Description

Photos and Description of this 2 bedroom holiday apartment in Santa Maria - Apartment with splendid view

Apartment 4 people

The apartment is part of a private villa in Santa Maria di Castellabate, about one km from the seaside, with a panoramic view of the surrounding area and bordered by the Italian National Park of Cilento. The apartment is newly built (opening year 2005), tastefully furnished and have a large and private terrace/garden overlooking the sea, complete with umbrella, table, and lounge chairs. The apartment includes air conditioning, satellite TV, shared laundry room and are located in a private villa with automatic gate and parking. You can also enjoy free Internet access (for computers with wireless capabilities) and a large common swimming pool (16*7 meters, some 120 stair steps from the villa) open from May 23rd to September 25th. Let me add just one last thing: we live in a villa next to the apartment so any problem you may experience, you will be just a few paces to its solution! Thanks for considering us.

The Cilento National Park: The Cilento National Park has been recognised by the UNESCO since 1998 as part of the World Heritage with the following justification: “The Cilento is an outstanding cultural landscape. The dramatic groups of sanctuaries and settlements along its three east–west mountain ridges vividly portray the area's historical evolution: it was a major route not only for trade, but also for cultural and political interaction during the prehistoric and medieval periods. The Cilento was also the boundary between the Greek colonies of Magna Graecia and the indigenous Etruscan and Lucanian peoples. The remains of two major cities from classical times, Paestum and Velia, are found there (…) as well as the impressive monastic property of the Certosa di San Lorenzo in Padula”.

Castellabate sea: In Castellabate you will also enjoy a high quality sea that is internationally awarded, with a wonderful fragmented coasts as well as beautiful fine sand beaches with shallow waters ideal for kids. In 2004 Castellabate has been awarded once again the Blue Flag. The Blue Flag is an exclusive eco-label based on strict criteria dealing with water quality, environmental education and information, environmental management, and safety and other services.

What to see...: Finally you have to know that in a one day trip from Castellabate you can enjoy well known places as Positano and the Amalfi Coast, Paestum, Naples, Pompeii, Capri or Sorrento.

My partner and I could not have enjoyed our week here more, it was perfect. We watched the sunset nearly every evening from our terrace with a glass of wine, and it really is a beautiful sight.

The apartments are fine and satisfying all needs, and the views are sensational. Each apartment has a terrace/balcony with panoramic views over the village and coastline of Santa Maria di Castellabate. It is very peaceful as it is up in the hills. The grounds are simply stunning, with a large swimming pool surrounded by a huge gorgeous rustic garden with plenty of sun loungers.

The village centre and sea is a 15 minute walk down the hill. Please note, there are a some steps to walk down and the walk back is mostly uphill, so bear this in mind if you have any walking difficulties and are without a car. We enjoyed the light walk, which helped burn off all the delicious pizza, pasta and gelato we consumed! If you have a car, it can be kept safely within the gated residence. The owners are also very kind and happy to help in any way possible!

This really is a gem - I cannot recommend it enough and we hope to return!

A Hidden Gem

  • 5 of 5

We have stayed at this apartment twice now and have thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. The property owners are incredibly helpful and you have a wonderful sense that they are near at hand if you need them BUT you always have absolute privacy. The apartments are well appointed with all the facilities you need. Parking is OK if a little tight for space but this is an Italian hillside after all ! The pool and adjacent gardens are fantastic and a perfect way to spend your summer days. However, the real 'ace' are the huge apartment terraces which let you see down to the coast and, when the haze lifts, to the Sorrentine Peninsula and Capri. The town of Santa Maria can seem rather quiet at first then you realise that it's you who is going too fast. Slow down to the local pace and enjoy; the people are uniformly friendly and you will not be overrun with other tourists. Head south to Palinuro for a good day out but then the whole coast south is classic Italy......and all without other tourists !
