Apartment in Sao Martinho do Porto, 2 bedrooms, 6 people

Ideally situated 2 bedroom modern ground floor apartment which sleeps up to 6 people. Escellent location, just a 3-minute walk to the beach for shops, bars and restaurants and a great central location to many nearby attractions.

Front and back spacious terrace / balcony - East and West facing for all day sunshine. Modern kitchen with washing machine, dishwasher and all mod-cons. Air-conditioning and heating within the apartment. Private underground parking. Shared pool and children's play area. Families catered for with a travel cot, highchair, dvd's and toys provided.

- Fully equipped modern kitchen with granite tops, cooker and hob, dishwasher, washing machine, large fridge/freezer, microwave, kettle, coffee machine, toaster, large kitchen table and chairs.

- Large lounge/dining room. The sofa converts to a double bed. TV and DVD player provided along with a number of English DVD's. TV cabinet and large sideboard provides ample room for storage.

- Dining Room with table and chairs which can seat up to 8.

- Bedroom 1 with a double bed and fitted wardrobes, TV and DVD

- Bedroom 2 with twin beds and fitted wardrobe (plus travel cot).

- Bathroom with shower and bath, wc, bidet.

- 2 terraces, BBQ, outside furniture.

- Large shared pool with seperate children's pool.

- Large garden area with outside toilets. Childrens playground.

- Private underground parking and additional roadside parking.

- Security intercom entry system.

Bedlinen and towels are included. The property is cleaned before and after your use. There isn't a standard cleaning service during your stay, but this can be arranged at an extra charge. Please advise when booking.

About Richard Myles

My name is Richard and my wife is Nicky. We bought this apartment seven years ago after falling in love with Sao Martinho do Porto. We have two children, Georgie (9) and Jake (7). As we have been going to the apartment since Georgie was a toddler and Jake a baby, we have collected all the necessary equipment and toys along the way to cater really well for children. It is a great place for adults and children of all ages, with plenty to keep everyone occupied.

Why Richard Myles chose Alcobaca

The beach and the location means you don't have to get in the car if you don't want to and can do as little or as much as you like. Even though you can get away with speaking English (or German/French etc) throughout your holiday, this is still very much a Portuguese town. Everyone is extremely friendly and helpful and we love coming out here.

What makes this apartment unique

The apartment is so close to the beach (3 minutes walk) with a great selection of shops, bars, restaurants and parks all in walking distance. The pool is a really big bonus as it is one of the largest we know of in Sao Martinho Do Porto.

The apartment had a lot of children stuff which was appreciated by our kids. Pool was huge and not too crowded. Very helpful and friendly owners. All in all great place and we had a lovely time!"

Lovely Apartment

The apartment met all our needs, the rooms were all a good size and two big balconies. The position of the apartment was also great only a few minutes stroll to the seafront. The resort was marvellous, plenty of restaurants and bars overlooking the sea. In fact we liked it so much that we are considering retiring there in a couple of years. Would definitely use the apartment again in the meantime if we come back to that part of Portugal. Would definitely recommend a stay here.

Lovely Apartment, Great Location

This was our third stay in this apartment and we have really enjoyed our family holidays there. The apartment is clean and modern with 2 spacious bedrooms and it is fully equipped with everything you could need for your stay. It is located only a few minutes walk from a great beach. There is a large pool and there are balconies at the front & back of the apartment which is great for catching the sun all day.

Sao Marthino has lots of good restaurants and beach bars to choose from and prices very reasonable. There is an Intermarche 5 mins drive away and a larger supermarket in Caldas Da Rainha which is about 15 mins drive. There is also a great market up in the old town which has wonderful fruit, veg and some amazing fish.

The location is a great base for visiting nearby towns and beaches and it is also just over an hour from Lisbon.

The owner Richard has always been great to deal with and I would have no hesitation in recommending this apartment to others.

Fantastic apartment and location

We had a fantastic week at this lovely modern, spacious, clean apartment. Everything was exactly as pictured and described - it is well laid-out and comfortable, with everything you need for a family holiday.

The pool at the apartment complex is large and completely enclosed, making it very safe for children. Our two boys (9 & 6) quickly made friends with other children and we spent hours (literally!) relaxing while they had the time of their lives.

The wide sandy beach is a short stroll away, as are local shops and restaurants. Sao Martinho do Porto is a great little town: it has all that you need without being overwhelmingly large or too touristy.

Richard, the owner, made sure we had all the information we needed and was friendly and efficient. We couldn't have asked for a better experience: we recommend the apartment wholeheartedly and would love to go back.

Just a note on car hire: if you rent a car at Lisbon airport, you might end up being taken by minibus to a backstreet office a few minutes drive away. This can be a little disconcerting, especially if you arrive in the dark! It's worth having sat nav/GPS so you can find your way out of town and back again at the end of your holiday.

Owner's Response: Many thanks for your kind comments. It's a good point regarding car hire. I have heard some of the car hire companies are off-site, but there are a number who are set up in Lisbon Airport including Budget, Hertz, Europcar and Avis. It's certainly worth checking in advance and please let me know if I can help anyone with more information about this.

Shhhh Let's keep this a secret!

This was a fab holiday with everything above and beyond expectation from the apartment, the resort, the wine, the people, the beach, the sea, the food it was all wonderful. We will be back and probably dragging some friends and their kids too. The pool is great fun and the beach safe, sandy and literally a 3 minute walk away.

A great stay

The apartment wasa perfect in every way, very short stroll to the main promenade. The apartment itself is very spacious with two bedrooms and two great balconys one on either side of the building, ensuring all day sunshine. Lots of games and pool toys for kids. A real home form home including proper sized red wine

glasses.. Highly recommend.

Great holiday

We enjoyed our holiday. The apartment was as advertised. It was the best apartment we have stayed in - well equipped, good location, lots of storage, two good size balconies and a lovely pool. The barbecue was great. The apartment is in very easy walking distance of the beach and restaurants. The beach is sandy and the sea is gentle. There is a good choice of restaurants within walking distance. We could have gone to a different one each night of our 15 night stay. Sao Martinho de Porto is a beautiful resort, picturesque, with interesting geography and geology. We would recommend this resort and apartment to anyone. The owners and managers were very helpful. Nearby places to visit are Obidos, Nazare, Lisbon and Peniche. The ice cream and red wine are excellent!

Car: recommended

Coast/Beach:

- 3 minute walk to beach.

Travel:

- Nearest airport is Lisbon (1 hour drive).

- Porto airport is 2.5 hours.

- Car hire is recommended but not essential.

- Although Sao Martinho do Porto has a train station it is a local line so a car would give more flexibility.

Distances:

- 10 minute walk to the Old Town Market, open every morning with fantastic fresh produce (great bread, fish and fruit)

- 15 minute walk (3 min drive) to the supermarket (Intermarche)

- 2 minute walk to local Portuguese general store

- 3 minute walk to beach and promenade for bars and restaurants

- 20 min drive to Nazare

- 20 min to Obidos the famous medieval walled town.

- 15 mins toCaldas da Raina

- 1 hour Lisbon and Sintra

A 'what to do' information pack will be in the apartment for when you arrive and this will provide you additional information on local activities, places to visit, things to do etc.

We have a management company based in Martinho and can be contacted at any time for any questions. They speak a number of languages inlcuding English, Portuguese, German, Italian, French.
