Born in Germany, raised in Canary Islands, went to college in Barcelona, Cologne and Bonn, lived the last 10 years in Chicago. Now, I'm back to Canary Islands, to the breeze at the beach, hiking the mountains, boating to hidden beaches.

I enjoy meeting new people, showing my friends and guests the island, taking them to places they would never find by themselves. My goal is to have the most beautiful apartments on the island; my philosophy is that our guests are travelers, not tourists; my motto is *authentic, individual, exclusive*

Our goal at Alberto Dorner properties is to help our guests experience the local cultures, lifestyles and environments: climb the volcano, hike the hidden path, taste the secret wines in small wineries, have authentic island meals in that back patio in the mountains that only locals know about, chat with islanders and find out about their lives. We want our guests to discover Tenerife in a relaxed, safe, adventurous atmosphere.

community: We are part of the local community and want to give back. We hire local staff, work with local contractors and businesses and shop locally. We want to preserve the community and help improve people’s lives. We promote sustainable tourism, with fewer guests but more involved, interested in land and people, respectful with local traditions and culture.

environment: Our properties are located on the north side of the island, an area with amazing nature, ranging from rainforests in the Anaga mountains to the desert in the Teno nature preserve, from the lava fields on the Teide crater to the volcanic beaches and basalt cliffs on the ocean. We are committed to preserve our environment for future generations, using environment friendly cleaning products and amenities and trying to have a low impact.

An absolute gem in beautiful north

My friend and I stayed in the Junior apartment 3-13 march 2017 and it was perfect. The location is breathtaking with Teide on one side and the ocean on the other. In between are banana plantations, flowers and cactuses which all make up quite a scenery. The place was clean, bright and spacious and have everything you need and the some. The host could'nt have been nicer and more helpful.

Renting a car is a good idea, however it is quite possible to get along without one - bus lines are good, taxis cheap and walking is beatiful and good exercise.

I highly recommend it to families, couples and everyone in between :-)

Clean, modern, everything works and nice views

Situation - about 20 mins walk down the road to San Marcos beach which has a couple of nice restaurants, a couple of bars, a pharmacy and a supermarket. Alternatively it is a 3 minute zip down the road in the car. San Marcos is small with black sand beach but is very pleasant and chilled when we were there although it probably gets busier in season and at the weekends when locals will go. The flat is awkward to find first time and the details need improving from the management. I would suggest coming off the T5 for the Playa San Marcos and the the turning is the second right.

Another area of improvement is information available in the flat, there wasn't much. Icod probably has more to offer than we found ( all we did was the area around the Drago Tree) . Garachio is a real gem and well worth a visit or two to stroll around and try out some of the good looking restaurants. Also worth a drive along to Ponto Teno as long as you don't mind the sheer drops. The weather on the Icod side of the island (in March) is cloudier than elsewhere so a trip to Los Gigantes is worth it chase down the sun (1 hour 10 mins with hair pins non-stop). One amazing outing is the Cueva del Viento, the lava tube which needs booking online first to assure a place.

Lovely views from the apartment of both Mount Teide and the sea.

Elena and Carlos do a great job in organising and welcoming. I would definitely go back if the weather can be improved!

Owner's Response: Thank you very much for your comment. We are sorry you couldn't enjoy your stay on the island to the fullest extent. We have had a wonderful winter, with sun and blue skies, but in February and part of March the weather turned on the whole island, including our area. There are few weeks of cloudy weather and it is extremely seldom that we have more than two consecutive days of rain. It is unfortunate that we had a streak of poor weather during your stay (poor for Canary Island standards that is). Our property is located in a residential area but still close to both the beach and the historic center of Icod, as you pointed out. We include detailed directions and a google map in our confirmation email, but we will certainly try to improve the description of how to find us. Thank you for your suggestion. I am sad to read that you didn't find enough suggestions of what to do, because this is precisely something we are normally praised for. We offer a complimentary concierge service to our guests that offers suggestions and assists our guests in making reservations for excursions or restaurants. Your comment tells us that we have to improve our communication to make it clearer that we strive to serve our guests in all possible ways, being available 24/7, helping with suggestions and reservations, assisting in case our guests need anything on or off our property. Sehr schöne, ruhige Ferienanlage

Unsere Wohnung (Junior Suite) war sehr gut ausgestattet, sauber, hell und modern gestaltet.

Wir können diesen Vermieter bzw. diese Anlage gerne weiterempfehlen.

Zu, Empfang gab es frisches Obst und sogar eine Flasche Wein.

Im Ort oder auch unten am Strand gibt es sehr gute und günstige Restaurants.

Kleine Wermutstopfen: Enge Garageneinfahrt und Restaurants sind zu Fuß nur auf teilweise unbeleuchteter Strasse zu erreichen.

einfach nur super

Die Bilder entsprechen der Realität. Wir fühlten uns sehr wohl. Es fehlte an nichts. Durch die regelmäßige Anwesenheit der Eigentümer oder des "Hausmeisters" bekam der Aufenthalt auch eine persönliche Note. Rundum zufrieden.

Super Haus, top Service, gerne wieder. Auf jeden Fall zu empfehlen!

Super Lage, sehr saubere Zimmer, schöne Einrichtung. Morgens auf dem Balkon im Sonnenaufgang gefrühstückt und abends die letzten Sonnenstrahlen bei einem Glas Wein und Meerblick ausklingen lassen.

Uns hat es sehr gefallen, sollten wir Teneriffa nochmals besuchen, werden wir mit Sicherheit wieder kommen.

Supertolles, sauberes und gemütliches Apartment! Die Aussicht ist traumhaft schön und die Gegend bzw. Ortschaft ist ruhig und wundervoll. Die Vermieter sind supernett und helfen bei jeder Angelegenheit. Das Apartment ist sehr empfehlenswert!

Villa on a hillside at Playa San Marcos in Icod de los vinos (Tenerife). Spacious terrace with breathtaking views overlooking the whole lush north coast of the island. Villa located in a quiet residential area with only 6 villas. The beach is just 5 minutes down the road, where you find Tapas, local food and drinks at beach restaurants.

Icod de los vinos is well known for its vines, its historical, colonial town center and for its amazing surroundings.

The Teide national park is just 20 min away from Villa Costa Azul and is perfect for all levels of hiking with its unique flora and topography. Other day-excursions for hiking are the humid and lush laurisilva forest in Anaga or the dry, coastal Teno park. Further excursions on the island include the capital Santa Cruz (shopping), La Laguna (Unesco world heritage center) or the nearby historic town of La Orotava.
