Are you looking for a chance to experience 'real' Italy & get away from it all? Well The Hideaway is your perfect holiday retreat. Our beautiful farmhouse is in the heart of the Le Marche countryside near Amandola & is surrounded by nature, with peaceful valley views.

We have 3 High Quality Apartments which have been traditionally renovated - cotto flooring & wooden beams accompany modern day necessities, including wi-fi throughout! Everything is provided to ensure you have an enjoyable stay with extra special touches such as a welcome hamper, hair dryer, pool towels & toiletries.

Set in 2.5 acres, you can relax in the garden, chill out on a hammock, play games or laze in the pool before a busy day exploring the unspoilt Sibillini area . Nature lovers will be amazed by eagles, wild boar & porcupines nearby & the clear night sky.

Sample delicious local cuisine & wine (of course) & visit one of the many colourful festivals. With hilltop towns to explore, museums, theatres, mountain walks & endless outdoor activities, there really is something for everyone.

Your beautiful two bedroomed, well appointed self-catering apartment is situated upstairs in our 17th century farmhouse with views over the peaceful countryside & woodland & sleeps up to 4 guests.

Everything is provided to ensure your stay with us is a memorable one. With your own private entrance via the covered loggia & an area for dining & relaxing outside, you enter the living room with comfy armchair & double sofa bed, satellite TV, DVD, CD player, games & books for your entertainment.

The separate fully-equipped kitchen has an electric oven, Nespresso machine, four burner gas hob, fridge. freezer, microwave, toaster, kettle, cafetierre, stick blender, plenty of glassware, crockery & cooking utensiles & a dining area. There is a washing machine next door, with airer, iron & ironing board & a weekly use is included. If you require more than one wash a week, a small charge will be made for any additional use. For stays of more than 7 nights, towels & linen are changed at the end of your first week.

Your romantic master bedroom with comfy double bed & luxury bedding has views over Montefalcone & wooden beams & internal shutters for a very peaceful nights sleep. In fact we have had guests who didn't wake up till midday as it was so dark & cosy! Also included is a safe & hairdryer, wardrobe, bedside tables & chest of drawers.

The second bedroom has two single beds & wardrobe & is idea for children. Your bathroom has a shower, wc, wash basin & complimentary toiletries, with amazing views from the loo.

A welcome pack is provided to get your holiday underway, including a bottle of delicious wine waiting for you on arrival! We grow many beautiful herbs and vegetables in the garden which are available when in season, for you to use during your stay at The Hideaway.

Outside there is a terrace for relaxing, gazebos for dining & socialising & our large garden provides areas for chilling out, reading & BBQing or swimming in the pool (from May - September).

We live in the house next door & can be reached easily if you need any help or advice.

Our beautiful area is delightful in every season, so why not try a different time of year for a change?

In Spring, the magical carpets of flowers on the mountains of the Sibillini National Park are simply stunning. With wild orchids, narsissi, cyclamen and violets, they are a photographers delight. If you love hiking then the mild spring temperatures makes exploring the mountains easier than in the heat of the summer. The Spring blossom of almond, cherry and apple and fresh greens of the new tree growth are beautiful.

There are many great markets to visit and festivals all around. You will even find a Frog Racing Festival! Easter Celebrations to attend. Any rain tends to come in brief shower and there is usually still snow on the mountain tops.

In Autumn we have the the ideal temperatures for hiking or cycling in the Sibillini Mountains once again and the ever-changing Autumn colours are simply stunning.

Then there is the grape harvest in September and a visit to our local vineyard is a must. With an interesting museum of old wine making equipment and vats you will be shown how the wine used to be produced and how it is produced now. Then of course there is the free wine tasting - try the Vin Cotto - it's delicious!

November is the olive harvest and a visit to the local press in an interesting experience. You can even take part helping to pick and process the olives.

Other Autumn festivals include, Apiro (near Cingoli) & Fermo - Sagra della polenta, Montecassiano - Sagra del pesce (fish), Cupramontana - grape festival in the heart of Verdicchio wine country in September, Piandimileto (near Urbino) - Mushroom fair, Lapedona (near Fermo) - Sagra del Vino Cotto (don't miss this one!), Arcevia - Sagra dell'uva (grape festival)

As Winter arrives, snow falls and the crisp white descends all around. The roads are kept immaculate and even on our local lane, the snow plough clears the road several time a day if necessary.

With skiing and snow-boarding nearby at Sassotetto and the new ski lodge, the runs are suitable for beginners & intermediates. There is even a baby run (for children and the less adventurous adults!).

Our local Boxing Day Live Nativity must not be missed - complete with live animals, music, candle-light and costumes of the time - simply magical.

Try truffle hunting - a speciality of the Amandola region. We can arrange truffle hunting trips or even wild boar hunting.

So whatever the season, each has it's own, beautiful qualities and will be sure to delight you.

Looking for something different to do on holiday?

Le Marche is the ideal area to relax and take time to do something new. From cookery courses, where you can learn to make delicious local pasta dishes, to quad biking tours to visiting the local designer outlet stores. There are mule trekking adventures in the mountains, sky diving, hot air ballooning and white water rafting . You certainly won't be bored on your holiday with us!

About Mark and Sarah

Well we first met in 1984 at a catering college in Nottingham and have been working together in the hospitality and catering industry ever since. We fell in love with Italy and especially the stunning Le Marche region, where we were very lucky to find "The Hideaway" in 2001. We immediatly knew it was the place we wanted to be as soon as we set eyes on the two derelict farm buildings and have been restoring our traditional Italian farmhouse ever since. Where ever possible, the original materials have been cleaned up & used again - keeping the building as close as it was 300 years ago.

Along with enjoying our rescue dog, Jessie, we love growing fruit & veggies in our garden to share with our guests & living as healthy as possible, whilst loving our stunning, peaceful surroundings.

We would like to share our little piece of Italy with you & we invite you to experience all the things we love about this traditional land. If we can be of any assistance, especially with property buying, restorantion or builders (as we have been through it all before) then please do not hesitate to contact us. We live in a little rustico just next door, so are on hand for our guests if need be.

Mark and Sarah purchased this farmhouse in 2001

Why Mark and Sarah chose Fermo

The Hideaway is set in the most beautiful peaceful valley, which we just fell in love with the first time we drove down the private lane. Secure for children and dogs alike, we are immersed in hundreds of shades of green and wildlife and nature.

As we are so passionate about the area, we have lots of local knowledge and love helping our guests have the most perfect holiday. From where to dine in a local pizzeria to top class fine dining restaurants, we can help plan your stay. There are markets to visit, hill-top towns to explore and museums, churches and art galleries a-plenty.

Walkers and photographers alike will delight in the natural surroundings. There are so many walks in the Sibillini National Park to suit all levels and there are plenty of activities, from horse riding to paragliding to keep you busy during the day and fantastic restaurants at night.

Please do come and let us give you a holiday to remember!

What makes this farmhouse unique

*Peace and tranquillity all around.

*Convenient to explore Le Marche from the stunning Sibillini National Park to the Adriatic Coast, all within a 30 minute drive.

* Can be rented in conjunction with our other apartments, so we can accommodate larger families or groups (up to 12 guests). So come and have the place to yourselves!

* Enjoy local festivals and events

* Benefit from our local knowledge and learn all the best places to eat, drink and visit during your time with us.

Guestbook comments from the owner

We had a beautiful, peaceful time in your little oasis of calm. You have been wonderful hosts & we can not tank you enough for taking the time to help us with our car hire issues & for taking us to La Conca, so we could learn some Italian cooking from someone who knows what she is talking about. We can say for certain we will be back. See you soon Sarah & Mark.

Perfect in Every Way

  • 5 of 5

On arrival the Hideaway you can be assured of a warm welcome from the owners. Nestled in a beautiful valley is their stone farmhouse which has been lovingly converted into 3 luxury apartments. Oozing with rustic charm, yet boasting every modern convenience, tastefully furnished and well equipped. Start off by sitting in the beautifully manicured garden (a haven for wildlife and birds) and enjoy a glass of wine which will be waiting for you on arrival. There will also be enough groceries for your first few meals with Sarah’s home-made cakes to follow. Le Marche is not teaming with tourists. Here you can live like a local, buying wonderful fresh produce from the local markets and eating for very little in friendly family run restaurants. Do as little or as much as you want to – there are suggestions galore in the guide in your apartment. Any questions? - Don’t hesitate to ask - the owners live on site and are dedicated to giving you the best holiday experience ever. The countryside in this part of Italy will take your breath away. Drive around the deserted roads until you stumble upon one of the many charming hill top villages and step back to a forgotten time.

Another Wonderful Holiday at The Hideaway

  • 5 of 5

Having just returned from another wonderful holiday at The Hideaway, Amandola, I feel I must recommend it as a perfect place to relax in the beautiful countryside of Le Marche.

The apartment was well equiped - we wanted for nothing - and Sarah & Mark were always on hand to advise us and give us information about the walks, sightseeing and the coastline - which is only a 40 min. drive away.

At this spring time of year, the locals were busy ploughing the fields, the blossom was on the trees and everything a picture, green and fresh, but snow still remained on the tops of the mountains.

Sarah & Mark also have a wealth of knowledge of where to eat in the area - great recommendations.

I recommend it as a quiet relaxing place to stay but with many amenities around, with the true feel of Italy : the Italians are truly friendly people too.

Paradise

  • 5 of 5

We spent a wonderful week at The Hideaway in September. The location is breathtaking, the accommodation is comfortable and very well equipped and the hosts are marvellous.

We were greeted with home baked cakes, a selection of herbs and vegetables from the garden and a bottle of wine. What more do you need?

Sarah and Mark have gone to great lengths to make sure that you get the very best from your holiday and have created a wonderful home from home in Le Marche.

A lovely, peaceful hideaway indeed

  • 5 of 5

"The Hideaway" offered us a wonderfully peaceful stay in lovely surroundings. Our apartment was well furnished, and our hosts, Mark and Sarah, were beyond welcoming and helpful. We found the property's location perfect for access to all parts of the Sibillini National Park, as well as only a short drive to the marvels of Ascoli Piceno. We enjoyed eating at nearby restaurants recommended by our hosts, and eating home-cooked meals on our private terrace in the moon-light. And, in the heat of our visit, we were always grateful for the relief provided by a dip in cool water of the Hideaway's pool. We would certainly return on another visit.
