About the property

Apartment with splendid view

The apartment is part of a private villa in Santa Maria di Castellabate, about one km from the seaside, with a panoramic view of the surrounding area and bordered by the Italian National Park of Cilento. The apartment is newly built (opening year 2005), tastefully furnished and have a large and private terrace/garden overlooking the sea, complete with umbrella, table, and lounge chairs. The apartment includes air conditioning, satellite TV, shared laundry room and are located in a private villa with automatic gate and parking. You can also enjoy free Internet access (for computers with wireless capabilities) and a large common swimming pool (16*7 meters, some 120 stair steps from the villa) open from May 23rd to September 25th. Let me add just one last thing: we live in a villa next to the apartment so any problem you may experience, you will be just a few paces to its solution! Thanks for considering us.

The Cilento National Park: The Cilento National Park has been recognised by the UNESCO since 1998 as part of the World Heritage with the following justification: “The Cilento is an outstanding cultural landscape. The dramatic groups of sanctuaries and settlements along its three east–west mountain ridges vividly portray the area's historical evolution: it was a major route not only for trade, but also for cultural and political interaction during the prehistoric and medieval periods. The Cilento was also the boundary between the Greek colonies of Magna Graecia and the indigenous Etruscan and Lucanian peoples. The remains of two major cities from classical times, Paestum and Velia, are found there (…) as well as the impressive monastic property of the Certosa di San Lorenzo in Padula”.

Castellabate sea: In Castellabate you will also enjoy a high quality sea that is internationally awarded, with a wonderful fragmented coasts as well as beautiful fine sand beaches with shallow waters ideal for kids. In 2004 Castellabate has been awarded once again the Blue Flag. The Blue Flag is an exclusive eco-label based on strict criteria dealing with water quality, environmental education and information, environmental management, and safety and other services.

What to see...: Finally you have to know that in a one day trip from Castellabate you can enjoy well known places as Positano and the Amalfi Coast, Paestum, Naples, Pompeii, Capri or Sorrento.

Most enjoyable and relaxing holiday!

  • 5 of 5

The magnificent view across the bay with the sun dropping behind Capri is the perfect backdrop for an evening on the terrace at the villa. Our apartment was well equipped, clean and comfortable and provided an excellent base from which to explore the nearby coast or take a day trip to Pompeii and Amalfi.

The pool is set in a beautiful garden and provided a peaceful place to swim and relax after a day out.

All together a most enjoyable and relaxing holiday, I would definitively recommend it!

Parco Bouganvillea

I think the description was misleading in that it omitted to say that there were other apartment blocks on the owner's property,so pool got crowded at times but they didn't intrude otherwise.

We'd imagined being just one of the few in the picture and description. We were No.21, which gives you some idea.

"about 100 steps" to pool meant vertically - and there were 120!

Sound-proofing non-existent. We could hear EVERYTHING in adjacent apartments.

Property spotless. Owner helpful and friendly. Maintenance staff etc. discreet.

No hot water one day but problem solved as soon as possible. Broken (by us) chair replaced next day.

Out-of-date brochures and leaflets left by other visitors the only information on site.

A brief guide to local amenities, markets, supermarkets, restaurants etc. would have been helpful.

The garden was a beautiful place to find shade and peace. The pool was warm and especially wonderful at night.

View from apartment terrace stunning any time of day or night.

Our 1-bedroom apartment slightly hemmed-in between two others, the terrace separated only by wooden partitions with a bit of cane screening and never really private.

We did coast road south and went into the hills - both beautiful.

To Vesuvius(challenging but manageable for 2 unfit 60+s) one day when the road works and rush-hour traffic were so horrendous we realised we'd never make our early-morning flight home the next weekend. So booked into Naples hotel and 'did' Herculaneum (amazing) late afternoon when car park was virtually empty.

The Cilento National Park is just a few miles from the usual tourist routes, a place where nature mixes with art and culture in order to offer you wonderful cultural sites, high quality sea and beautiful landscapes. The Cilento National Park has been recognised by the UNESCO since 1998 as part of the World Heritage and described as“an outstanding cultural landscape'. In Castellabate you will also enjoy a high quality sea that is internationally awarded, with a wonderful fragmented coasts as well as beautiful fine sand beaches and shallow waters ideal for kids.
