Overview

About the property

House, 2 Bedrooms, 1 Baths, (Sleeps 4)

Nestling in the peaceful village of Symondsbury, only 2 miles from the famous World Heritage Jurassic Coast, these two barn conversions, each for 4 people, are perfectly placed to explore this stunning coastline, from picturesque Lyme Regis to the bustling seaside resort of Weymouth. The Barn (ref 28923) is a 200-year-old, detached holiday property which boasts a cosy open fire, beams and comfortable accommodation for a family or 2 couples and has an enclosed garden, and The Loft (ref W43531), is a partial two storey barn conversion wtih a patio/seating area, making a comfortable loft apartment with sky lights, the east end of which sits above a studio annexe, forming part of an original farm courtyard. The entrance is on the ground floor on the west end of the barn, and has a large utility room on the ground floor in which the washing machine is located. Set 30 yards apart, just over a courtyard, both properties can be booked together to accommodate up to 8 guests.Within the village, guests can wander down to the nearby pub to wine and dine, or on your doorstep, there is the Symondsbury Estate Craft Centre with its restaurant. Open fields are just a minute’s walk away and the properties are situated at the foot of the Colmer. The scenic coastline has superb coastal walking, including at West Bay, setting of the TV series ’Broadchurch’, or maybe take an invigorating walk up Golden Cap, the highest point in the south of England. For families, enjoy crabbing, swimming, fossil hunting or boating from one of the seaside resorts. Lyme Regis, with its pretty and famous Cobb and harbour, is well worth a visit, or take time out to explore the whole of unspoilt west Dorset. There are a wealth of attractions and activities to be enjoyed, including Forde Abbey and Gardens, Broadwindsor Craft Centre and Abbotsbury Swannery and Tropical Gardens. There is a village shop just a short stroll away where you can purchase essential items and daily newspapers. Beach 2 miles. Shop 1/4 mile, pub and restaurant 250 yards.

Not inspiring from the external view but once inside the cottage was welcoming and cosy.

  • 3 of 5

The cottage was clean and comfortable .furnishing was eclectic cosychairs and sofas ,bedrooms well equipped with storage if needed .

The outside space would be limited if visiting during the summer as it was quite enclosed and small .however we did not need to use it so it was no problem .

The best thing was location ,right at the base of colmer hill ,with symondsbury manor ,with the fab cafe just around the corner .For me the ability to walk from the door on to a great network of footpaths was absolutely brilliant,I could walk in so many directions from the door ,just fab .

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in the barn and the dogs loved it too.

A return visit is definitely on the cards .

Thank you

Marilyn
