Overview

About the property

House, 2 Bedrooms, 2 Baths, (Sleeps 4)

With far reaching views across to the Yorkshire Wolds, this detached former granary, close to the owner’s farmhouse and on a working farm, has been skilfully converted, retaining open oak beams and exposed brickwork. Wise Hare has old-world charm that retains a very traditional, cottage feel. The open plan living and kitchen area is flooded with natural light from the floor-to-ceiling windows and the cosy woodburner is perfect for curling up beside on cooler evenings. The owners have preserved the original stone staircase that leads to the first floor and where the master bedroom enjoys a Juliet balcony, en-suite, and quality beds and bed linen, ensuring guests a very comfortable stay. Guests are encoraged to explore the natural habitat of the farm and feed the animals, and there is also a 1 mile walk around the perimeter of the farm, where there is approximately 500 trees that have been planted to encourage more wildlife around the property. Walkers are spoilt for choice with the Wilberforce Way, Wolds Way and Minster Way being just a few of the walks that encompass some of the breathtaking scenery the Yorkshire Wolds have to offer. Cyclists too will find many enjoyable routes. A 10-minute drive leads to the quaint market town of Pocklington, with its charming independent shops, boutiques and restaurants and an arts centre which plays host to an array of talented artists, musicians and comedians. Close by are the peaceful gardens at Burnby Hall and the fascinating Yorkshire Air Museum. The vibrant city of York is 10 miles away and is easily accessible from the Park and Ride and appeals to all ages with its historic buildings, Jorvik Viking Centre, Railway Museum, theatres and art galleries along with river boat trips, street entertainers and an abundance of restaurants and real ale inns. The coastal resorts of Scarborough, Bridlington and Filey and the North Yorkshire Moors are within an hour’s drive. Shop, pub and restaurant 2 miles.
