When we first encountered this wonderfully chic and carefully styled mews house we were already in raptures of delight regarding its highly sought-after location - just off the world famous Portobello Road in Notting Hill. However, as one enters this truly divine mews abode, it is all too easy to forget that you are in the heart of West London; here hidden away from the hustle and bustle, is a bespoke designer cottage that is as calm as it is excruciatingly cool.
Much of this home's tantalising glitz and glamour is down to the careful tastes of Tara, the owner. Tara is a highly successful vintage fashion dealer, and her local boutique 'Chic and Seek' has become somewhat of a household name amongst the fashionista cognoscenti of the Portobello area. The uplifting colour combinations adorned on the walls perfectly complement her fascinating collection of antiques, modernist paintings and tonally upholstered furniture resulting in a elegant but subtly decadent aesthetic, it couldn't be anywhere else but Notting Hill.
Entering the house, your eyes are first met with the huge open-plan ground floor with the first guest bedroom to your left (boasting a grand old vanity mirror and dressing table for pre-Portobello pampering!) through to the palatial first living room and magnificently mirrored study area. You may however be distracted by the afternoon sun spilling down over modernist-inspired terrace which lies at the rear!
Here, magnificent white walls provide a tasteful backdrop for crawling ivy and a lazy cushioned sitting area, all encircled around the dining table, an absolute must for apres-manger basking as the sun slowly sets over Notting Hill.
Wandering up the staircase to the first floor, one is met once again with another seemingly endless open-plan area, encompassing a second living room, dining area and kitchen. First up take a lounge on one of the funky pastel sofas and admire Tara's sumptuous decor and original paintings whilst indulging in a glass of prosecco. Don't forget the bespoke Sonos sound system and full home cinema facilities which accompany the 42-inch LCD television though - nor the dreamy balcony out front - perfect for a leisurely breakfast overlooking the quintessentially English cobbled street.
If you can bear to distract yourself from the sheer glamour and aesthetic intrigue of the lounge area, then skip your gaze past the grandiose dining table and straight into the kitchen.
Literally oozing style, this ultra-sleek number is no vanity project - it is equipped with a truly endless and comprehensive list of gastronomic gadgets, most of which are very high-end/restaurant grade; a Vitamix blender, Miele fridge/freezer and dishwasher, Krups coffee machine and a Dualit toaster and juicer just to mention a few. Who's to say you shouldn't eat in?!Moving on, finish your espresso, and prepare yourself for the real piece-de-resistance of this home - the master bedroom. Hidden away up on the second floor, boasting a wonderful sense of privacy, it features not only a large walk-in wardrobe, luxuriant en-suite with shower, but a free-standing hot tub at the end of the bed. It has to be seen to be believed, and the only problem will be making your way downstairs, never mind out onto Portobello for that long-awaited shopping trip!
