History, elegance, peaceful with that secluded country setting. The Weston House Cabin is located In the heart of Ohio farm country and close to Amish Country. Check out our video walk through tour of the property in the video section! Our two story 1833 log cabin has been restored and integrated with a new log cabin. The 4500 square foot, 5 room (9 beds) 3 bath custom Amish built cabin is situated on 55 acres of rolling hill farm country, conveniently located about 30 miles from Mount Vernon, Coshocton, Newark or Zanesville (52 mi NE of Columbus).
We have been hosting for 15 years had over 500 different stays. So, we have an extensive history of guests who have provided us valuable feedback that has helped us become one of the best vacation rentals in Ohio!!! You get a 5 star experience when you come here, everything you could expect in a vacation cabin and then some. We get top rankings for families and friend gatherings alike.
Relax in the hot tub on the ENCLOSED back porch and watch the wild life, or sit before a cozy crackling fire in the large family room fireplace. This cabin is a place to relax and enjoy the beautiful scenery, the ultimate place to unplug!! While technology is still available, you will want to lay that phone down, close that tablet or computer and go on a hike of the property, breathe that clean air and reinvigorate your spirit with the beautiful surroundings.
How would I describe the place? Rustic Amish charm and country elegance all in one beautifully appointed cabin. The house offers a fully equipped, spacious gorgeous kitchen, a wonderful place to cook while enjoying time with the family. The cabin is very clean, spacious, plenty of room for up to 15 people. It has Dish Network satellite TV and satellite wireless Internet. The wireless internet is not high speed, therefore it does not have the bandwidth to stream movies or videos. However, you can do basic internet searches, email, etc.. Most of our guests come to the cabin to unplug and escape from the busy technical world and don't mind the slower internet speeds! Cell service is not the best for some carriers. Verizon is strong enough to stream videos or movies while AT&T has the lowest bars of all carriers. I do make available a Verizon Jet Pack so in the event you need high speed internet you will have it. Something else to mention is we are in the country and as such you can see things like insects of all kinds, deer, groundhogs, raccoons and bats. IT IS RARE that you will experience any of these during your stay but in the event you do, let us know immediately so that we can address it. We do our best to exterminate for these pests but they are curious and determined to get in at times. Bats are a protected species in Ohio therefore, we cannot exterminate for those. But we have built them a bat house at the back of the property to draw them away from the cabin. The few times a bat got in the cabin was when the doors and windows were left wide open at night. So, I always tell my guests to keep them closed so that doesn't happen. They are curious little creatures and if given the chance, they will come in and say hello! If that happens, let us know immediately.
Your safety and security is our number one priority!! Most guests don’t consider this aspect when they are looking at properties. We have extra carbon monoxide detectors in every room on every level, fire extinguishers and smoke detectors in every space. We want you to feel that extra sense of safety when you stay with us. Don’t settle for anything less than the best!
Nearby property is available for deer hunting during hunting season and the cabin is near Woodbury Nature Preserve (public hunting) which is only 20 minutes away. Many of our guests have hunted Woodbury and never gone home empty handed. We also have some local land available on an Amish Farm that is rentable by the day.
The Surrounding Area: Set in the heart of Ohio farm country, the cabin sits on it's own 55 acre farm. The area is rural, and scenery consists of rolling hills, woods, farms and farm land. We are about as far away from the hectic life as you can get in Ohio. There are miles of gravel roads in the area with low traffic, suitable for biking, walking or even horseback riding.
You are probably wondering what is there to do in this area? There are many activities from zip lines to winery tours. We will be happy to put together a list of what to do, just let us know what you're interested in.
The owners, Frank and Lisa Stahl, have another farm within 1.5 miles of the cabin and encourage guests to enjoy the farm sights at both locations. Our amount of interaction with you is controlled by you. You can have the peace and quiet at the cabin or spend time on the farm with us - it's up to you. We primarily keep the livestock at our farm, and are doing hay at the cabin. If you like animals, we'd be really happy to share some of our farming practices and let you visit with the sheep (if they cooperate). Spring time is the best time to see young animals especially the lambs!! We are an authentic farming operation raising registered, grass fed shorthorn cattle and Katahdin Sheep. We also have horses, chickens, dogs, and cats. Typically we have around 25 cows and calves, and between 40 and 100 sheep.
