About the property

House, 3 Bedrooms, 1 Baths, (Sleeps 5)

In a quiet rural setting in the heart of historic Glencoe, this cosy, single-storey, detached cottage has been tastefully restored. With views of the surrounding mountains, and a short walk to the shores of Loch Leven, this is an ideal location for exploring the west coast of Scotland. The area is renowned for its abundant wildlife and its breathtaking scenery, which has been used as the backdrop for many famous films including ’Harry Potter’, ’Rob Roy’ and ’William Wallace’. From Fort Willliam, known as the ’outdoor capital of the UK’, you can travel on the Jacobite Steam Train, or catch the Mountain Gondola to the top of Aonoch Mor. The small bustling town of Oban, the ’gateway to the Isles’, has regular ferries from the harbour to the inner Isles, including Mull and Iona. Glencoe and Fort William both have ski resorts and are also very popular areas for climbers and walkers. Crossing on the Ferry at Corran will allow you to explore the Ardnamurchan Peninsula, with its rocky coastline and white sandy beaches. Take the ’road to the Isles’ and visit the beautiful Isle of Skye. Cycling and mountain biking is one of the main outdoor activities and attractions in the Glencoe and Lochaber area. Both the Glencoe Mountain and Nevis Range ski centres have developed downhill mountain bike tracks which are used in amatuer and international, professional level competition. Croft cottage also sits on the Glencoe orbital and the Glencoe to Oban cycle paths, which are aimed at family level cycling. Bike hire is also available in Glencoe village a few hundred metres from the cottage. Other activities include kayaking, golf, horse riding, snowboarding, bird watching and fishing, or excellent indoor climbing at Kinlochleven. There are plenty of gentle forest walks, museums, distilleries, castles, gardens and monuments nearby, with Glencoe village also offering shops and a museum. Shop 200 yards, pub and restaurant 650 yards.
