We spent our first two weeks at Blachford Hall in Ivybridge, and it was perfect! The home is furnished with everything imaginable, and living in the midst of the village is ideal. Lovely community with very friendly people and shops. Easy day trips to Devon and Cornwall. We give it our highest recommendation!

Cosy, well equipped, perfect location

  • 5 of 5

We had a really lovely few days at Blatchford Hall.

- The manager was fantastic, really informative information before we arrived, thorough explanations in the hall of how everything worked and very friendly.

- The hall is really cosy, the old features are beautiful and the kitchen and bathrooms are really modern and very well equipped.

- It is in a great location - we did two walks direct from Ivybridge without having to drive, really easy access onto the moor. And also visited a nearby National Trust property which was beautiful and an easy drive away.

- Lots of food shops in Ivybridge, including supermarkets open quite late so self catering was easy.

We really enjoyed it and we're just sad to only be there for 3 days - we certainly hope to return.

Owner's Response: We're so pleased you enjoyed your stay at Blachford Hall. It's great that you managed to get up on to the Moor- this time of year is beautiful up there, you'll just need to make sure you stay longer next time!

Blachford Hall is situated in the original part of Ivybridge, just metres away from the 13th Century ivy covered bridge from where the town gains it's name. Recently redecorated and newly available as a holiday let, this property is brimming with extensive period features and character, including stone walls, original timber beams, doors, stained glass windows and a welcoming wood burner. Amongst the period features you will still benefit from all the modern requirements necessary for a self catering break, such as the wifi connection, the wet room and a fully fitted kitchen with all appliances. A stunning reception room with high ceilings exposing the original beams of the former chapel, and a mezzanine floor, mean that everyone has room to relax. There are two bedrooms sleeping 4 in comfort, and a travel cot can be provided upon request. Light-filled, full of charm and very welcoming, this house really is a must for those looking for something special nestled on the Southern reaches of Dartmoor, whilst only a short drive from the beaches of the South Hams and the towns of Dartmouth & Salcombe. The town's enviable position means it's the Gateway to both the Moors and the beautiful South Hams countryside. Locally you can ride the now iconic tour of Britain location, Haytor. You can visit Dartmoor Zoo, the zoo which was the focus of Hollywood recently. You can learn to surf at Bigbury, or sail in Plymouth, Dartmoor or Salcombe. You can ride horses on Dartmoor, you can wild swim on Dartmoor, you can walk to Western Beacon direct from the hall. If you like the Moors and the Sea, then this is the property for you.
