Tucked away in the centre of Mallorca in the Es Raiguer is Campanet, a traditionally quaint Mallorcan village. Like many towns, the market square is the heart of the village and really comes alive with locals drinking coffee and reading the paper and you will notice the odd cyclists passing through too. We encourage you to explore the town and enjoy life like the locals do.
One of Campanet’s biggest claims to fame and what it is known throughout Mallorca for is the ‘coves’, caves. A visit here is a great way to see what’s lurking under the ground in Mallorca. Found in 1945 by local workers the caves cover 3,200 m2 and some of the chambers go down nearly a 300m. Dripping water combined with the local rocks form magnificent stalactites and stalacmites creating rooms such as the palm Tree Chamber and the Lake Chamber.
If you are (un)fortunate enough to visit Mallorca during a particularly rainy week then the natural phenomenon of Ses Fonts Ufanes river is a not-to-miss attraction. When the aquifer from Sa Pobla overflows with rain, water enters up through the grounds of the Fonts Ufanes, a phenomenon that happens only a few times a year, of course depending on the rainfall. The walk to the Fonts is lovely and even without the river flowing we recommend you take a walk over.
Local fruit and vegetable market: Tuesday in the main square 8am - 1pm
Fiestas: The main festival is the last weekend in September and Friday sees a lantern procession begin at 8.30pm.
