Built in the final decade of the 19th century, it initially served as the home of the family’s great-grandfather, whose nickname was “The Prince”and his home was known as the “House of the Prince”.After the 1970s the property fell into disrepair until 2012, when my wife Thalina and I embarked on a project to bring the House back to its original glory. Hence was the House of the Prince reborn as a boutique holiday rental in 2014.

The House of Prince can host up to 8 people in 3 independent self-catering suites in two 2 separate buildings, the main building and the guest house.

All 3 suites have their own entrance, bathroom, kitchen with all mod-cons, Wireless LAN, Air Conditioning, Hairdryer, High Quality Linen, Heating, Safety Deposit Box, Smart TV, Shower.

I ‘ve studied Civil Engineering in Aachen and am working in Athens for , an award winning, multi-sector focused Investment Advisory and Consulting Engineering specialist.

It was fascinating restoring the “House of Prince”, bringing it back to its original glory and now sharing it with people all around the world.

We ‘ll make every effort to share our knowledge of the area with you, direct you to our favourite tavernas and shops, suggest the best beaches of our region, and assist you in any way to spend a genuine, truly unique and unforgettable experience under the greek sun!

Why they chose this property

- Located in the second biggest island of Greece, only 1,5h from Athens, it has the great advantage of being reachable either by car or by ferry.
- A location combining country and sea holidays, unspoiled sandy beaches and mountains, allows you to be amused by the natural beauty, the traditional picturesque villages and the magnificent gorges all year long.
- Styra is an ancient city built by the Driopes, one of the first Greek tribes which inhabited the Greek territory. Interesting sights can become part of your daily expeditions such as the amazing Drakospita, mysterious megalithic structures, the Acropolis of Styra (castle of Armenon), the great fountain and the folklore museum of Kapsala.
-Visitors fond of hiking, mountaineering, trekking, nature lovers will find here a fascinating opportunity to exercise their outdoor activities. Guests and children are encouraged to walk around and play in the yard, pick fruits, observe the trees and the bird life.
-The House of Prince is open all year round.

What makes this property unique

The House of Prince” was firstly built in the final decade of the 19th century and served as the family home of my great-grandfather, Dimitris Batsolas, whose nickname was “The Prince”.

His family eventually relocated to the Euboean coastal town of Nea Styra around the late 1960s, whereby the House was left abandoned. As time went by, the House gradually decayed to its ruins, seeing its roof, walls and floors collapsing and disintegrating over the last 50 years.

My first treasured contact with the House was in 1996, I had joined my uncle Vangelis Batsolas (Trikoupis) on a quick stop-by around the House to water its harbouring trees, which -as in the old times- even to date provide our family with fresh lemons, oranges and pomegranates. I will never forget the lingering, prevalent vibe emanating from the old crumbling House gazing over the valley of the area.
In 2012, my family and I embarked on a project to bring the House back to its original glory, preserving the history of what could be salvaged and be protected within its remaining walls through the guidance of S.K. Aegis, a preeminent advisory firm.

The renovations lasted for more than two years. Local craftsmen paid extreme attention to all the details and realized tailored made pieces, leveraging their experience and creativity, using local materials from the surroundings in order to preserve the historical local architecture of the property.

The suites have been decorated by my wife, Thalina, with authentic, elegant period furniture, eminent objects of virtue, chandelliers and precious antiques from her family. The original stone oven, which cooked the food for over a century, has been completely preserved in the yard in front of the former stall and was again re-used in 2014. Water can be drawn from the House’s original fountain well, which gave its water to the houses across the neighbourhood in the early 1900s.
This is only the beginning of a story – there is much more that we invite you to discover.
