This is an ideal location for the amenities of this historic market town near the Lake District National Park. Tea rooms, museums, the Brewery Arts Centre, a climbing wall, specialist shops, a golf course and riverside walks are nearby. A leisure centre with swimming pool is a few minutes’ walk away. The town hosts beer, mountain and music festivals and other cultural events during the year. Many historic houses are a short drive. There are lots of attractions right on your doorstep including Wordsworth’s former home at Grasmere, Ambleside, the World of Beatrix Potter exhibition in Bowness, Lake Windermere and Sedbergh (in the Yorkshire Dales National Park). Other great days out in the local area include the Lakes Aquarium at Ulverston and the South Lakes Wild Animal Park at Dalton-in-Furness. The historic Levens Hall and Gardens with its beautiful walks and amazing topiary is also close by.
