We found the house in a very dirty condition and spent a lot of time cleaning the floors, worktops and tables. The bathroom stunk of sewerage and the beds were very rickety with very low quality bedding. Sleep was very hard to come by as there were no mosquito nets and we were bitten every night. The acoustics of the adjoining property made even light conversation from other guests seem as though they were in the our bedroom and sleep was impossible until they had retired. Outside dining was almost impossible due to the swarms of flies. The washing m/c ruined some of our clothes. The electric cooker had no instructions and was very hard to use. The general quality of the cutlery and crockery left a lot to be desired. but the fridge did keep the beer cold, and the pool was nice. All in all a very poorly maintained property that needs some investment and better management to bring it up to an acceptable standard.

Owner's Response: Es la primera vez que tenemos un huésped que es una pesadilla. Negamos que sean ciertos sus comentarios. Le pregunté el segundo día via e-mail cómo había encontrado la casa y me responde:”We are pleased with the house”. A la semana de estancia solicita sábanas y toallas nuevas y se le entregan sin ningún coste. La sorpresa es que sin autorización metió a dos personas a dormir en la casa. Juan, el jardinero le preguntaba cada mañana si necesitaba algo y contestaba que todo bien.La pesadilla fué después de su marcha:Nos enviaba muchos correos chantajeándonos y amenazandonos con lo siguiente: Si no le devolvemos dinero nos pondría un comentario muy negativo, a lo cual ya no accedimos. En fin, una pesadilla. Juan y Rosa son el matrimonio que trabaja en la plantación, ella se encarga de la limpieza y me da mucha pena porque están desolados ante tanta falsedad. It is the first time we have a guest who is a nightmare. We deny that your comments are true. I asked him the second day via e-mail how he had found the house and he replied: "We are pleased with the house". The week of stay requests new sheets and towels and is delivered at no cost. The surprise is that without authorization put two people to sleep in the house. Juan, the gardener asked him every morning if he needed something and he answered that everything well. The nightmare was after his departure: He sent us many emails blackmailing us and threatening us with the following: If we do not give him back money we would put a very negative comment, which we no longer agree. In short, a nightmare. Juan and Rosa are the marriage that works in the plantation, she is in charge of the cleaning and I am very sorry because they are desolate before so much falsehood.

Peace and tranquillity personified!

One of the best holiday lets we've ever had. Carmen was lovely and went out of her way to make us feel welcome. The house was lovely. Clean, well equipped and just so peaceful. A good night's sleep guarenteed. The pool is a lovely size to swim in. Some private pools are only good to cool down, but this was a proper pool with plenty of sun or shelter whichever you prefer, and ample sun beds for everyone staying in the two lets available. So nice to be able to turn up at the pool any time and not have to fight for a sunbed. Juan - the gardener, come pool cleaner, come maintenance, come guide, banana picker, holiday rep etc was the star of the show. Always there to help without being one bit intrusive. To be honest, if you want to go anywhere off of the plantation, a car is an absolute must. There is a huge superbly stocked supermarket within walking distance, but walking would not be recommended as there is no footpath and the road is fast. All the night life (which is at a nice pace) is 20 minutes away, but again it is nowhere near close enough to walk to. All in all a fabulous place to stay if you want peace and quiet, and comes very highly recommended by us! Thank you Carmen.

Nettes Haus, sehr nette Gastgeber.

Das Haus ist rustikal und bot alles was wir brauchten, für kleine Kinder fehlt vielleicht eine Spielmöglichkeiten, der Pool ist eher etwas für die Großen. Die fünf Sterne gibt es aber dennoch, da die Gastgeber sich sehr bemühten uns den Aufenthalt so angenehm wie möglich zu machen. Ein Wespennest wurde unverzüglich entfernt, es wurde sofort ein neuer Babystuhl gekauft, der (durch uns) verstopfte Abfluss werde gleich repariert, ...

Wir werden gerne wiederkommen.

Los Gigantes hideaway

Quiet cottage up the hill away from the crowds in a banana plantation, views of La Gomera and the cliffs at Los Gigantes from the terraces. Bananas, canaries, blackbirds, blackcaps, swifts, kestrels, and an owl, all in the trees around the upper terraces of this pleasant house. Stargazing from the terrace at night. Two supermarkets within ten mins walk, or two min drive. Lovely swimming pool again with excellent views over Playa la Arena, Puerto Santiago and La Gomera. Relax, read, swim, walk. The owners are lovely and very friendly, and leave you to enjoy your holiday. We are going back next year, what more can I say.

Spacious and well located for walking

The photos on the website don't really do this property justice. Sitting in an elevated position you have a view over the sea and the island of La Gomera to the west and banana plantation to the east. Inside and outside there is a lot of room for two couples or a family. The ground floor terrace is lovely for meals in the evening and the swimming pool area is fantastic, again with wonderful views. The property was ideal for our purpose as a walking base for the Tamaimo valley which is spectacular. An hours drive ( it looks much nearer!) gets you to Mount Teide and it's an easy hour an a quarter drive to Santa Cruz. Large Mercadona supermarket nearby well stocked with the basics and local specialties with a Lidl a little further on. Highly recommended.

Super location and lovely pool but Casita facilities a little 'tired'

It's in a great location and easy to get to from the airport, once you know where you're going. Very tricky to find in the dark so we were driving up and down TF47 for quite a while! The casita is beautifully positioned high up with views down to the sea, which is only a 5 minute drive or so. Apart from bananas, there are avocado, papaya and mango trees too with lots of bird twittering, which we loved. Super outside area (as shown in the pictures) with a really fabulous swimming pool shared with one other property but not overlooked by anyone. The pool was the jewel really!

On the downside, the kitchen was not very well equipped with odd crockery, only 3 mugs but about 40 glasses. Some of the kitchen tools were broken. Admittedly, it was end of the main season so I'm sure alot of this will be rectified. Also, the ceramic hob didn't have any instuctions and we couldn't work it out for ages (doh!). The main issue for me and my husband was the bed in the bigger bedroom. It was only a small double and creaked madly every time you even moved slightly. We ended up having to alternate with one of us in the creaking bed and the other downstairs on the sofa. They really do need to replace the bed as we ended up quite sleep deprived which spoilt things a little! The bed linen and towels could also do with replacing as they are rather worn.

That being said, if the kitchen was reequipped and the bed changed I can highly recommend this beautiful place, so please don't be put off by my comments, I just hope Carmen will have this sorted out so the house is as wonderful as it could and should be!
