It was a very relaxing trip and your location is
AMAZING! My husband and I loved the snorkeling especially around the
bend to the north where the fallen rocks are. It was beautiful! Oh how
I wish it was lobster season when we were there! I could not believe
how many we saw in and around the rocks right in front of the house. We
were fortunate enough to follow an octopus for a while one day as well
as come across a spotted moray eel in some rocks right off the deck.
Not to mention the hundreds of groupers, angel fish, etc...it was some
of the best snorkeling we've done in the Bahamas!
Choosing a place to stay on VRBO can be a roll of the dice - but this was a complete winner! If you are going to Eleuthera to enjoy the stunning scenery, snorkeling or diving and swimming and getting away from city stress you will not be disappointed at 2 Sisters. The view is jaw dropping, and the snorkeling right in your backyard is excellent. The house is simple and comfortable, but you should be aware that the only way to get to the downstairs bedrooms from inside the house is via a ship's ladder. There is a metal spiral staircase a few steps outside on the front deck if you aren't comfortable with the ladder. The other thing to be aware of is the road to the house off Queen's Highway is rough, and it takes time to get to the house, but you will be richly rewarded once you get there! The house is clean, and the beds are comfortable, the AC works well. We barbecued twice - we had about everything we needed. There is a great new grocery store nearby that will supply you with anything (except alcohol) that you will need to enjoy your stay. Liquor shop is just down the road. You might consider bringing a collapsible cooler as some of the most spectacular beaches are a drive to get to and there are few amenities, so packing a lunch is a great idea. There are fancier, "see and be seen" spots on the Atlantic side, but if you want a real slice of unspoiled paradise and privacy I highly recommend you stay at 2 Sisters. Eleuthera is a long, skinny island and there are sights to see that take some time to get to, but your trip will be worth it! The beaches are incredible and the people are amazingly friendly and helpful. The island is not overdeveloped, thank God, and Hurricane Andrew set them back so the people are very anxious to make sure you enjoy your stay. The food was generally excellent from the fancy-ish restaurants to the take away conch salad roadside stand. We stayed away from the really ritzy spots - just not our cup of tea, and we have no complaints. If you are adventurous don't miss the Sapphire Blue Hole (near Preacher's Cave) it's a once in a lifetime leap. Most of the big beaches are a drive from the house, but well worth it. Don't miss French Leave Beach, and 10 Bay. If you have time and a car with lots of clearance (and a sense of adventure) try to find Deep Creek Beach. We didn't make it to Lighthouse Beach so we will have to come back! We had a fabulous time at this magical and very special place! Amazing!
What a fantastic place and the views out of this world! We came for 9 days with our two kids (aged 12 and 14) and loved every minute! We loved the cozy house with the bedrooms downstairs and the kitchen/living room upstairs - the views were spectacular and had lots of fun on the diving board! So enjoyed drinking tea in the mornings looking out on the turquoise water ..... it was so peaceful!!! We snorkelled in the cove every day seeing lots of sealife and just loved the privacy - we can't wait to return!
Eleuthera is a beautiful island with lots of great restaurants and wonderful scenery. So many beaches with not a single person on them so we would take a picnic and spend the day!
Can't wait to book another vacation! Thank you!
If you’re looking for nightlife, this isn’t the place for you. If you like having a lot of restaurants and touristy shops nearby, don’t come. But if you’re like us and want a true escape, 2 Sisters is ideal. On arrival, we almost turned around as we bounced down the rutted road to the house thinking we had made a wrong turn. But once you get there and see your private cove, it will all make sense. The house is cozy with everything you need. The full kitchen is fully stocked. We took the advice to bring as much food as we could with us including packaged side dishes, breakfast bars, nuts, etc. Mary said she will also bring frozen meats, but we didn’t try that because of our layover. Groceries are pretty expensive and the selection is sparse on the island. The house is also so remote that you won’t want to make a lot of runs to restaurants. We did eat out several times during the week and the food was fine. But my favorite days and nights were spent enjoying the cove, the private deck, the incredible sunsets and the nights under the stars. We bought fresh fish and lobster, which they call crawfish, from a fisherman that would set up during the week on the water in the nearest township of Governor’s Harbor. Get there right at 2:30 or he sells out. There’s also a small farmer's market a few miles from the house on the left heading into GH. They had some great homemade soups and dips and the vegetables were really fresh.
We did explore the island on several days. Mary has a book filled with good advice on places to go and see. We also met some locals and expats who told us about some great places as well. There aren’t a lot of road signs, and I never even tried to use GPS. Finding out-of-the-way places like Twin Cove Beach just added to the experience. I think we saw two other couples the whole afternoon we were there.
We rented an “island car” from Doyle, the housekeeper. It was actually an old SUV with scratches all down the sides. It ran fine and had good AC though. And after a few trips to some of the beaches, we were glad for the scratches. Some of the roads are so narrow that you can’t help but brush against the tree limbs.
We will definitely be back. Oh, and Mary has great taste in music. We had fun digging through all the old cds and playing them on the little tv in the living room.
I found the location to be ideal... I am an adventurous sort, and feel in the 5 days I was here, I was able to figure out what I wanted and where it was at. Spent many a day on the dock just watching the sunset. Great airy breeze thru the vila.... well set up and wonderfully stocked ..Thank you!
My only regret is that I did not try the diving board..... the best days available, calm water wamr temps, seems that the water in the cove wanted to have some foam, so I opted out....other than that.. would do it again
The cottage and the snorkeling in Little Bay are so wonderful it is hard to convince yourself to leave. You'll be glad you did though, because the deserted, sandy Atlantic beaches nearby offer all the tranquility and serenity you could desire.
The cottage features nice landscaping, a well appointed kitchen, and large windows to take advantage of the sea breeze and the spectacular view. The deck is the perfect place to take in a sunset or launch into the clear turquoise water for some snorkeling. Two nearby reefs in the often glass-calm bay offer the opportunity to see a multitude of fish and coral without having to contend with ocean waves.
We had a remarkable time at this lovely cottage and would recommend it to anyone seeking a serene vacation.
What a gorgeous home with the Caribbean ocean for your back yard! I was amazed by the abundant sea life to view daily. This is a snorkeling, fishing, paddling haven. We caught delicious fish everyday and enjoyed sunsets every night from the dock. A true paradise indeed.
Little Bay is located in central Eleuthera about midway between Governors Harbor and Tarpum Bay,. The area is famous for numerous beautiful deserted beaches and gin clear ocean water- a blue that defies description in words. Natural beauty abounds, though services such as restaurants, grocery stores, gas stations are close by and easily accessible. You will find the locals extremely helpful and friendly.
