Bedrooms 1
Space 250 sq ft
Property type estate
Minimum Stay 2 nights

About the property

Unique troglodyte experience. 1 bedroom, 1 bathroom, (Sleeps 2-3).

A once in a lifetime troglodyte experience.

'The Paquerie' is an exclusive and renovated 19 century vineyard style country house 4 km from Amboise situated in a 2 acre wooded park with a panoramic view of the Loire Valley. Therese and Brian (Retired Airline Pilot) propose to accommodate you in a beautifully renovated independent room built into the limestone cliff in their courtyard.

Breakfast is included and is taken in the dining room INSIDE THE HOUSE. The house presents you with a subtle mixture of antique European and Asian furniture, Asian artifacts and modern paintings and photos - all reflecting the extensive travels of Brian and Therese.

For those who love calm and elegance this will be a delightful, peaceful experience that emphasizes nature and quality of life. Your private terrace enables you to relax in complete privacy. Your welcome is assured all year round, as this cave-bedroom remains cool in the heat of summer and snug with central heating in winter. Air circulation is provided by a continuously controlled system designed to permanently renew interior air.

This accommodation is designed for two people.

Amboise is famous for its royal chateau and the 'Clos Luce', the home of Leonardo de Vinci. We are a short drive from all the renowned chateaux of the Loire Valley and you can visit local markets, charming villages or participate in wine tasting.

PILOTS. The Loire Valley is an ideal stopover for visiting foreign pilots. Land at Amboise/Dierre (LFEF) and Brian, an experienced pilot, will ensure that all your tourist and aviation needs are satisfied.

The Loire Valley is well known for its numerous chateaux, quality wines and delicious food and also for its caves; that is, its 'troglodyte' history. Excavation for the stone ('tuffeau') for the construction of chateaux resulted in numerous caves some of which are still used for habitation.

There are no cooking facilities in your room; However, tea/coffee making facilities are provided.

Access by car from Paris via the A10 auto route, by high-speed train (TGV) from Paris or Charles de Gaulle Airport or by air (RyanAir) is without difficulty. English is spoken.

Renting a car is necessary so as to have access to Amboise (4 km) and also to visit the numerous tourist features of the Loire Valley. Convenient car rental is available at the TGV station in Tours (St Pierre des Corps). Our GPS coordinates are N47 26' 57.2' and E001 00' 52.5'.

Preferred guest arrival time is 5PM or later. However, an earlier arrival is certainly possible. An email or courtesy phone call to Therese +33 (0)2 4730 1041 is all that is required.

Guests comments are the confirming proof of our quality. Unsolicited comments can be found on this site and also - Europe Amboise Paquerie.

Wonderful vacation spot...

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful time at The Morgan home. Therese was a wonderful host. She made reservations for dinner for us at some fantastic restaurants. This is the perfect place to stay. It was very cool staying in a cave. We are sorry to have missed Brian during our stay. Thank you Therese for everything!!

Great B&B in the Loire Valley

My wife and I spent 4 nights and loved our time here. Brian and Teresa are fantastic hosts, made excellent dinner recommendations and helped with everything they could. The cave bedroom was wonderful and had everything we could need. Highly recommended.

Perfect Charming Location in the Loire Valley near Amboise

  • 5 of 5

This was one of the highlights of our whirlwind trip in France after business in Paris. Le Paquerie sits on a terraced hill overlooking Therese's beautiful gardens and fields below. My husband and I had never stayed in a cave before and it was a wonderful experience. I slept like a baby (which is saying something considering I was fighting an awful cold). We are both tall and there is ample space and tall ceilings in the cave. The rooms are beautifully appointed with a wonderful mix of furniture and items from Therese and Brian's time living in various locations abroad. Brian's photography and Therese' artwork is featured in the cave and in their country home, where we enjoyed our breakfast. One real treat and surprise was the huge shower in the cave.

Therese was extremely helpful with restaurant suggestions and reservations. We enjoyed fabulous meals where the locals eat. Being located in a quiet country setting was perfect for us -restful and away from the hustle and bustle of Amboise (especially on a holiday weekend); it was a close enough drive. Therese also provided other suggestions of site to see on our too short trip and her recommendations were spot on. We were sorry not to meet Brian directly as he was in Australia during our stay, but we did get to meet via face time which was nice. We most definitely would stay with Therese and Brian again and hope to in the future for a more extended stay. This is a perfect place to stay and I would highly recommend this property!

This is rated 10 stars!

  • 5 of 5

We are not new to these type of properties and have to say this is on the top of our list. The accommodations, in a cave no less, were very well appointed, perfectly clean and quiet and cozy. Therese and Brian thought of everything, from slippers and robes to a full coffee set-up. Breakfast was wonderful with fresh fruit and warm croissant each morning. But the topper was Therese and Brian who could not have been more helpful, thoughtful or nicer. We encourage you to book this special place.

Wonderful stay in the Loire Valley!

  • 5 of 5

Brain and Therese were so welcoming and had great advice for our daily castle adventures! We arrived and Brian helped us get settled in and showed us around the beautiful troglodyte room that we got to stay in. Everything was so nice and comfortable. Therese provided us with a menu for breakfast the next day. We enjoyed getting to visit and eat the delicious breakfast Therese made. Brain showed us around their property and told us all the great places to go in the area. We highly suggest you stay here if you are looking for a peaceful, beautiful, and picturesque place to stay. Brain and Therese were great company and we truly had a wonderful stay.
