About the property

Newly renovated property, 5 bed, 3 bathroom spacious house

Marine House is the perfect place for a gathering of family or friends. Nestled in the the village of Northam, within walking distance of Westward Ho! and Appledore, this period property enjoys panoramic sea views and was extensively refurbished in 2017.

The property is well equipped with smart TVs, Fibre Optic Broadband, DVD player, playstation, music station, induction range cooker, dishwasher, washing machine and tumble drier. Bedrooms have 100% cotton sheets and soft Christy towels for all guests.

We have now set up a second sitting room with a DVD and PlayStation 3.

The accommodation comprises of 5 good sized bedrooms, (4 kings/doubles rooms plus a twin room) The master bedroom has an en suite bathroom & large balcony to enjoy the evening sun with fantastic views of the sea and estuary. The living space includes a large living room with large bay window, wood burning stove plus a separate reading room/study also a with bay window, both have sea views. The recently refurbished kitchen & dining area has an open fire, breakfast bar and dining table with seating for10. The dining room opens onto a south facing terrace perfect for barbecues and catching some sun. At the rear of the property is a private enclosed garden with planted borders.

There is off road parking for one car & unlimited free car parking just 3 minutes walk behind Fore Street.

As the name suggests Marine house has a long seafaring history, from humble beginnings as a ship builder’s cottage with links to smuggling in the 1700s the house was extended several times by subsequent owners, the current Georgian facade being added by the captain of a merchant ship.

One well behaved dog is welcome but we do request they downstairs, all paws remain on the floor and they are not left alone in the house to get scared staying in a strange place.

We are strict with maximum occupancy of 10 people.

We were a group of adults and dog walking the coastal path and the house was an excellent base . We enjoyed meals out locally in Appledore and Westward Ho! We made use of the reliable bus service one day which was very convenient. We found the accommodation very clean and comfortable and it was great to have the open plan kitchen diner to sit and relax at the end of a day's walking and plan for the next day. The garden was very pretty and perfect for the dog and the rest of the group to enjoy. Nikkie responded quickly if we had any queries during our stay.

A lovely place to spend the week!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Marine House last week. It is beautifully kept, clean and very comfortable. From the very comfortable beds and good quality bedding down to the lovely crockery and excellent appliances we would highly recommend it. It is spacious and very tastefully decorated.

Lovely house with plenty of space and good facilities. Recommended. Good nearby access to Westward Ho! and other attractions.

Parking a little awkward for loading/unloading when lots of parties involved, but additional overnight parking up the road is good.

Superb Holiday

This was a lovely spacious house very well maintained and decorated. Well equipped and comfortable. Very pretty garden and a lovely sheltered terrace and good BBQ area at the back of the house. Excellent having shower facilities downstairs as well for when we came back from the beach. A supermarket just around the corner where we bought fresh bread each morning and down the hill a very good butcher in Westward Ho! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and the owners were so helpful from the beginning and during our stay. We would definitely go back again and thoroughly recommend to anyone els.
