Tucked away in the heart of the historic market town of Pickering, with a shared driveway, it&rsquo;s an ideal base from which to explore both the North York Moors National Park and the Heritage coast of Yorkshire. Pickering hosts many events throughout the year, including War Weekend in October when visitors flock from far and wide to celebrate the end of World War II. The North Yorkshire Moors steam train (Hogwarts Express) departs from Pickering at regular intervals and chugs its way across 18 miles of stunning countryside into Whitby, Grosmont and Heartbeat&rsquo;s village of Goathland. The town offers many inns, tea rooms and restaurants, serving delicious food ranging from Indian and Mexican to good old fashioned Yorkshire cuisine. Visit the 12th-century castle, play a round of golf or visit the fishing lakes where you are guaranteed a catch.
