About Eti Wade

I am an artist and writer, I live with my family in North London. I own the flat in partnership with my friend Lou Hains. We enjoy hosting visitors from all over the world in our lovely, cute apartment in Islington and we love making the flat homely and comfortable, designing and furnishing the apartment to create an apartment that we would love to stay in ourselves.

Eti Wade purchased this apartment in 2013

Why Eti Wade chose Islington

Islington is one of the nicest neighbourhoods in Central London. Full of lovely cafes, restaurants, shops, antique shops and lovely outdoor and indoor spaces. It is also very central and provides easy access to so many other exciting parts of London. We couldn't imagine a bette place from which to enjoy London. A real neighbourhood close to everywhere but still with a residential heart beating through it.

What makes this apartment unique

Staying at our Islington Chic Cosy & Central apartment you will love the location, you will enjoy the comfort and cosiness of the apartment and appreciate the practical details of the fully equipped kitchen. Staying as a small group, you will appreciate the comfortable sofa bed in the living room allowing for separate sleeping for two guests or space for children or another adult sharing the holiday with you.

Guestbook comments from the owner

We really enjoyed our stay, the location was great (literally as close as you could possibly get to the great and getting better shops and restaurants of Islington) and the description of the flat was accurate and was very appropriately priced for the space. The flat was perfectly sized for three of us (two adults and one child) and we stayed for 8 days. The back bedroom was quiet and comforting (the fairy lights were a very nice touch). Our host met me promptly and showed me everything I needed to know about the flat.

The location was perfect. Close to everything, shopping, restaurants, and a lovely area to walk.

The apartment is perfect for two people. It was clean and has all the basics but no extras. The owners were very quick to answer any questions we had. It was good value for the money.

Owner's Response: Thanks so much for this clear and informative review. I am happy that you found the flat comfortable. I'm a little disappointed as to why you've only give it three stars and would love it if you could let me know what extras you would have liked us to provide because we are very keen to importer the visitors experience and have made the flat as comfortable and inviting as we can.

The flat was perfect for what we needed and the price was good.

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I stayed for 2 weeks when we visited our daughters from our new born grandson. The flat was clean it has all the essential's you could need in closing bath towels, Eti was very accomidating, since we arrived in London early in the morning. There are only 2 negatives in our eyes they are that there is no freezer in the fridge we had to buy ice everyday, and it should have a ceiling fan or a floor fan when it's hot, there was no air circulating, even with al the windows open, overall I would highly recommend this flat to stay in, I know we will rent it sgain.

Cozy in a great neighborhood is an apt description (3.5 Stars)

  • 3 of 5

The flat is small, but bigger than a hotel room (especially if you are sharing). If you are traveling with a child, don't be nice and give her/him the bedroom; that is for adults! Pros and cons:

- GREAT location! 5-minute walk to Angel Station for Underground and steps from buses. The neighborhood is awesome and has great shopping, dining, etc.

- Bathroom, although small, has a full-size tub great for a long soak.

- Bedroom is comfortable

- Well-equipped for basic cooking (So many VRBO rentals are not)

- Eti (owner) is communicative and on top of things; we appreciated her correspondence and tips.

- Loud in the front room. The flat is on a major street, and noise ends late and starts early. Buy ear plugs for a good sleep.

- Refrigerator does not have a freezer. The pub across the way will let you have ice for your in-room cocktails.

- Could use more towels (a very minor nit, I know)

- Fold out bed is fine for a child, but just large enough for a large adult. This didn't affect us but is something to be aware of.

Owner's Response: Thanks so much for this clear and descriptive review. As you've said the flat is comfortable and well equipped for cooking, good bathroom with a tub which is a great added bonus with so many apartments only offering a shower and the bedroom is comfortable. The location is great, as you've said, Islington is indeed a great neighbourhood. I'm a little surprised that with all those positives, the rating is only three stars? Such a shame, as this gives potential visitors the impression that there are serious problems when in fact it is a great little flat and we do our utmost to make it great for our guests.

Convenient but noisy flat

  • 3 of 5

The flat is in a great location, and if you stay in the back bedroom it's quiet, but my niece slept on the sofa bed in the front room and was kept awake much of the night due to, as she put it, "drunks and sirens". Also, while the flat had everything that's absolutely necessary, it would have been nice to have everyday items such as sugar in the kitchen, a few basic, inexpensive toiletries in the bathroom, and a clock somewhere.

lovely apartment for two

  • 3 of 5

The apartment is lovely, clean and well equipped, and Eti was available and very welcoming.

Perfect for one person or a couple - less suitable for 3 or 4, as the sofa bed is not comfortable, and there is quite a lot of light and noise from the street in the morning.

Good location - fun neighborhood and tons of good food around.

10 minutes walk from the nearest underground station (Angel).

Elders found the narrow stairs to the apartment challenging.

Recommended for up to two people in good shape.

Owner's Response: Thanks so much for your review of the apartment. It's such a shame you found the sofa bed uncomfortable. We have put a lot of effort into choosing an excellent quality and expensive sofa bed to ensure any extra guests have a comfortable night sleep, so I'm not sure what the problem was. Possibly it was an elderly person sleeping on it, it's difficult for me to work out as you never raised any of this while staying as my guest. I also want to comment on the stairs to the flat, which are just two very normal and easy flights of stairs, 18 stairs in all, in a nicely renovated entry hall. I wouldn't want anyone to get the wrong impression that the stairs are in any way challenging. The front room faces on to Essex Road, it is a standard street in London with shops and cafes which is vibrant and lively. There are Venetian blinds on the windows to shut out the light and yes, the street, being a normal London street is sometimes busy. I'm so sorry this has been a problem for early mornings. Again, thanks for reviewing the apartment and making it clear that it's great for two people. I think it is also great for more than two people but you might be right that the sofa bed and the front room would not be ideal for older people to sleep in. It's possibly a shame that you did not offer to swap with the older person and let them sleep in the bedroom instead of on the sofa bed.

Well located, very good service

  • 4 of 5

We stayed at the property for 4 days with our children in April 2016.

It is very well located with a bus stop to center London right in front of the door. And Angel tube station 5 min away with quick access to King's Cross. The close surroundings are very animated with lots of amenities, including a Tesco supermarket. Perfect logistic wise.

Recent, well furnished kitchen. Good heating system.

On the downside, the apartment is not very recent and one should not look at all the little things that obviously wear out. That being said, Eti and her husband were very fast at organising the repairs that we mentioned to them.

The sofa bed being located on the street side of the apartment, better have "heavy" sleepers there, not afraid of noise from the street below.

All in all, that holiday rent is good value for money according to British and London standards. It will suit anyone seeking to dive into lively London atmosphere, with fast acess to the hyper center.

In addition, the landlord clearly cares about her customers and that is important to mention these days as it becomes rare.
