About the property

An enchanting fishermans cottage on 3 floors with 2 bedrooms with bathrooms en suite. Although the down stairs bedroom has a murphy bed on the wall that. Can be put away and the room used as another living space if so desired.

The middle floor is Kitchen come sitting room. And the top floor bedroom leads on to a balcony with further steps up onto the roof terrace. Which has glorious views of the sea roof tops of the old town and the mountains. It has a large table for dinners on the roof. The house is not particularly suitable for families with small children as the roof is quite high up. Although it is wonderful for couples or for adults with grown up children. They can even sleep up on the roof if so desired.

We are right in the center of the old town with glorious views from the roof terrace 360 degrees we are close to restaurants shops beaches and buses and trains yet in the prettiest street in the old town.

Fantastic Old Town location. Amazing Roof Terrace. Well equipped.

Great location in the Old Town. Minutes walk from everything you need - the outdoor market, several supermarkets, numerous restaurants, public beaches...A great location for a couple or for a stay with close friends/ family (living space and roof terrace are accessed via the bedrooms). The house is beautifully and thoughtfully put together to maximize the space and is well equipped. Recent local driving/parking restrictions should be noted on arrival/ departure. If you've hired a car, take a look at the online 7 day deals at Q, Port Vauban which is less than 1km away and very secure.

Tired, hot, heavily overpriced

Based on previous positive experiences with booking an accommodation through Homeaway, we did not hesitate to book this cottage for a month thinking that Homeaway represents a certain guarantee for good standards.

The highly praised roof terrace had no lights at all so we went out and bought lights for approximately EURO 100,- in order to dine on the terrace after sundown. The manager/cleaning lady when asked upon our arrival stated that indeed there were no lights available.

The terrace offers a beautiful view upon the sea but the 360 degree view also includes the view of the opposite placed gendarmerie, which we found quite unpleasant when trying to dress in the above placed bedroom. This bedroom was apart from being unbearably hot lacking curtains. The only way to avoid dressing in front of the gendarmes was to roll down the shutters which again resulted in no fresh air arriving in the bedroom. The small shower and toilet was only separated from the walk through by a defect wooden sliding door not allowing for any privacy.

Concerning the kitchen, it was not very well equipped and the dishwasher did not work properly, leaving the dirty dishes unclean. The refrigerator was also defect. We had to throw away several food articles seeing that they were all frozen. Cooking in that kitchen was a trial seeing that it lacked almost everything from pots and pans and a knife able to cut a cooked egg. The main reason for us to book an apartment or in this case a house was to cook our own meals, which this kitchen did not invite any guests to do.

The downstairs ‘bedroom’ was the less hot room in the house. Unfortunately the matrasses were worn out and extremely uncomfortable. All in all the entire house lacks care and love expecting the guests to ‘cope’ with the multiple problems. Seeing that we were on holiday, we were not prepared to take on the role of property management, which is why we chose to leave less than a week after our arrival.

Even though the owner offered to amend some of the problems after we announced that we would be leaving, we did not find that feasible and definitely not okay comparing the state of the house and the price asked for this month of rental fee. We expect value for money and not an accommodation needing a renovation.

So for this holiday we simply paid twice, as a refund was not given. But we had a beautiful holiday,- once we moved.

A little paradise in the old town!!

We arrived late in the day and after a full day travelling this gorgeous cottage in the old town was a real delight. Cool, light, beautifully furnished, spotlessly clean and really comfortable. The roof terrace was perfect for sun-downers before we went out for dinner. The location is perfect, at the centre of the old town only a few steps from the covered market, on a tiny quiet street without traffic or pedestrian noise. A little bit of Heaven!! We will be back!!
