If you are looking for the paradise vacation, here it is.
Our visit was for a wedding. Rental went smoothly, and then the problems started. The unit had wood rot caused by water leaks and wallpaper was falling from the walls. The musty smell was enough to keep us from sleeping more than two hours the first night because of coughing. The next day we opened all the windows and after hunting down a drug store, sprayed two complete cans of Lysol Disinfectant on everything possible. After twelve hours of ventilation we closed the windows and the smell didn't return until four days later. While we were opening windows we found a spot in the loft without any flooring under the carpet and almost stepped through the hole in between the twin beds. There was minor pest control issues in the kitchen and bathrooms. The tile floors were sticky and we noticed that walking around barefoot on the carpeting turn our feet black as if we had been walking across asphalt. Very little hot water even for the two of us. We had to call and remind about our deposit return. Their copy of the contract with our address on it had been lost. It took us three days to figure out how the cable tv worked with the combination of the three remotes, but perhaps we should have spent more time outside anyway. It was our first trip to the Keys, and thankfully the Bride and Groom had a number of fun activities that made up for the shortcomings of the Townhouse. We suspect that the unit is seldom occupied. Day three of our rental caused a bit of a scare, when we woke up to voices downstairs in the morning. We had been given notice of workers being there on the first day of our visit but was not prepared for it three days later. The workers were nice, apologized and left, but it did take a bit of time for the freaking out to subside. The rest of the amenities were acceptable.
