2 Bedrooms, In Town, close to Beach and Great Base for Sussex
I want to make sure all guests have a great and comfortable stay. It makes me happy to ensure those who stay in my apartment are happy. I love this grade 2 listed building and love the fact I can share it with others. Plus Littlehampton is a great place to explore and explore the South Coast from.
Patrick purchased this Apartment in 2014
Why Patrick chose Littlehampton
It has a cosy warm feel with low ceilings (6ft) being in the basement, which adds to the adventure of been away. It is so central to everything you need in a town. It is very private yet so near everything. It is 1 minute walking to 3 supermarkets, 5 pubs, 5+ restaurants, cafes, etc. Plus only a stones throw away from the harbour and sea/ beach. It is set in a lovely grade 2 listed building and we found pictures of it going back to at least 1705, the place having been a tailors, bakers and fishing cottages. It is a friendly town full of character, it has kept a lovely village community feel, people are welcoming and laid back. Looking out has a mix of places like Brighton and Winchester, the Georgian to the new.

The property was lovely clean and well presented. A lovely touch with the wine left in the fridge.
After the initial issue if finding the front door, our stay was really good. Concerns of the apartment being below a pub and the noise were not an issue. Well situated with all the amenities you could ask for. Would use this place again 😀
Do not apply if over 6ft.
tl;dr - I'm 6ft4, my girlfriend is 5ft9 - neither of us could stand up.
That being said? The apartment is comfy, cosy and very well decked out with everything you could possibly need. The beds are excellent and very comfortable and there's plenty of floor space. Literally the only real gripe about the place is the height!
The outside of the apartment could probably use a little work and the interior could do with some tidying up (light fixture in the shower has a big gap between ceiling and light & exterior needs new concrete and just the moss being removed!)
Other than that? Lovely to stay in and the guys have obviously spenty a lot of time and effort getting it into ship shape!
pleasent, convenient and practical
A small but very pleasant apartment. We were fine but the stairs down are very steep and the ceilings very low which could be a problem for some people.
Great little place to stay.
I've stayed at the Sea Chest twice now, and it's fast becoming a home from home as I return fairly frequently to visit family and friends. My children love the place when they come to visit, with all it's cool little features and mysterious nooks and crannies. They especially love the mini pool table.
I love that I can cook in the cosy little kitchen and don't have to go out to eat all the time, perhaps I am a rarity in that respect, but for me having a functional kitchen in a holiday rental is a major feature. Although, the kitchen is fairly basic in it's accessories and could do with some egg cups and a frying pan, maybe another cooking pot. Perhaps some sharper knives too!
I really like all the recent improvements, including the upgraded entrance to the apartment, and the new fixtures in the shower, plus the use of a spare key! The smell from the drains in the kitchen is still a little bit of an issue when using the sink, but nothing a strong disinfectant can't resolve.
In all, I really enjoy staying at the Sea Chest, and hope to be doing so for a long as it is available over the coming years.
Many thanks for a really positive review, I am glad you appreciate the improvements, we are always aiming to make your stay a happy one.
I will certainly look into your suggestions.
I see you couldn't find the frying pan and egg cups (they are like little buckets), they were there.
All the best, and hope to see you again soon.
Nicely decorated and comfortable beds, but backache a problem
Ok, always start with the positives. The owner was very communicative and clearly goes to a lot of trouble to make you welcome. The apartment has 2 good sized bedrooms with comfortable beds and is well equipped and nicely done out. there was a small bottle of wine and some biscuits as a welcome gift which is a nice touch.
Now the problems. This is a very small apartment. The ceilings are only 6 feet tall, and the light fittings / joists are more like 5ft8. If you are not Hobbit sized then you will have a bad back after any legnth of stay (both my wife and I suffered) so you will be glad of the comfortable beds. The steps leading down to the door are very steep (not good for kids) and the apartment is right in the middle of town (so there was a bit of noise from the pub next door). There is quite a bit of difficulty parking unless you are happy to pay, although it said in the guide that a parking permit can be provided if you ask (I did ask about parking but was not offered the permit). I have to mention the drains - unfortunately being in the basement there are pumps to move the water from the shower and kitchen up to the drains and I'm afraid they cause the most horrible smell when you turn on the tap and they activate.
In summary - I did sympathyse with the owners that they have gone to a lot of trouble to make it as nice as possible, but there are better options out there.
Thank you for being positive and we do want to do the best for our guests and give good value too!
Other points, the height of the ceiling is mentioned in our information, and sadly there is no parking permit which would have been explained on request. I am at a loss as to the drains but I can assure you if it was mentioned it would have been dealt with swiftly.
Thank you once again, I can assure you that our aim is to give good value.
