Stunning mountain and mesa views that to this day never cease to amaze me. Quiet, natural setting that adjacent to the Cibola National Forest which protects Two Ponyz Ranch from over development.
Was able to build from the ground-up building that reduced the carbon footprint through on-demand heating, radiant-heated floors, and grid-tie solar electric.
My husband and I had a wonderful time! This casita is in such a beautiful, peaceful area. The drive in off the highway was fun, and allowed us to see a small herd of pronghorn and fawns. Once at the casita we were greeted by Karen, who showed us around and made us feel right at home. The place is decorated very native to the area, and we loved it! Karen has not left anything out when it comes to amenities. We were pleasantly surprised by how well the kitchen and bathroom were stocked with necessities, and even some non essential extras. We enjoyed relaxing on both porches, depending on the time of day, and loved watching the horses, jack rabbits, hummingbirds, and even a coyote. The nighttime star gazing was amazing, and we made sure to enjoy it each night. Our only regret is that we didn't have time to enjoy a longer stay! Thank you, Karen. We will be back!
I have stayed at Two Ponyz a number of times over the years and it feels like I'm coming home every time I arrive. Karen, the owner, is the consumer inn keeper. The casita is immaculate. Her eye for detail leaves nothing to chance. If you are looking for value, look no further. Two Ponyz has it all.
This was the second year that my wife and I have spent a weekend at 2Ponyz. We spent our time reading, cooking, eating, listening to music, sleeping, napping, lounging, watching the weather change... This is an ideal place to rest, relax, and re-create. I spent most of my time stratigically positioned on the patio to take hundreds of photos of the birds. Last year we counted around a dozen species, this year a little less - yes some of those birds were photographed at least a hundred times... The interior is exquisite and extremely comfortable. I enjoy cooking so I loved the kitchen. The hospitality is very welcoming. The road from the hiway might be intimidating for city folk, but relax, you really can't go wrong. If its the first time you had to open and drive through a gate, you really shouldn't have waited this long. And it just might give you the reason you've been searching for to buy that 4 wheel drive. We're going back...oh yeah!
French author Jules Renard once said "On Earth there is no heaven, but there are pieces of it.". We found one of those pieces at Two Ponyz Ranch!
My wife and I spent three nights there while house hunting in the area. So it was more of a business trip vs. pleasure, but oh what a pleasurable experience. The design and comfort of the casita is second to none and the amenities... outstanding!
And our host Karen...warm, charming, full of life, down to Earth, and helpful are but a few phrases which come to mind. Her heart and soul are in Two Ponyz and it shows in every detail.
I highly recommend spending a few nights at the ranch as it will give you a whole new perspective of things. Well done Karen! We look forward to seeing you again.
Remote but convenient from Albuquerque, my wife and I travel to New Mexico and stay at 2ponyz several times a year. The property is exquisitely located in the historic Abo Canyon at the south end of the Manzano Mountains and is incredibly peaceful. The view from the property of the Chupadera Mesa to the south and the Manzano Mtns to the north are beautiful. And the casita is amazing, welcoming and comfortable in all manner. We generally bring all the food we need for our stay and prepare it in the best appointed kitchen of any lodging place we've stayed. The kitchen, dining and very comfortable living space have a sublime view of the Manzano Mountains and the kiva fireplace is a delightful amenity. We always sleep very comfortably in the well presented bedroom. The casita is always clean and well maintained. 2Ponyz is close to both natural and historic sites. We enjoy the nearby Salinas Pueblos National Monument (there are actually 3 units separated by 10-20 miles, but you can walk to the Abo unit from 2Ponyz). We often hike in the Manzano's and Sevilleta National Wildlife Refuge and visit the Bernardo Waterfowl Management area near Sevilleta. A bit further drive is the Bosque del Apache NWR, home of the popular Festival of Cranes and the Very Large Array radio telescope - suffice it to say, I could go on describing areas of interest. Although there's plenty to do nearby, spending a quiet, relaxing day at the ranch is one of life's pleasures and we look forward to our next visit! I enthusiastically recommend 2Ponyz to anyone traveling in the region.
Karen was a wonderful host and facilitated an amazing getaway for us and our dog, Winston. The ranch is beautiful and perfectly situated to provide gorgeous scenery and myriad hiking trails. We loved taking long hikes during the day to see the ruins and look out over the land. Karen was very helpful in giving us a thorough review of things to see and do in the open-space and in Mountainair. She was always present and kind when we called with questions, but gave us the privacy we sought for our weekend away! What set our stay further apart was the casita itself, which was well-equipped and beautifully decorated. We spent any time not outside cooking in the kitchen (I only wish my kitchen were so nice with such a view!). A truly great place with a gracious host. The perfect getaway for us, and one we knew immediately we would return to again. Thank you again!
