About this property

1929 Farmhouse near Downtown Durham and Duke

This is a neat old 1929 farmhouse that was definitely here first, in a neighborhood that's grown up around it. While the house has no noise restrictions whatsoever and is quite private with an old farmhouse feel and extremely large fenced back yard, it does sit on a main thoroughfare with a bus stop directly in front of the house - so privacy but with easy access - it's a 10 minute straight shot to downtown Durham, drive or uber and *very* convenient to Duke Hospital and University.

I think it's neat, and definitely worth note, that you'll have both a City Mouse *and* Country Mouse kind of experience staying here:).

Unpleasant, not worth the price.
We needed a place to stay while waiting to close on our new home; most of the first two weeks at the property were without heat. The owner had repair services come to address the issue, but service had to be called back twice, as the heat failed two more times. We understood that problems such as this can & do arise, but felt strongly that we were owed some compensation/refund for the lack of heat. Unfortunately, the owner did not agree, and pretty much flatly refused to negotiate a solution - very disappointing. Additionally, the overall cleanliness of the house was disappointing, as evidenced by a significant number of roaches. Overall, a disappointing, and in light of the above, extremely overpriced experience.

Great Stay
This property is very clean and has many cool touches. We enjoyed browsing through the record and book collection they have in the house. The owner was very communicative and answered all my questions quickly.

4 bedroom house on Guess.
An older house, but nice comfortable furniture. Lots of space. Everything worked well.

Hey guys, great to "meet" you! Welcome to North Carolina! I moved here from Virginia for university as well as the area's family-friendliness *a lot* (how many is my secret, hehe;) of years ago, and stayed for it's thriving music and arts scene which I support and participate in many ways, primarily as an effects pedal builder. I love that sharing my dear farmhouse with travelers contributes to the area's 'local' flair of being so inclusive and welcoming to visitors, as it certainly is. Always on-the-go Carmen SanDiego style for both work and just for kicks sometimes too, short-term rental hosting since 2013 is a great fit with my lifestyle - and mutually beneficial to us both! Currently I'm calling Germany 'home' these days so that's likely where i'll be personally during your stay, but no worries though - even if elsewhere i'm always reachable and local in-person support is available :).

Regardless which of the variety of reasons folks find themselves in town is yours... My house welcomes you to call it home during your stay. Cheers ~
