Jerome - From Mining Boom Town to Art Destination: Once a roaring copper town, Jerome became a ghost town in the 1950's when the mines closed. There is much interesting history in this charming mile high gem. The entire town is on the National Historic Registry and The Kelly House is individually listed, as well. Because of this, the character of the town is unique and well protected. Today, the 400 residents welcome not only history buffs but art lovers to over 30 galleries and studios.

Galleries Galore: First Saturday Art Walk in Jerome was selected by The Arizona Republic as #1 weekend getaway. Stroll the streets and stop in galleries for live music, refreshments and fabulous art. The restaurants in Jerome are superb and The Twin Star is a general store with everything you will need...In September, The Jerome Historical Society may host its second CopperTown Ball, a formal Roaring 20's themed dance with casino and big band in Spook Hall. Details to come on this event. October is packed with events. The Sedona Plein Air Festival comes to Jerome for a paint out on the last Wednesday of October. GREAT ART DAY IN JEROME. The Ghost Walk and the Halloween Ball are yearly happenings that are well-known favorites. Sedona Film Festival is every February. Home Tour on the third weekend in May. Call for description of events. Summer 2014 - this is a great time to be in Jerome. Central air - just in case you need it! July and August are open! Absolutely Non-smoking.

Surrounding Area - what to do: Hiking is probably the most spectacular activity with hundreds of trails from easy to difficult. Sedona is a beautiful 25 minute drive from Jerome. The Verde Canyon Railroad and Tuzigoot - incredible Indian ruins are just down the hill in Clarkdale. There are 8 local wineries, all an easy drive from Jerome. Cliff Castle Casino is close-by, if gambling is your thing. If you love photography or painting, Jerome offers limitless opportunities for your artistic pursuits.

Cozy town apartment

  • 5 of 5

Jerome presents a cute little mountain town the Verde Valley. This apartment over the art gallery lived large with all the required amenities. Sunrises were perfect through the picture window. Street noise was minimal. This is a town that rolls up its pavement by 6pm. (At least when we were there-March) Our hosts were welcoming and discreet but also helpful with possible things to see and do. Close enough to touristy Sedona (40 mns by car) but it doesn’t disappoint because of the range of walks, hikes and places to drive to.

We had a fantastic stay! The Kelly House was cozy and clean, with an unbeatable view!

  • 5 of 5

We only stayed one night, but would definitely book this house again in the future. The home was so comfortable with attention to extra details (bottled water, soaps, etc.) We were in the heart of Jerome, within walking distance of galleries, shops and restaurants. The view is breathtaking, such a great space and value!

Very comfortable apartment in an outstanding location!

  • 5 of 5

Our family of four spent 16 nights at Christmastime. We cooked all but one of our meals at the Kelly House. The kitchen had everything we needed to prepare our meals. Grocery shopping was easy - right down the mountain in Cottonwood. We truly enjoyed mornings out on on the porch with our coffee, as the sun rose in the sky, planning our hikes and adventures! We could see hot air balloons in the Red Rock area in the distance, and a group of birds that gathered at a tree out front every morning.

The beds were very comfortable and the neighborhood was quiet, no disturbances or excess noise when we needed a good nights sleep. The downtown, daytime traffic diminished by nighttime.

The apartment is well appointed with comfortable furniture and walls full of beautiful artwork to enjoy. The yard has fun sculptures, too!

Jerome had a wonderful small town feel, the locals were always friendly to us and we felt safe staying there. The galleries and shops in town are outstanding... you won't find them full of just a bunch of touristy stuff, plan on finding some excellent art.

It was important to me to spend our time in a town that had no stoplights or box stores -Jerome was perfect! We especially enjoyed being able to go for walks around town, day or night. The Christmas lights in Jerome were beautiful - especially at the Children's Park!

We hiked over 150 miles during our trip, with day trips to places like the Red Rock hiking trails in Sedona, Fossil Creek trail - to the "Toilet Bowl", The Grand Canyon and right the door of the Kelly House - around the hills of Jerome!

Donna was an excellent host, checking in with us on occasion, ready to answer any questions we may have had.

We'd never been to Arizona, or hiked in the mountains before. We loved it! We would definitely return and highly recommend the Kelly House and Jerome Arizona!

What a great place to stay and explore the fun little town of Jerome. Very comfortable, perfectly situated on the edge of downtown, so it felt quiet and private, and yet it was close to everything. And oh my gosh the view! Thank you so much, Donna
