3 Bedrooms + Loft + Den - 2.5+ Baths - (Sleeps 8-10)
We live in Atlanta and found this property, I designed the house with our builder and it was ready to move in 2005. We are a busy family of four and love going up to our house to get away from the 4MM people in Atlanta.
Chris purchased this Lodge in 2005
Why Chris chose Topton
I designed the house for rental and vacation, my wife decorated for our 2nd house and retirement location. You will see that she never really wanted to rent it, and put a lot of time in the decor in the house. The view is AMAZING and I can promise you that it will be 'even better than the pictures' We love the pace and the rustic feel of the area. The walk to the the boat area is close given the steep mountain lake terrain, but you are truly in the woods when you are at our house.

Beautiful view of the lake!!!
Everything was great!! Fantastic view from deck and easy convenience to the private dock for renting a boat and swimming. Very nice vacation home and loved having the hot tub!!
Beautiful mountain home
We had a wonderful time here. The scenery is beautiful. Cell phone coverage is not good... which is also wonderful. Very well appointed. Would love to stay here again.

Awesome view of the lake and surrounding mountains.
We enjoyed the home very much. We love, love, loved the decor. The home was just beautiful. Everything was there to make our stay enjoyable. We especially loved being out on the deck enjoying the view coupled with the cool weather while also enjoying the hot tub with a cold drink in hand. Our kids spent the evenings playing board games at the picnic table on the deck(no way, right) That was refreshing to see and with no biting bugs like we are used to in Florida being outdoors was great. We enjoyed the lake and rented a deck boat for the week. It was nice to have a private slip to tie up and then take a short walk to the house for lunch. The kitchen had everything one would need to make family meals(the outdoor grill was sweet too). We loved the large dining table and the moose dishes were especially cool. All the bedrooms were comfortable and well appointed . We took a few trips to the Nantahala Outdoor Center to enjoy a whitewater rafting trip and zip lining. We highly recommend the rafting trip. We did it unguided and having experienced a couple of other Smokey Mountain rafting trips the Nantahala was just right. Plenty of action but not too much. We unfortunately had a couple of days of rain but otherwise we had a wonderful vacation and staying at the Lost Moose Lodge was the best part. I can’t think how it could have been better. We will definitely make this trip again.
Beautiful lake views
We had a nice stay for a week. Gorgeous views and comfortable beds. Needs more outside seating and rockers to enjoy view. Internet super slow, but family was there for disconnect so didn't bother me. Kitchen well stocked. Driveway was a tough ascent if you don't have 4 wheel drive. Overall, we had a great stay!
Beautiful home near a beautiful lake...bring your walking shoes!
Lake Nantahala is a beautiful body of water deep in the mountains of NC and the house is perched high up on a hillside where there are fabulous views of the lake and long distance mountain ranges. Overall we had a lovely time relaxing in the rustic cabin with an upscale feel. The home was more than enough space for our family of four, and could easily fit two families or a large family with many children. The hot tub was well maintained and clean. A walk down the (very) steep driveway, across a road, and down another fairly steep path, leads you to the gated docks where you can access the water. We were a little disappointed at the distance to the lake, but perhaps should have read the description more closely. The docks are tucked into a cove, off the main water, and well maintained but don't expect a beach access or to walk into the water. Plenty of space for our kayaks and we never saw another family using the docks. The house is nicely decorated but needs some love---the rocking chair on the front porch was broken and the benches were not very stable. The towels and linens were a little tired but there were plenty to go around. We came at the end of a long rental summer, so perhaps that explains why the kitchen was missing a lot of vital tools--only one pan, no small or medium sized pots or cookie sheets, and we never found a sharp knife(as someone that cooks most meals as part of my vacation relaxation plan, this was a bummer!) There weren't any books, games or movies(there were some old VHS tapes but nothing to play them on), but again, may be related to our timing at the end of summer. Probably time to replace some appliances, the fridge had trouble keeping cool and the freezer never froze the ice cream. The grill worked but took a very long time to get warm despite being gas. We rented a boat from Lakes End Marina and had fun tubing and we ran the Nantahala more times that we can count. Overall a successful venture!
Lake View and boats slip for boating on beautiful Lake Nantahala, 100 yds from shore, White Water Rafting, hiking, fishing, horse riding, gem mining, smokey mountain railroad all nearby
Other Activities: White Water River Rafting, Tubing and kayaking
Golf: Many golf courses nearby, normally takes about 45 minutes to get to them.
Ski: Snow Skiing is about 1 1/2 hours away at Cattaloochee ski resort, it is a good day trip, we enjoyed it
