A lovely peaceful one bedroom gite, ideal for couples, located on the first floor of a stone built 15th century farmhouse, in a tranquil rural part of Calvados, Normandy. It overlooks the moat and the garden, and beyond that there are open fields. The light and airy gite is furnished with cane and pine furniture in an open plan living area; Satellite TV, video player (50 films supplied), a DVD player (selection supplied) and a music system. The kitchen has a gas cooker, microwave & fridge / freezer. The bedroom is furnished with a double bed, a chest and two pine wardrobes. There is a garden with furniture and there is BBQ available for use. Although the gite is located in rural countryside, it is easily reached being only 10 minutes from the main castled town of Falaise, the birth place of William the Conqueror. The ferry ports of Ouistreham is 40 minutes, Dieppe 2.25 hours and Calais/Boulogne 3.25 hours away. Caen, the capital town of Normandy is 30 minutes. Le Mans is one hour.
Insurance & Cancellation Policy: We recommend clients take out their own holiday insurance policy to protect themselves for all occurrences including cancellation..
Access & responsibility: Access to the property is via a private driveway and across the moat via a foot bridge. Entrance to the property itself is via an external staircase.
There is parking available, however no responsibility can be accepted for loss or damage to any car or its contents at any time.

Sports leisure & other activities: Garcelles Golf Club is just 25 minutes drive being an 18 hole flat course where the front 9 is parkland, the back nine a more challenging woodland. Tee reservations can be made for you and possibly a playing partner (the property owner!).
Canoing and boating on the river Orne available at Clecy (30 minutes drive). A Fishing lake is just a few minutes from the apartment. The coast can be reached within 45 minutes where miles upon miles of fine beaches can be found. Sundays is 'car boot day' or Vide Greniers as they are known here in France, a popular pastime in Normandy, where you can peruse the stalls. Argentan is 20 minutes drive where there are some boutiques and restaurants. Paris is 2 1/2 hours drive or can be reached by train from Argentan.
At Mondeville2, just outside Caen centre, there are numerous superstores and boutiques where wine, beer, provisions and clothes can be purchased much cheaper than in the UK. There are also many restaurants, a bowling alley and a cinema.
We really enjoyed our stay here. Thanks for your hospitality. you have a fab place.
Its so peaceful and idyllic. It really is a wholw world away from London.
The apartment was a great base from which to explore the beautiful Normandy, countryside, towns , villages and the Normandy beaches.
We really are sorry we cant stay here longer as its so relaxing.!
Hope to come back again!
ps. We also loved all the animals especially Louis and the ducks!
This place is perfect for couples or couples with a small child. We've just had the most wonderful week staying here and our daughter (14 months) absolutely loved it. The property itself is beautiful (if anything the photos don't do it justice) and Paul and Faye have done a great job of renovating this old farmhouse (it comes with turrets and a moat!). It was so peaceful, no major roads nearby so you don't get the buzz of traffic just the wind in the trees and in the evening the frogs! There's a wonderful garden to explore and plenty of animals on the property (Louis the dog, the cats, the chickens, the fish in the moat and the swallows nesting in the roof) to keep the little one entertained.
Paul and Faye are wonderful hosts and made us feel like part of the family.
Ideally located for Falaise and you could do the coast (D-Day beaches), Bayeux, Caen etc in about 45 minutes. The Cider Route is also about 20 minutes away and well worth trying (you'll have to argue over who does the driving though!). There are lots of little towns and hamlets nearby to explore (all picturesque), local markets to visit and some great walks/bike rides on roads where you hardly see any cars.
All in all the perfect location and a great place to visit but you'll definitely need a car.
Our third visit to this wonderful gite and it won't be our last. The gite is well stocked with all the essentials and is just perfect for a couple. Louis made us very welcome and Paul and Alma were the perfect hosts. On this trip we visited some of the local gardens - particularly recommended are Jardin de Jumaju (roses), Chateau de Vendeuvre and Interieur a Ciel Ouvert. We also called in on some of the local cider makers and the only wine maker in Normandy which is highly recommended for a visit. However the highlight was on a walk around the local area when a hare ran within 10 metres and stayed foraging whilst we watched. The area is so rich in history and things to do we'll be coming back again !
We are on our way to L-Eglise 4th time and are very excited as always to stay in this tranquility for 2 weeks.
We are lucky that a random online search for something handy to travel to by car with sunny mild weather, of private and remote enough location to unwind ourselves (both in demanding employment), eco friendly (15th century stunning property on a breathtaking site!) and yet with a huge list of sightseeing opportunities around and incredible places to eat (we are foodies) had turned out to become an ideal holiday solution for our family - 2 adults and a school age child.
Just a custom made paradise organized by the best hosts ever Paul and his amazing wife whose hospitality is always much appreciated and will be never forgotten! They make you feel at home and look after you along with providing complete privacy and a top class service.
Being keen globe trotters and have travelled a lot around the world we always look forward to come back to explore more and more places like Falaise - just google the Michelin Starred Fine Fourchet an incredible restaurant on the doorstep, and the village with a fair bit of history back to William the Conqueror. We adore the lively and very touristy doll-house villages like Hornfleur - must-see art galleries, all sorts of unique little shops along its endless old picturesque streets with the marina not out of place as a film set for romantic movies, where we normally have our dinners. We love Deauville - classic French beach place weather permitting of course and wow girly shopping.
Fancy to treat yourself with a day trip to Paris for a change? Will take you up there in a couple of hours...and mark my words you will be craving to get back to L-Eglise for your peaceful nights sleep with your windows opened wide waking up next morning to the luxury of Paul's land of happiness in Normandy.
The self contained apartment which is well equipped is part of a large farmhouse in a small village just a few minutes drive from lovely Falaise and is ideal for touring this part of Normandy. Paul and Alma were perfect hosts, friendly and helpful if we had any questions, inviting us for a drink and snacks one evening but giving us plenty of space to do our own thing. Alma's cooking is lovely so it is well worth booking an evening meal if you want a special treat without going into town. The cats and dogs were lovely. A great place to stay for touring and relaxing.
we enjoyed our stay at this 15 th century farmhouse ,our hosts were very gracious,
treated us like family.!!!

If you are looking for a quiet country retreat, This is THE PLACE.

Loved the location, views, walks and the welcome on arrival. Great location for a lovely chill out break but short drive to some spectacular places of interest. If offered the evening meal cooked by Alma take up the offer. A great start to the holiday and very relaxing meal that is cooked to a very high standard. Paul and Alma are great hosts as well as Louis their very characteristic dog who has a warm friendly personality. Great feeding the fish with left over bread and Louis always tries to get a look in. The gite has everything you need with plenty of space. We loved it so much we are going back next year. Thank you Paul and Alma.
The rural village of Pertheville Ners (200 inhabitants) is located 10 minutes south of Falaise surrounded by agricultural and dairy farmland in the beautiful Calvados countryside.
