Totally amazing house and garden with fantastic views.

  • 5 of 5

We arrived late so it was a nice touch that the owners had left us a couple of bottles of wine with the welcome letter.

The house was immaculate and well appointed. Every bedroom has an en-suite bathroom and there were plenty of clean towels and linen provided. The kitchen has every appliance including a large American style fridge and an espresso machine which made great coffee.

The pool was perfectly clean and big enough to dive in and have a 'proper' swim.

The terrace overlooking the pool and garden is lovely to sit out on an evening, sipping wine and watching the swifts swooping and dipping. One time we even had an eagle glide over! Down the garden there is a peaceful pergola with armchairs and wisteria growing over - perfect for a quiet read. Beyond the garden are wild hills and vineyards where we walked to find beautiful views of the Pyrenees mountains in the distance.

We dined out at local restaurants a few times - excellent food on every occasion, and we had a great night out at the local campsite bar with a live band on till late! We wanted to go to Perpignan but couldn't fit it in. Next time!

A truly magical place and a wonderful week in the sun. Highly recommended.

Could not ask for more

Firstly we would like to thank Richard and Sue for renting their beautiful home in Paziols. My family and I had an amazing holiday their in the summer, our ages ranged from 6 yrs to 60 yrs but we all had a lovely time with plenty to do for everyone. The village is beautiful and if you visit at end of July you will have the pleasure of taking part in the festival which involves the whole village with loud music (live bands) food, fun fair and of course plenty of wine, which continue well into the early hours for 3 days ( we loved it, it made our holiday so memorable, buts its not for everyone, so check out the dates). You do need a car to explore the area but what a beautiful area, we were lucky enough to be their in the middle of a heat wave (so the pool was a god send and well used) the countryside, flowers and vines were out in bloom and so pretty.

The house is everything you need and more, when we arrived, 2 cars, 2 tired hot and hungry children and 6 adults and opened up the 'Cave' we were blown away with the size, we had room to park both cars easily and still had room to ride the bikes and children's scooter's around and play ball games. We had seen the photos of the house obviously but on climbing the stairs with our bags and cases we were amazed at the sheer size of the property we were speechless, their is everything you need and of very high standard, we could not fault it at all also such a pretty pretty garden. Its the perfect place to relax and enjoy a beautiful holiday.

Visit the surrounding areas its a must - especially the caves Chasm Cabrespine and nearby Villefranche de Conflent medieval walled town. Perpignan is a must too, great for shopping and finish off with a good meal in the evening (it comes alive at night). Also Argeles-sur-Mer is a little drive away but well worth it, go for the day, beaches are amazing, pick a beach bar and for a small fee you have the use of all their facilities all day, also has a water park near by horse riding and fun fair, again comes alive early evening with music, dozens of restaurants and ice cream parlours and markets. All in all we had an amazing holiday in a lovely part of France (well worth a visit) but to top it all was Richard and Sue's lovely holiday home that made it so perfect.

Thank You

Roomy, comfortable fantastic vista.

First of all thanks to owner Richard for giving us lots of information about the house, town and plenty of recommendations. Also thanks to local contacts, Davey, Jan and family for their help and advice while we were at the house; they told us about a really beautiful spot to swim locally which meant we could knock the idea of driving to any beach on the head.

The listing itself was fine. Do not let the street view photo fool you - the house is rather like the tardis. The spaces inside are very generous. Each bedroom has a large ensuite so privacy is assured for every member of your group. I was very pleased with how clean the bathrooms were. The kitchen was well equipped, the living space comfortable with double height ceiling and the garden is well designed and planted. The wall of glass which frames the lovely view of the hills, the pool and the garden gives this house the "wow" factor. There is more than adequate seating outside and eating outside was lovely.

Everything was well maintained. Only small suggestion is that a fan be available for the rooms which have no windows - on the one or two nights when it was really hot, a fan would have been really appreciated. A problem with Internet connection was quickly sorted by Davey.

As well as the shop, you can find fresh vegetables, cheeses, meats and fish on different days of the week sold from vans outside the bar. Visits are announced on the town's tannoy system so it does help if someone in the group speaks French. To give you an idea of the place, The church bell sounds the hour every hour - twice but that is part of the village's charm. You soon get used to it. We were very happy to just chill out by the pool, walk to the river or just take short walks. I would recommend this as a great base to experience a way of life that in many parts of the region is dying.

Owner's Response: We're glad the family enjoyed the house and garden so much. We have taken on board the recommendation to provide a fan in the twin bedrooms, however we would like to emphasize that these two rooms are spacious and airy and have plenty of natural daylight, but unlike the two double bedrooms, they don't have a view. Hopefully the photos show how comfortable and well appointed all the bedrooms are.

Beaux volumes pour cette maison au calme avec piscine

  • 4 of 5
