Perfect Luxury Holiday Retreat

  • 5 of 5

Banner Elk is an enchanting luxury cabin nestled in a pretty glenn next to a babbling creek, hidden away in its own woodland mountain paradise. The location is stunning, set amongst the bird-filled mature woodland trees and rapid flowing waters of the creek, also teaming with life such as trout and crawfish. There is a grassy garden perfect for playing games and is also home a pretty apple orchard. Surrounded by wildlife, we saw many birds, deer, crawfish, squirrels and chipmonks all on our doorstep. You get the sense of remote peace and seclusion despite being easy to get to and within a half hour drive of Boone, where all amenities and gift shopping can be found.

The cabin itself is stunning, very much a luxury retreat with all the amenities for a pampered holiday. The main living space is defined by a magnificent open glass pitched window, the full length and height of the cabin, bringing the light and beauty into the room. The open plan kitchen with breakfast bar is perfect for cooking whilst entertaining. All the rooms are comfy and clean with everything needed to relax and unwind. Our favourite place is the wrap around balcony space, complete with porch swing, grill, benches, hammock and hot tub. We spent hours out here enjoying the closeness to nature in the comfort of the grand rocking chairs. On clear evenings, the fire pit is the place to watch the stars over a glass of wine whilst toasting smores.

Overall an amazing, perfect luxury holiday retreat comfortably nestled in one of natures most majestically beautiful locations. We will be back!

What a great property

  • 4 of 5

We had a great time. The house was very nice but I would say you need to tell people that there are actually 2 bedrooms and a LOFT. I looked specifically at homes with 3 bedrooms since we were 3 couples going together. It really sucked that the upstairs was NOT a bedroom but a LOFT so no walls or door to separate them from the rest of the house. It was slightly uncomfortable. Another thing was.... we were told that paper towels would be provided. We only had about 10 paper towels left on the roll in the kitchen. Had we known we would have stopped at the store for those supplies. We had a little trouble with the directions to the cabin since we came in from Banner Elk.....can anybody really do reverse directions??....apparently not us. But I do think if we came in from Boone it would have been easier.

On the pro side, the views are spectacular. The utensils and dishes were plentiful with the exception of wine glasses but you can certainly drink your wine from a mug or other glass. Pat (I think) called us to invite us to the community center for a dinner they were having there our first night which was very nice. There are plenty of games (indoor and outdoor) to use and lots of magazines and movies available. The fire pit is AWESOME and so was the fireplace inside. We did find a few trails to hike on but got stuck inside because of the rain and could not use them to their fullest. (next time)

I do think we would recommend this place to others (mostly families) due to the loft and that fact that its really only 2 bedrooms (so couples beware if there are 3 of you).

Home Away From Home!

  • 5 of 5

Dear Steve,

I want to Thank You for opening your rental property up to others! It was much more than we were expecting. We definitely didn't plan enough time at the rental property. We will definitely plan to return! The cabin was just like being at home!

* every room very clean, well maintained and decorative

* every bedroom had plenty of sheets, pillows, and covers

* every bathroom had plenty of towels, washcloths, hand towels and hand soap

* the laundry room was spacious

* the kitchen had everything you could think of to cook with and to store leftovers in (bowls with lids) and plenty of silverware

* living room was cozy large tv

* large dinning table with comfy chairs

* game table with chess or checkers

* nice stream outback that was great to hear the water, girls fished and caught crawfish, climbed the rocks and made rock stacks (they had a blast)

* great covered porch with swing that was nice and relaxing, chairs to sit in, plenty of outdoor games

* porch goes around the rest not covered with relaxing hammock, picknick table and hot tub and a grill

* had a fire pit (we really wanted to use last night but it rained)

The cabin had so much to do! We had planned day trips before we had got there so we use as much at the cabin as we could. We did have dinner there each night but to late to grill on the grill. So much to do around there also!

* we went to GrandFather Mountain State Park (ran the hill Forrest Gump ran in the movie)

* traveled on Blue Ridge Parkway Linn Cove Viaduct and Linville Falls (hike to falls and climbed on rocks and stacking rocks) and Blowing Rock

* went fishing at Linville Trout Farm caught 8 fish they cleaned them came back to cabin cooked them for dinner

* traveled Blue Ridge Parkway to Craggy Gardens (hiked, climbed, etc), Mount Mitchell (hiked to highest point east of Mississippi River and Graveyard Falls (hiked, etc) and Looking Glass Rock

* went to Chimney Rock Park (climbed a lot of stairs)

* we saw a bear one day, deer, rabbit and groundhog everyday

* we also made trips to Harley Davidson Bike Shops around the areas we traveled each day

Even though we didn't eat out there were plenty of places to eat out. We did stop at McDonalds to get our Vanilla Ice Coffee everyday and was glad to see a Publix (grocery store). Housekeeper was very nice. You will enjoy your stay as much as we did!

Thank you so much,

Mark and Page Oestreich

3rd times a charm!

  • 5 of 5

Third year in a row staying at this property and it's a no brained for us! If you are looking for a well stocked place to spend a wonderful week, look no further! We came later this year and enjoyed seeing everything so green.

Things we love about this cabin:

*ease of renting...prompt response and love the addition of PayPal as an option

*fluffy towels! I don't know where you get them or what you wash them in but they are wonderfully soft and in abundance

*well stocked! We want for nothing while we are here. Tons of outdoor games, plenty of chairs, and a great fire pit. Also every plate, pan, bowl or utensils you could need

*the hot tub and garden tub are our favorite places

*our beagles favorite place is the many places to explore and be a dog!

*and finally the sounds of the stream. Nothing gets better than falling asleep to the sounds of it!

So thank you for sharing your beautiful home!

beautiful piece of heaven on earth

  • 5 of 5

We loved everything about this cabin! The rooms are large and beds are comfortable. The kitchen is so much bigger than it looks. The covered porch area was comfortable and seating plentiful. My favorite spot was the swing, enjoying the sound of the rushing creek! The owner provides tons of towels and linens and the laundry is so convenient. I have stayed in many rentals and this was, by far, the most well-equipped home we have rented. Can't wait to come back!!!

Owner's Response: Thanks for taking the time to share! That swing was one of the best decisions made when we were choosing outdoor furniture. It's everyone's favorite! I'm happy our home met all your needs, and hope, maybe, you'll get to experience our great summers on the creek next time! Thanks Again, Cathy

An awesome New Years Weekend!

  • 5 of 5

We had a very enjoyable stay! Our only regret was not being able to stay longer! The pictures really don't do this cabin the justice it deserves! The amenities and features of the rental were top notch. Everyone in our group loved it. Though we spent most of our time inside, we did enjoy spending time walking by the creek one afternoon. The secluded location made for a perfect quiet New Years weekend away from the hustle of our daily lives. Thanks for the awesome get away. We look forward to returning one day!

Owner's Response: We sincerely appreciate your most complimentary words. Our family has celebrated many New Years here, and I agree, it makes for the best! We really love sharing our home, especially to folks that enjoy it the way we do. Please come back when you can enjoy the creek and walking trails. Thanks Again! Cathy & Family
