2 Bedrooms, In Town, close to Beach and Great Base for Sussex

Unique basement (in a building going back at least to 1705) accommodation all new furnishings and fittings.

The ceilings average 6ft high, yet it still feels light and airy, as the pictures show.

2 double bedrooms, lounge TV and blu-ray player, kitchen ceramic hob, oven and microwave, shower room. Electric Heating.

2 large windows means a very light feel.

Wi Fi Broadband included. There are also a box of board games, and mini snooker table. Family sized washing machine & tumble drier.

The cost includes heating and electricity.

For going out a picnic hamper and porttable table is provided for your use.

Situated 30m from The Look and Sea Centre (by the river), just off the High Street. Only 2min walk to the rail station, and 5 min to the Beach.

Pets are welcome as long as we know and guests make sure they behave.

A great location to relax and explore being within easy access to all that is best in Sussex.

Why Peter Bedford chose West Sussex

It has a cosy warm feel with low ceilings (6ft) which add to the adventure of been away. It is so central to everything you need in a town. It is very private yet so near everything. It is 1 minute walking to 3 supermarkets, 5 pubs, 5+ restaurants, cafes, etc. Plus only a stones throw away from the harbour and sea/ beach. It is set in a lovely grade 2 listed building and we found pictures of it going back to at least 1705, the place having been a tailors, bakers and fishing cottages. It is a friendly town full of character, it has kept a lovely village community feel, people are welcoming and laid back. Looking out has a mix of places like Brighton and Winchester, the Georgian to the new.

A freshly designed modern apartment with everything you need for a home from home.

A hideaway no one will notice you are in the centre of town.

There is no need to use the car as the train station only 2 min away takes you to most of the attractions in Sussex and Hampshire.

A discount of 15% on Hair/Nails/ beauty and Wigs in the salon (Hairlucinations) just above the apartment.

Nicely decorated and comfortable beds, but backache a problem

Ok, always start with the positives. The owner was very communicative and clearly goes to a lot of trouble to make you welcome. The apartment has 2 good sized bedrooms with comfortable beds and is well equipped and nicely done out. there was a small bottle of wine and some biscuits as a welcome gift which is a nice touch.

Now the problems. This is a very small apartment. The ceilings are only 6 feet tall, and the light fittings / joists are more like 5ft8. If you are not Hobbit sized then you will have a bad back after any legnth of stay (both my wife and I suffered) so you will be glad of the comfortable beds. The steps leading down to the door are very steep (not good for kids) and the apartment is right in the middle of town (so there was a bit of noise from the pub next door). There is quite a bit of difficulty parking unless you are happy to pay, although it said in the guide that a parking permit can be provided if you ask (I did ask about parking but was not offered the permit). I have to mention the drains - unfortunately being in the basement there are pumps to move the water from the shower and kitchen up to the drains and I'm afraid they cause the most horrible smell when you turn on the tap and they activate.

In summary - I did sympathyse with the owners that they have gone to a lot of trouble to make it as nice as possible, but there are better options out there.

Other points, the height of the ceiling is mentioned in our information, and sadly there is no parking permit which would have been explained on request. I am at a loss as to the drains but I can assure you if it was mentioned it would have been dealt with swiftly. Thank you once again, I can assure you that our aim is to give good value.

Horrible

Possibly the worst place we have ever stayed. Dirty, smelly, next door to a very noisy pub where people vomited down the steps to the accomodation. We informed the landlord of our complaints but he didn't seem at all concerned. Never again.

Owner's Response: I am at a loss and very disappointed. The review to be unfounded. These concerns were only raised 2 weeks after leaving. Any comments are respected and responded to quickly. However as the guests made no effort in their stay to contact the manager or owner, which surely they would feel the need to have their concerns checked and rectified. Reviews immediately before ("excellent, everything you would need for a stay") and after their stay ("excellent weekend break") have only been constructive and positive as all previous reviews have been 5 stars. Recent reviews on other sites, mention cleanliness and location as positive points only. The apartment is thoughly and professionally cleaned after all visits (nothing was found on the stairs down to the entrance). I can assure anyone staying I take every possible care to ensure guests that they have an enjoyable and relaxing break.

Excellent weekend break

We throughly enjoyed our stay at Sea Chest. Nice modern and clean apartment. Perfect location for Arundel & Brighton and also the shops and restaurants in Littlehampton. Would highly recommend staying here. Also recommend restaurants 47 Mussel Row & Chopsticks, also 64 degrees (in Brighton)

Excellent!! Everything you could want or need for a stay

We absolutely loved the apartment!!!

It was comfortable, cosy and quaint but at the same time had all the mod cons you could wish for. It was so very quaint and different and whoever designed the décor did a brilliant job using all the space available.

The location was excellent also, with a number of good restaurants/takeaways. The Harbour area was very clean and up to date and we all agreed that we would love to return and didn't really want to come home - FANTASTIC!!!!!

It's really nice property. The environment is new and clean. You can find everything what you need for short or long break. It's close to Town Centre, Sea and River. Highly recommend!
