About Mark Livesey
Living in Kent and working in London, we bought Meadowview to escape the hustle and bustle and spend time together. So peaceful and relaxing, yet bike rides and walks, as well as top class restaurants, all within 5 minutes from the front door.
Mark Livesey purchased this Cottage in 2004
Why Mark Livesey chose Long Melford
The pretty flint cottage met all our requirements, close enough to beautiful restaurants and shops, but without the need to have to spend the weekend driving to get to them. Sat in the rear garden, you have uninterrupted views of Constable's famous water meadows and wildlife.
What makes this Cottage unique
Everything is so close at hand, yet the garden transports you to the heart of the countryside.
Beautiful little cosy cottage in this really lovely country village.
Spent a long weekend in this lovely little cottage! Everything you needed to hand. So clean warm and cosy! Felt at home as soon as we entered. Gave the front bedroom to my daughter and husband as they have a 6month old! Plenty of space for all that she brought with her!! So we had the back bedroom! So lovely to wake up each morning overlooking the water meadows!! One morning we had about 30 cows grazing at the bottom of garden! Just added to the weekend. The village itself is one of my favourites in the area, interesting little shops, galleries pubs, tea rooms restaurants! And what a great little bakery! You must try. Friday night was made complete from the great fish and chip shop!! Which is also a Chinese take away. Just a village but has such a lot going on! Use to use hotels when visiting family in the area!! But will definitely be checking out the availability of this beautiful cottage from now on.
We are so grateful to you for having taken the time to write such a lovely review. Must say that the fish and chip shop is our favourite too, and people really do travel from miles around to use it. Look forward to having you stay again to explore some more! xx
Great break lovely cottage
The property is very well equipped. We didn't expect towels, toilet paper or washing up liquid. Very clean and smelt lovely and fresh throughout our visit.
Didn't have chance to sit in the garden but saw the cows every morning. Great kitchen, dining area and bathrooms. One of the bedrooms was a little small but nothing that we didn't expect and both our elderly parents and ourselves had comfortable nights sleep. Plenty of places to eat within walking distance. Although we had to park on road had no problem parking close.
We never heard a thing from neighbours.
Lots of places to visit nearby
Thank you so much for taking the tim etc write such a lovely review. Really pleased you enjoyed your stay and would love to welcome you back Linda! x

A very good experience
Location brilliant peaceful and clean
Cannot rate this property high enough. We enjoyed the view of the countryside and the cows and just a short walk to five or six pubs offering food and a couple of tea rooms. Location in the middle of a beautiful area and the people of suffolk so laid back. Very clean and a great nights sleep in the two double beds. Brilliant.
Thank you so much Jacqui for your lovely review. Would love for you to stay again. Best wishes Mark
The down side was on road parking , the road was very busy .
Overall a good holiday , plenty of excellent food in the village .
Thanks Chris and thank you for your email saying you had a great time. The village is very popular this time of year!
Long Melford set in the stunning Stour Valley (immortalised by John Constable) boasts the longest tree-lined village street in the country. The village dates from the Tudor times and many of the fine buildings which were built during this time still remain, though today housing restaurants, art galleries, fashion boutiques and pubs. By the large village green sits the grade I listed Holy Trinity Church, with its Cathedral proportions it is regarded amongst England's finest churches. The magnificent Melford Hall also sits in the village, once frequented by Beatrix Potter, it is open to the public and still has her original Jemima Puddleduck toy. The fine Kentwell Hall sits on the edge of the village and is a must if you are a fan of Tudor re-enactments.
Long Melford is the perfect base for exploring the lovely Suffolk countryside, with many country walks setting out from the village and the South Suffolk Cycle Route is only yards from Meadowview's front door.
