Historic, 2-story Row House offers spacious 1200 square feet of living space, 2 bedrooms, two full bathrooms and a fold-down sofa in the living room.
This is a historic building and normally to get in to historic building you have to climb flight of stairs to get in. Once you get in to the building we have the living room on that level and there are stairs inside the unit to go down to the first level where are two bedrooms and bathrooms. The unit also features outdoor seating in a small courtyard.
Gracious living-dining area for charming family meals and entertaining. Very nice modern decor with hardwood floors and nicely equipped kitchen. Free Wireless/Wired DSL for your convenience.
Our house is in the Dupont Circle neighborhood, right of 16th Street NW, few blocks from the White House and the National Mall. In this vibrant, cosmopolitan neighborhood, you will find some of the city's finest museums and historic homes as well as an array of ethnic restaurants, unique bookstores, and Washington's largest concentration of private art galleries. This perfect location provides many walking destinations including the White House, The National Mall, The Textile Museum etc.
There are two Metro Stations nearby our condo - Dupont Circle which is pretty close as well as U Street. Both within walking distance about 10 minutes. Public transportation is very easy and safe, so you will be able to get everywhere by walking or Metro.
We have lived in Washington for over ten years and love this cosmopolitan city where people get up every morning and get to work on changing the world. The most powerful people in DC can alter the course of history and try to make the world a better place. It's a city where philosophical debate and advocacy of issues beyond one's own family or pocketbook rule the day; a city where what's going on in one's head is far more important than what one is wearing; a city where people come from all over the world to experience democracy and learn the principles of our free society.
We get visitors from all over the country and the world. Some come for one time visit with their family, others keep coming back number of times a year as we host many repeat guests related to the federal government, foreign embassies and the US State Department. We take great pride in having our unit very clean (our mom cleans it, so you know it’s spotless), conveniently located within walking distance to all shopping, restaurants and Metro.
We want you to enjoy your visit whether it is once in a lifetime trip with your family or monthly visit for work. We are looking forward to hosting you in DC and if there is something we can help with, let us know.
The Owner purchased this condo in 2016
Situated in the heart of the city is the tony neighborhood of DuPont Circle. Located in a section of Washington called 'Old City', DuPont Circle is a traffic circle, neighborhood, and historic district. A number of historic homes can be found throughout the area, including the post-presidential residence of Woodrow Wilson. DuPont Circle is a known destination for fine dining and entertainment.
This cosmopolitan neighborhood includes an eclectic collection of shops and trendy restaurants that draw visitors young and old. Originally populated by Washington's old money and nouveau riche, DuPont Circle is now home to artists, intellectuals, and young professionals. Turn-of-the-century mansions and brownstones—once home to some the city's most prominent families—now house some of the nation's finest art museums, hippest restaurants, quirky shops, and foreign embassies. It is also home to the Phillips Collection, one of the city's foremost art museums featuring paintings by Renoir, Degas, Cezanne, Picasso, and others.
The proximity to the National Mall, White House and all of downtown is just unmatched in this apartment. On the weekend, DuPont Circle has one of the largest organic farmers' markets in the city. This neighborhood is accessible by foot or cab. WalkScore rates our unit and the surrounding neighborhood a walkability rating of 98 out of 100 - so as perfect as one can get. There are two Metro Stations nearby our condo - Dupont Circle which is pretty close as well as U Street. Both within walking distance about 10 minutes.
Lovely apartment - very appealing atmosphere. Great location. Incredibly comfortable beds. Only downfalls: internet was extremely unreliable (only worked about 10% of the time), washer and dryer were advertised but were not there for our entire week's stay (a real disappointment - owner said they stopped working last week and he was in process of having them replaced) and no outdoor grill (as was advertised).
We once again had a lovely stay at Swann St. This is our 7th stay here(upstairs once) and the neighborhood keeps getting better. Easy walking to Metro and shopping and many more restaurants popping up. We feel very safe in walking the streets at all times of day. The unit is comfortable and well equipped for cooking. The beds and bathrooms are great. Love sitting in the bay window watching the dog walkers.
This is one of the best VRBO rentals I've stayed in! It is clean, updated, inviting, and easy to call a home-away-from-home! The kitchen had everything we needed to make meals (with Trader Joe's and Whole Foods only a 10-15 minute walk away!), the beds were very comfortable (definitely important for an extended stay!), and the bathrooms were clean and modern. The layout was perfect with the family room/kitchen upstairs and the two bed/two bath downstairs-- made it the perfect set up for 4 adults with plenty of space. The hosts were very quick to respond to email and very kind-- they even left us a welcoming gift! (always a nice touch and really shows they take pride in their rental!) Dupont circle is an ideal location for staying in DC- there are so many bars/restaurants within walking distance (but just far enough away that the street stays quiet at night!), and there are two metro locations within a 10-15 minute walk to get you anywhere you need to go. We even walked to the mall a few times, and it only took about 30-45 minutes. We spent a long time deciding where to stay for month-long work trip to DC, and we are so happy that we stayed here!
Very walkable location. Neighborhood was lively and safe. The unit could use some touch up.
Stayed here with my sister for a few days in this lovely home in August. Perfect for us - great location near Dupont Circle and 14th street corridor, yet on a quiet side street so no street noise. Very near shopping, great restaurants and about 1/2 walk from the White House. Right
on a bus line, too, though Uber a great option and pretty inexpensive. Comfortable beds and pillows. Management accommodating to our request to store luggage for a few extra hours. Steep steps as others have mentioned but certainly was not a problem for able-bodied adults. Tip - very little light on the outdoor keypad, you will have to use your phone flashlight to locate it the first time if you arrive at night. Am staying here again when visit DC again next month.
We had a great time in Dupont Circle. The house was as expected, plenty of room for our two teenage daughters and us, and the area was awesome. The walk to the Metro was about 12-15 minutes; Trader Joe's grocery wasn't overly expensive as we thought, the restaurant selection was incredible. Get the tarts from Ted's Bulletin. Parking was a bit confusing. Get the SpotHero App if you want to do garage parking. Street parking was available during the day but nonexistent at night. The owners answered our questions when we had them. The neighborhood was very nice. If we return to DC again, we'd stay with them again.
The condo worked really well for my spouse and I and 3 kiddos. It is about a 15 minute walk to two different metro stations. The owner was very quick to respond to any needs and was very kind to let us drop luggage off well before check out time. There is a Trader Joe's about 5 minutes away that makes shopping easy. We ate two meals a day in the condo and it was a nice break from the heat outside. The kitchen is supplied very well and it was nice to have a full kitchen. The upstairs makes great use of space with a well decorated living room, kitchen, and dining room. The two bedrooms and bathrooms are down a set of stairs. Both bedrooms were clean and had comfortable beds. Having a washer and dryer within the units was very helpful. My only thought is they need to redo the grout lines in the master bedroom shower and perhaps hang something to put a hand towel on and another towel bar in that bathroom. Other than those small issues everything was wonderful. The pull out bed on the 1st floor was comfortable too. Overall we really enjoyed our stay and will rent this condo again on our next trip to D.C.! Thank you for your hospitality!
