Property was in a great location. Perfect size for the 4 of us. More toilet rolls would have been good. Nice to have garden and car parking.
A fabulous quaint warm & cosy cottage-5 stars out of 5
There were 4 adults staying in the cottage but there was more than enough room for us all to relax. The bathroom was great with a powerful shower. Lots of hot water at all times. All the beds were comfortable with extra covers & pillows if needed. The kitchen had everything you could want & was clean & tidy.
I can't say enough about the cottage to encourage you to come & try it for yourself. If there are a few of us wanting to visit the area I would certainly come back to this cottage again. If just me& one other I would try the smaller cottage that Jane has to offer.
Great place to stay
This cottage was very nice. Perfect location! Lovely village.
Highly recommended for its location, parking, comfort, and price. I felt at home there.
Carol Cottage is very conveniently located to both exploring Chipping Campden by foot and the Cotswolds by car. It’s simply but adequately furnished and clean. The Co-op is a 2-minute walk from the cottage and the Noel Arms is only a minute’s walk with great food. The pretty plants outside the front and back doors were cheerful.
Parking is just behind the cottage. The space accommodates one car with another parked behind it. There is a small fenced-in backyard with a large patio table.
The kitchen was well equipped with a large (by UK standards) fridge/freezer. There’s a gas range and oven but we had to pull out the manual to see how to work them. Dish towels and a variety of cleaning products were supplied. The only thing we really missed was an oven mitt. The washer worked well but like all European combination washer/dryer we’ve used, the dryer was essentially useless. We were able to dry clothes by hanging them over radiators or on hangers around the cottage, something we’ve done at nearly every rental cottage in the UK. A laundry line in the backyard would have been nice as long as the pigeons didn’t roost on it!
The TV in the living area was of a nice size and the room was cozy and comfortable. To the side is a dining table for 4 but if your party were larger you’d need to use the coffee tables and sofa to seat everyone for a meal, or the outdoor dining table. The half-bath downstairs was really convenient.
Upstairs are 3 bedrooms, again simply but adequately furnished. There was sufficient storage in the closets which have been outfitted with shelving. It was quiet at night but the chatter of early morning shoppers, neighbors greeting each other, or even the clip-clop of a horse rider could be heard from the master’s bedroom. This was not a problem for us, in fact we enjoyed feeling like part of the community. Contrary to what one review said, the master bedroom has an American double-sized, not queen-size. The other rooms have twin beds.
Heat can easily be controlled by thermostat. We always had sufficient hot water, something that can’t be taken for granted in a rental cottage. The upstairs bathroom was fairly recently remodeled with some storage along the wall. One suggestion might be hooks on the door of the bath or on the back of the bedroom doors to hang wet towels. For 2 people, we had no problem hanging towels over the radiator but for larger parties it could be a problem.
Overall, Carol Cottage was a great value!
The house is well positioned and excellent for the town. The house is compact but well laid out and good value for money.
Christmas at Carl cottage.
We had a wonderful Christmas holiday. Thank you Jane.
Welcome to our beautiful town, Chipping Campden in the Cotswolds. Campden is one of the most beautiful tourist destinations in the UK. With easy road access, it is ideal for a full vacation or just a short break. The central, location in the North Cotswolds makes an ideal base for your accommodation for a touring holiday.
Take a pictorial tour through these pages and get a taste of Olde Cotswold England - but if you really want to appreciate the feeling of staying in an old cotswold stone house in a town, hardly touched by the centuries, you'll just have to come and visit us.
Due to its central location in the north Cotswolds, Campden is also a perfect place to stay with plentiful accommodation. You can enjoy the delights not only of this charming old wool merchants' town, but also the nearby surrounding shire counties of Oxfordshire, Worcestershire and Warwickshire. From Blenheim Palace and the Cotswolds to the south, to Worcester and the Malverns to the west plus Stratford-upon-Avon and Warwick (with the best medieval castle in Europe) all within an hour's journey.
