Overview

About the property

House, 4 Bedrooms, 3 Baths, (Sleeps 8)

Over 200 years old, this stone-built detached holiday home oozes charm and character. A large farmhouse kitchen, beamed ceilings and many original features all add to its appeal. This is an ideal location for that family get-together or to celebrate a special occasion. A large terraced patio overlooks the pretty cottage gardens (22 steps down) which is completely enclosed, where children can play to their hearts’ content. The house is well situated for exploring both the North York Moors National Park and the Heritage Coast of Yorkshire. Bridle paths and cycle tracks pass close by the property, with the tumbling waters of the River Esk running through the village. Glaisdale boasts a village shop with small post office, a butcher’s shop and a friendly local pub with adjoining cafe. Explore the many pretty villages tucked away deep in the valleys. The ancient seaport of Whitby, just 8 miles away, has a bustling harbour, the abbey ruins and a pretty marina. Whitby is known for its connections with Captain James Cook and boasts a 3-mile stretch of sandy beach, perfect for a relaxing day at the seaside. Visit smugglers’ coves at Robin Hoods Bay and Runswick Bay, both within a short drive, or take a ride on the North Yorkshire Moors steam train based at Grosmont. There is so much to do and see, visitors to this region often return again and again. Shop 200 yards, pub and restaurant 500 yards.
