Overview

About the property

La Era will reward you with a beautiful country views and a pool.

Charming 2 bed house/villa, set in open countryside with fantastic views of El Torcal Mountain and surrounding farmland, 45 minutes North of Malaga. The villa is set up for that "Al Fresco" style of living with private pool, BBQ and sun terraces. However surprisingly the house/villa is only ten minutes walk from the traditional Spanish village of Villanueva de la Concepcion with all amenities. The "watchword" at La Era is total tranquility and relaxation you are only likely to be disturbed by the twittering of birds and the tinkling of bells on the goat herds as they wander by.

Complementary WIFI available and a private swimming pool.

Please note:

High Season only available to rent weekly= 7 nights.

No Dog is in residence at Casa La Era. We do not accept pets.

(No hay perros en CASA LA ERA, no se aceptan animales domesticos).

Some past guests comments:

" Belle et confortable propriété ayant vue à 360 degrés sur les montagnes dont celles du Torkal."

“It is les than 10 minutes walk from Villanueva where one can find all sorts of shops and restaurants.

“.the town has everything you need right on your bars with tapas where fab”

Guestbook comments from the owner

Casa la Era is located in a quiet but close to all amenities: shops , restaurants and tapas bars. Close to major roads, Villanueva de la Concepcion is ideally located to get to Antequerra, Malaga, Granada, Seville, Cordoba .. And what a pleasure after visits can cool off in the beautiful pool! Heaven.

  • 5 of 5

Beautiful villa in countryside but only 5 minute walk up to the village bars, restaurants and shops.

Property surrounded by gardens providing fresh fruit and veg. Also, adjoining henhouse supplying eggs.

Anita (owner) arrived with a delicious home-made paella on a day of our choice.

Absolutely perfect holiday. We will be back soon.

Excellent in all respects

  • 5 of 5

This is a difficult review to write as i would love to keep this little gem a secret. This is an excellent villa with all the amenities you could wish for. The villa itself is spacious and well set out but it is the outside space that really sets this apart. There is a large pool and lovely gardens full of fruit trees and vegetables with a hen house set away from the house that will furnish you with fresh eggs. The owners and there English friend are very helpful and a joy to deal with. The area itself is lovely and if you can handle the mountain roads gives you access to some lovely areas. We hope to return

Lovely villa and friendly welcome and care

  • 4 of 5

La Era is a well equipped, clean villa and a very comfortable place to stay. Facilities are good and the air-conditioning in the double bedroom was very welcome. The villa and pool are very well maintained and the nearby presence of Senor and Senora Ramirez was reassuring - and very, very welcome when the only real problem we encountered came along - the hot water boiler completely failed and they found and installed a new replacement in less that 24hrs and even offered us their own home for showering facilities in the meantime! The views are stunning and the centre of the peaceful and welcoming small town of Villanueva de la Concepcion is just10 minutes walk away and has a good supermarket as well as butchers, bread, pharmacy, hardware etc shops, and restaurants. We found a bit of an annoyance with the neighbours dogs which barked sometimes for an hour or more at a time and sometimes in the night and, during our visit, there were roadworks going on outslde the house on the rural but well-used road but neither of these things were, of course, were in the control of the owners. The English translation service the owners use enabled our emails or texts to be responded to very quickly and efficiently. The owners are building a further small house on the site which will make it a good location for, for example, those wanting to share a pool with others - but they weren't building during letting of the current villa so all was quiet! We had a good holiday in a beautiful part of Spain.

Issues

  • 2 of 5

Everything is to a good standard in the house. However, I wanted and requested a rental in the country, for fresh air, which is what I thought I was getting. When I arrived I found the house chock full of air fresheners, so the whole place was a smog of vile claggy smells. Even after I had bagged up all the air fresheners, the bedrooms still were overpowering, and the sofa too. I had to be careful not to lean on it, as it would release a cloud of air freshener every time. As I couldn´t sleep in the bedrooms I was forced to sleep on the floor of the main room. As I particularly requested fresh air, I was somewhat disapointed. If that was the only issue, I´d probably give the house a begrudging 4 stars. However, next to the house, and not, to my knowledge, in the pictures, is a kind of brick construction. It is quite large and pretty ugly. Behind it is a dog kennel of sorts. On the other side of the house is the henhouse. I am sure the description will be updated soon to include all these facts.

When I arrived, I found out the house came with a dog. I was offered to have the dog relocated. I was however happy to walk the family dog as it was good exercise for me. (I didn´t bill the landlord). However, the whole issue of Spanish animal welfare is a difficult one for us northern Europeans, and to have it in my face for a month was pretty unpleasant. The relentless howling and hoarse barking of dogs in Andalucia is troubling enough in itself, but I had to look after a dog that seemed to have no other purpose in life other than as a mammalian alarm system. The poor creature was housed outside in all weathers, in an open-ended kennel. When the wind was whiping off the mountain on freezing cold January nights, I felt abject pity for the poor creature. I wanted to buy it a nice bone from the butchers, but apparently the dog was a strict vegetarian, so that got kiboshed. I was aware of the dog at all times actually. If I left it housed in its quarters at night, it howled and barked a lot, so it was better to let it roam the whole enclosure of the house. As a result it would camp outside the back door of the house. The dog would wake me early in the morning with its whimpering. It would often leap up at me in a desperate quest for affection. It was a big powerful dog. I don´t know quite what else to say. There are two scaggy probably flea ridden cats that seem confined to the house enclosure, and this sad dog. I think if you don´t like animals, don´t have them.

Owner's Response: We are very disappointed and surprised to receive this negative review particularly as these issues were not raised during your stay with us. We can't rewind what has happened or change the strength of your feeling on these issues, however we would like to add the following comments – the property is of good quality and the air fresheners were there because we take the presentation of the property seriously. We are sorry that this was not to your liking and that you felt it impacted your ability to enjoy your stay, had the issue been raised at the time we would have endeavoured to assist. In respect of the dog, you opted to have the opportunity to keep the dog and never indicated otherwise during your stay. Again we are sorry that this was not to your liking and will consider whether it is appropriate to offer guests this option in the future. We will take your comments on board and hope that you will return to enjoy the beautiful Andalusia in the future.

Schönes Haus mit tollem Grundstück

  • 5 of 5
