Virginia Cottage is a pretty, listed, thatched cottage set in the heart of the village of Lapford. With its origins dating from the 16th-century, the cottage boasts many of the features you would expect from a cottage of this age including beams and an inglenook fireplace. The well-appointed and presented accommodation makes the cottage an ideal holiday base from which to explore all the delights Devon has to offer. The cathedral city of Exeter on the River Exe is 15 miles. Head towards Barnstaple and you have access to some of the best beaches in the country including Woolacombe and Saunton. The nearest beach at Instow is ideal for children or just a great place to walk off life’s stresses and then enjoy a meal or drink at one of the pubs and restaurants along the front. The town of Barnstaple has most amenities you may require as well as a busy high street, and the market and Butchers Row are well worth a visit. There are numerous places of interest close by. At Great Torrington you will find the RHS gardens at Rosemoor and Dartington Crystal. Further afield discover the historic fishing village of Clovelly and the Victorian towns of Lynton and Lynmouth. NT properties can be found at Arlington, Castle Drogo and Knightshayes Court. For younger ones, visits to the Big Sheep or Milky Way theme parks are recommended. There is walking on Dartmoor, Exmoor and the South West Coast Path or hire a bike and cycle the Tarka Trail. Garage ½ mile. Shop ½ mile, pub 200 yards.
