Guests are free to roam the 13000-acre grounds which surround the holiday cottage, made up of woodland, moors and lochs.. This traditional stone cottage started life in the 1800s as three shepherds’ dwellings, and has been tastefully restored into one spacious cottage. It is situated by an old stone bridge over the Clachandubh Burn and has its own enclosed garden. This detached, single-storey cottage is located on Ederline Estate, a family-owned working hill farm, covering around 13000 acres of stunning, breathtaking scenery. The estate is made up of woodland, far reaching moors and 22 lochs, all with wild brown trout which guests are welcome to fish with a fly. On Loch Ederline, guests can fish for pike, perch and roach (all fishing is £10 per day). Wildlife in the area is legendary, with red and roe deer, pine martens, foxes and red squirrels often seen. There are also regular sightings of golden eagles and ospreys which nest on the estate. As a guest on the estate you are welcome to wander as far as you like and explore this Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The area is rich in history and archaeological sites with the main concentration in the Kilmartin Glen only a short distance away. On the estate itself are two ancient chapels and a castle to be explored. Activities include cycling, kayaking and rowing (bikes and boats for hire), and in season stalking can be arranged. The numerous forest trails and Crinan Canal tow paths are ideal for walking and cycling, and pony trekking is available locally.
