Description of the apartment -

· This quiet and comfortable 2 bedroom apartment is on the 5th floor of an 100-year-old modernist building. The floors are still the original colorful mosaic (a different design in every room), and the ceilings are 9 feet high. There is an elevator, air conditioning, central heating, and a full kitchen with granite countertops, dishwasher, pots & pans, dishes, etc.

The building has a roof terrace, with tables and chairs, plenty of sunshine, and views to Sagrada Familia. Please note it is a shared terrace.

Description of location -

· The apartment is located in the beautiful Eixample, halfway between Gaudi's La Pedrera (also known as Casa Milà) on the Passeig de Gracia, and Gaudi's La Sagrada Familia, just a ten-minute walk from either one. Casa Amatller and Casa Batlló are at the same short distance as well. The Eixample district has the most beautiful Art Nouveau architecture in the city dating from the last half of the XIX century.

There are many cafes, restaurants, tapas bars, and shops in the neighborhood also. Almost all buildings in the area are at least 100 years old. The 115-year-old Market of La Concepció, where you can do your grocery shopping in a traditional setting, is just 200 meters from the apartment. This market has fresh meat, produce, and cheeses, similar to the more famous Boqueria market, but less crowded and does not have some of the more exotic things.

The Eixample is recommended as a convenient location to see the different sight around the city, but not as crowded as the Old City. You can get a taste of real local life.

Transportation -

· There is a bus stop (for 8 different bus lines) on the corner right by the apartment that will take you to almost all the places of interest in the city, if you don't feel like walking. The city buses are nice and modern, and run often. The apartment is also less than 5 minutes walking from the metro station of Verdaguer, on both the yellow and blue lines. One stop away is the upscale shopping street, Passeig de Gracia, though you can easily walk there from the apartment. Three stops away is Plaza Catalunya (the very center of the city and also walkable) and the start of Las Ramblas, and the beaches are just five stops away. Four stops away you have the Old Cathedral and the Picasso Museum. There is also a parking garage close to the apartment, although renting a car in Barcelona is not recommended.

Conviently located

The apartment is in a great location. The sunroom was very nice and kitchen was well equipped . The bathroom is small especially the room with the toilet. One can barely close the door and the sink is very close to the toilet.

Our bedding didn’t smell freshly washed .

Lighting was poor. Ceiling fan in the room with the twin beds was very noisy.

Some charm and dirt

It was okay. We had just arrived from Madrid where our apartment was spotless and the beds were relatively new. It took sometime to adjust to a dirty sponge, dirty floors and uncomfortable beds.

This was a good location in Barcelona (away from Las Ramblas) and only a 10 - 15 minute walk to Sagrada Familia. As far as I could tell this was run by a management company who had several apartments in the building. We did have someone to contact if there was a problem and he responded by text quickly. However, no one actually came to repair the problem. He did give us access to another room to store our luggage the last day because our train was leaving two hours after check out and that was extremely helpful.

The interior stairs of the building had dog poop on them for several days. The apartment itself had uncomfortable beds, a toilet in a room that could not fit anything besides the toilet (you must be slender to utilize the toilet and close the door), and dirty floors. We were given one roll of toilet paper for 4 people for 5 nights and an old dirty sponge.

If you don't want to spend too much money and you'd like to stay in a place that has character (the floor tiles are cool) and you don't mind it being a bit dirty - this is a good option.

Not happy

I booked this place for 5 nights - I stayed one night and moved to a hotel. While the location was fine, the place was so noisy that I thought people were entering the place in the middle of the night. I awoke at 6am to screaming children as well. In addition, the appliances in the kitchen ( stove, microwave ) did not work. The toilet area was so small, that only a small child could use it and I am not an overweight person. Shower area was fine. As I was on vacation and would rely on the internet to research places to visit, buy tickets etc, all 4 of the networks available were so slow or dropped your connection - BEYOND FRUSTRATING IN TODAY'S WORLD - USELESS. Beds were hard and linens were obviously old. All this in one evening made for the obvious need to change to a hotel and save my vacation. Barcelona was awesome this place wasn't. So glad I decided to move on.

Badly managed. No wifi.

The mysterious Eduardo didn't ever appear despite the fact I requested a light bulb in the second bedroom. The wifi only worked in the hallway by the front door because the modem is outside the apartment. The beds weren't great and the toilet smelled of urine. Definitely looked better in the photos.
