About the property

Newly renovated property, 5 bed, 3 bathroom spacious house

Marine House is the perfect place for a gathering of family or friends. Nestled in the the village of Northam within walking distance of Westward Ho! and Appledore, this period property enjoys panoramic sea views and was extensively refurbished in 2015.

The property is well equipped with smart TVs, Fibre Optic Broadband, DVD player, playstation, music station, induction range cooker, dishwasher, washing machine and tumble drier. Bedrooms have 100% cotton sheets and soft Christy towels for all guests.

We have now set up a second sitting room with a DVD and PlayStation 3.

The accommodation comprises of 5 good sized bedrooms, (4 kings/doubles rooms plus a twin room) The master bedroom has an en suite bathroom & large balcony to enjoy the evening sun with fantastic views of the sea and estuary. The living space includes a large living room with large bay window, wood burning stove plus a separate reading room/study also a with bay window, both have sea views. The recently refurbished kitchen & dining area has an open fire, breakfast bar, dining table seating 10. The dining room opens onto a south facing terrace perfect for barbecues and catching some sun. At the rear of the property is a private enclosed garden with planted borders.

There is off road parking for one car & unlimited free car parking just 3 minutes walk behind Fore Street.

As the name suggests Marine house has a long seafaring history, from humble beginnings as a ship builder’s cottage with links to smuggling in the 1700s the house was extended several times by subsequent owners, the current Georgian facade being added by the captain of a merchant ship.

One well behaved dog is welcome but we do request they downstairs, all paws remain on the floor and are not left alone in the house so they do not get scared being in a strange place.

We are strict with maximum occupancy of 10 people.

Superb Holiday

This was a lovely spacious house very well maintained and decorated. Well equipped and comfortable. Very pretty garden and a lovely sheltered terrace and good BBQ area at the back of the house. Excellent having shower facilities downstairs as well for when we came back from the beach. A supermarket just around the corner where we bought fresh bread each morning and down the hill a very good butcher in Westward Ho! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and the owners were so helpful from the beginning and during our stay. We would definitely go back again and thoroughly recommend to anyone els.

Lovely family house

We were a party of 9, 5 adults & 4 children & we all really enjoyed our Christmas break in Marine House. Great location within 2/3 minutes of village of Northam & about a 10 minute drive to lovely sandy beach at Instow. The house itself is really nice with plenty of space, all 5 bedrooms are a really good size with nice comfy beds. The kitchen/diner is also a lovely room, the kitchen was 1 of the best equipped of any house I have stayed in plenty of everything. The property is very well maintained & has a really nice feel to it. The only down side is that we didn't stay for longer. Would definitely recommend.

Lovely, spacious property

There were 2 families staying in this impressive property for part of the week, but it was so spacious it didn't feel like there were 9 people in it! The property was well equipped with everything you could need, with lovely views to the sea. The children appreciated the PS3 and the good wifi connection! Luckily we had a week of good weather. We went to the Northam Country Park end of the beach, which was quiet even on Bank Holiday, where the children spent hours body boarding. They also enjoyed the inflatable 'total wipeout' type course at the wake park in Bideford, had a surfing lesson, and enjoyed crabbing in Appledore which was our favourite nearby village. A very enjoyable stay in a beautiful house. I'd definitely recommend it.

A lovely break at an excellent property.

We had a delightful stay at Marine House. There were 6 adults and 4 grandchildren in our party and the accommodation was excellent. The back garden was lovely and we were able to relax there of an evening as the sun went down. Very convenient Costcutter around the corner and a 5 minute drive to the nearest large supermarket. The property contained everything we needed and was clean and well presented throughout. Would certainly recommend.... we had a wonderful holiday here.

First impressions were wow! Big balcony with fab views, spacious inside and a lovely garden.

We had a fantastic week in Devon and Marine House made the week more special. The house is spacious, and homely and has everything you need. The kitchen is fully equipped, the sofas comfortable, big dining table, garden and BBQ. The balcony offers a wonderful view. Fantastic also to have a safety box to put the key in when you go out.

The welcome pack was useful and we booked restaurants weeks before we went to ensure we got in from the recommendations in the pack.

Would definitely return.
