The house is surrounded by 50 hectares of land with views of the hinterland Ragusa and Mount Etna, from the classic "dry stone walls" of Ragusa campaign that divided the possessions from one landowner to another. On the ground floor there are four large courtyards, a church where until a few years ago took place the usual Sunday Mass and a 18,000 square meter park with an age-old maritime pine over 30 meters surrounded by plants and Sicilian fruit trees such as almonds, walnuts and pistachios. One of the four courtyards under the house leads first to a room and two bathrooms in the pool area service, then right at the garden with a 13x7m swimming pool with Jacuzzi, with blue sun beds to lie down and sunbathe comfortably, a gazebo if necessary, where to have lunch or dinner or even converse, and lots of games to entertain both inside and outside the pool in the meadow children.

At 500 meters the restaurant and pizzeria "At the court of Bacchus" and above 1 km shopping center ibleo IperCoop with supermarket, newsagent, clothes and souvenirs. Continuing between the Baroque UNESCO heritage city, the Villa is 10 minutes from Ragusa, the "Vigata" Montalbano, a 20 minute drive from Modica and Scicli and the nearest beaches, located in Marina di Ragusa and Punta Secca, the "Marinella" Montalbano "and 5 km from the Castle of Donnafugata, where you can see the famous collection of the family" of Arezzo Trefiletti "belonged to our great-grandfather. Syracuse and Noto are 45 minutes away by car. The Catania airport is 100 km.
About the Inspector Montalbano, almost an entire episode was filmed inside the Villa, "The Cat and the Goldfinch".
Ideal for families with children, young couples or friends who want to spend their holidays together.
Come to us not as tourists but as guests!
Beautiful peaceful villa, warm hospitality, elegantly restored on the outside whilst retaining traditional character inside. Great pool, good location for visiting most of south east Sicily. One of the owners lives on the ground floor, but unless you seek him out you wouldn't know, your privacy is respected. Will definitely be back.
As a family of four we spent a fantastic two weeks at Villa Sortino Trono. This charming old farmhouse stands in its own enormous grounds surrounded by countryside, and yet the supermarket and shops of Ragusa are five minutes’ drive away. The walled garden which houses the pool was perfect for taking it easy, with lots of sunbeds and seating and shady trees. If you wanted the beach, Punta Secca or Punta Scoglitti are both 25 minutes away with nice golden sand and there are plenty of beautiful baroque towns and villages to explore along the way. A big thank you to Giovanni and his family who looked after us, supplied us with home grown figs, lemons and lemon tea and even bought me a locally made cake for my birthday! I would certainly recommend the villa for families and we would happily return ourselves another year.
We spent two amazing weeks at the villa with our three children (14, 13, 10 years). The villa offers an exclusive and secluded base to explore the surrounding baroque towns (e.g. Ragusa Ibla, Modica) and stunning sandy beaches (e.g. Punta Secca, Sampieri, Marina di Ragusa) all within 35 minute radius. We also loved tonsimply laze at the beautiful pool. The children were delighted with the use of many pool toys and inflatables. The owners, Giovanni and his family, were very attentive and kind. The villa is clean, well maintained and fully equipped with all you could need to make you feel at home, The close shopping centre is very handy. The sun rises and sun sets are unforgettable; the old church remains and the big tree add to the retreat experience. The gentle breeze is very welcome in the summer heat. It can be windy at night as it is high on a mountain, so bring warm clothing! We highly recommend this villa for families and others who are seeking a luxurious and relaxing holiday in a private setting. Thank you Giovanni for a most memorable holiday
