About The Owner

Hello, we are Rob and Denny, the owners of Bend in the River Lodge, Stratford-upon-Avon. We bought the Lodge a few years back as a holiday home and do spend some time there ourselves. Denny is a painter and knitwear designer. She finds lots of inspiration for her paintings and designs from the surrounding countryside and the architecture and activities in Stratford-upon-Avon and the Cotswolds. We love to go to the theatres in Stratford and a full programme of plays can be found on the Royal Shakespeare Company website. We personally deal with enquiries and bookings for the Lodge and answer questions as quickly as possible. We are sure that you will love the Lodge and the surrounding area should you wish to book.

The Owner purchased this bungalow in 2006

Why The Owner chose Stratford-upon-Avon

We purchased the Lodge because of its location - on the banks of the River Avon and within 1 mile of the town of Stratford-upon-Avon. We can walk into Stratford along a riverside path or catch the river taxi which runs from Easter to end of October.

Our position is unique in that it has a meadow on one side and the river in front. We have views of the river from every window and can watch the very varied wildlife and the boats going by.

What makes this bungalow unique

Perfect for relaxing by the river but within a few minutes of the attractive, historic town of Stratford-upon-Avon. The lodge has home-from-home comforts, is cosy and warm in the Winter and has a large decking for relaxing outside in the Summer.

Visit The Royal Shakespeare Theatre and Swan Theatre to see World Class plays. Both theatres are in the round and provide a stunning setting and electric atmosphere.

Shakespeare's Birthplace and Anne Hathaway's Cottage are a must to visit. Both buildings have been preserved to show you the lifestyle of the Shakespeare family in the 16th century.

Warwick Castle is a medieval castle developed from an original built by William the Conqueror in 1068. A visit to the castle will almost certainly include living history displays such as jousting tournaments. There are also the beautiful state rooms to explore and a waxwork exhibit "The Royal Weekend Party," depicting a typical event once held at the castle in days gone by.There's also lots to see in the grounds, including the Victorian Rose Garden and the Mill and Engine House, where a giant waterwheel was used to generate power before mains electricity was introduced in 1940.

A Victorian home set in landscaped deer park, overlooking the River Avon on the edge of Shakespeare’s Stratford, Charlecote Park has been part of this corner of rural Warwickshire for centuries. Still the Lucy family home after 900 years, you can explore the vision of the Victorian owners George Hammond Lucy and his wife, the formidable Mary Elizabeth, who extended their home and filled it with treasures from their European travels.

The Cotswolds is one of the UK’s most treasured areas of natural outstanding beauty. From the iconic Cotswolds stone cottages to medieval castles, quaint picture-postcard villages and breathtaking, natural scenery– the Cotswolds offers a taste of the real England. The major attractions in the Cotswolds: Bibury, Castle Combe, Lacock, Chipping Campden, Sudeley Castle, Winchcombe, Stow-on-the-Wold, Broadway Tower, Bourton-on-the-Water, Burford are all within travelling distance of the Lodge.
