Not Your Usual Ikea Furnished Rental, but a True (Dream) Home Away From Home...

Bedrooms 2
Space 904 sq. ft.
Property type apartment
Minimum Stay 5 nights

About the property

Apartment, 2 Bedrooms, 1 Bath, (Sleeps 3)

I've recently re-listed my personal residence in Aix, so don't miss out on the ultimate 'Aixois' experience by staying in this beautiful, fully equipped flat (not at all Ikea inspired!;-) right in the heart of old Aix....

My flat, located in the historic heart of Aix was recently remodeled with the finest quality materials and is furnished and outfitted as a personal residence rather than as a rental unit. It is, after all, my home in Aix and I love staying there. I'm sure you will too!

Its location on rue Chabrier, in the historic center of Aix en Provence, is seconds away from food, flower and antique markets, and makes it an ideal home away from home.

The two bedroom, loft like space, features custom hand made iron windows, Bisazza tile in the bath, an Arclinea kitchen, marble and Corian kitchen counters and colored concrete floors. The two bedrooms are independent, have doors and are completely private from the main living area.

The furnishings are an eclectic mix of interesting pieces and original artwork. I'm an interior designer by trade and amateur chef by preference.

The kitchen is outfitted for those who love to cook and entertain, with Kitchen Aid mixer, blender, food processor, gas cook top, huge oven, microwave, pretty much every cooking utensil, pot or pan you could think of and an American refrigerator with water and ice dispensers.

There are many sets of vintage plates, serving pieces and linens at your disposal along with all the usual modern varieties. Let your imagination go wild creating a beautiful table setting while your partner in crime is cooking up a wonderful dinner from products and produce purchased just outside the front door....or call for a reservation or takeout from one of the hundreds of local restaurants

The lovely terrace overlooks the historically classified rooftops of Aix and has a view of the clock tower of the Hotel de Ville and the spire of the cathedral, both of which are illuminated at night. It is furnished with a summer bed, table, chairs and gas BBQ

A perfect place to stay to explore the music, architecture, food and culture of Aix en Provence and surrounding areas!

Fourth floor, no elevator.

Please, one week minimum rental

About Lisa Amoroso

I'm Lisa, an interior designer, originally from San Francisco. I've been in love with France ever since I was able to spend 6 months in Paris at the age of 17. Have been coming back ever since. In 2004 I was lucky enough to make the big move and live here full time. Fortunately, everyone loves to visit Provence, so I often have friends and family visiting.

I also have a stone farm house with pool one hour away from Aix, in the Luberon/Vaucluse overlooking the medieval village and chateau of Lagnes.

As of January 2013, I am starting renovation on a small apartment in the Marais in Paris, just next to the Pompidou Center. So, if interested in other property rentals, please let me know.

Thanks for your interest in my listing

Why Lisa Amoroso chose Centre Ville

I just couldn't have found a better project for me and a better location in Aix. After all it really is all about 'location, location, location'

The property had been abandoned for several generations and after all the structural work and reinforcements were done, I had a blank canvas to work with...a dream for an interior designer

Fantastic location in the heart of Aix

  • 5 of 5

This flat has everything you need for a week, or more, in Provence.

The central location makes it easy to walk around Aix, the daily market is just a few steps away, making it easy to buy fresh fruit and vegetables every morning, and the rooftop terrace alone is worth the price. We ate breakfast out there every morning and loved watching the birds fly around every evening.

The kitchen has everything you need if you want to cook but there are plenty of restaurants nearby if you don't.

Lisa was easily accessible by phone and email to answer any questions and made sure we had a list of things we might enjoy around the area. All in all, if you love the idea of living in the heart of the city center, I highly recommend this flat!

Perfect Place to stay in Aix

  • 5 of 5

We loved staying at this property. The views from inside the apartment were even better than pictured... which was a nice surprise. The property is in the center of everything happening in historic Aix. The apartment is lovely, clean and very well maintained. The owner is extremely helpful and gracious. The rooftop terrace has incredible views in every direction. If you like to cook you will love to cook here. The daily food market is delightful and just around the corner. Restaurants of every type are just a quick walk away. Highly recommend!

Our second stay. There no better place to stay in the heart of Aix. Perfect location for old world charm. Better than a five star hotel. The amenities include a spacious flat beautifully decorated and a deck with an amazing view. The large gourmet kitchen is perfect for taking advantage of Aix's outstanding outdoor food markets just outside your door. Dealing with owner is a pleasure. She really cares about her renters. We cannot wait to return next year.

Oasis in Aix

  • 5 of 5

This gorgeous apartment was our oasis for a wonderful week in Aix this summer. First, on a darling, narrow street in the heart of the city center, its location could not possibly have been better. Everything we wanted to see, do, and eat (!!) was within easy walking distance from our front door. And from the fabulous, private roof deck (perfect for enjoying a glass of wine or a morning croissant), the rooftop views of the neighborhood were delightful. Second, the apartment itself was stunning--overflowing with charm, elegance, and a unique character that made just sitting in the living room an enjoyable experience. Even after a week, we were still discovering fascinating, unique details of the decoration. Finally, the apartment was well stocked with absolutely everything we needed. (Cooks will be especially delighted with the kitchen!) In addition, we highly recommend this lovely city as a home base for tourists wanting to explore other locations and activities in Provence (e.g., Avignon, Arles, Cassis, etc.)

A special apartment that will immediately feel like home.

  • 5 of 5

This impeccably clean and well outfitted apartment felt personal immediately -- probably because the owner uses it as her own home base when in Aix and has decorated it and stocked it as such. Throw open the windows and the french doors, and create a sense of living outdoors while you cook, read, or simply enjoy your company and surroundings. Step outside for the freshest ingredients either from the market that is a minute's walk, or from the finest food purveyors assembled in the winding streets surrounding this ideally-located apartment in the heart of Aix. The owner was easy to communicate with, attentive and very helpful, including suggesting and arranging a driver to meet our train to and from Paris to make our arrival and departure as smooth as possible. Be forewarned, there are many steps to navigate to reach the apartment, the loft-like 2nd bedroom and the rooftop terrace. If you're able-bodied, it will give you a chance to burn off that morning croissant. The lack of a shower for 3 adult women was a challenge, but you can see from my rating, we loved this apartment none the less. We would return in a heartbeat!

Heavenly !

  • 5 of 5

I am a longtime Francophile who travels often to France looking to experience all that I have come to love about this country. I had the great fortune to find this gem of an apartment in the middle of the old city in Aix-en-Provence, within walking distance of everything in the city. The owner is an interior designer who has used her talent to create an impeccable and beautiful home environment that enhanced our every moment (we were there for 6 weeks) in Aix. To say that the apartment is well-appointed would be an understatement as she has taken care of every detail. You will not need anything except to soak in the sunshine from the terrace and relax with all the comforts and more of home. We cannot wait to return and would recommend this apartment to anyone looking to have a fantastic French experience. The owner is simply the best with whom I have ever dealt through VRBO and Home Away !
