My wife and I enjoy meeting fellow travelers. My wife is a nurse and I have worked in Land Surveying. We also own a tractor contracting business and I teach Aikido and sailing. We have lived in this area since 1977 after moving inland from Friday Harbor, WA. Our children were born in Sandpoint and have completed their higher education with Masters. They travel the world and absorb it's greater viewpoints. We enjoy skiing and are avid Ocean and Lake sailors. Our Homeport is Anacortes, WA and Hope, ID. We love the Pacific NW, the Puget Sound, Inland lakes/ Mountains and our Canadian neighbors just north of us.
We were married in Hope and love the feeling of its lifestyle. We plan on retiring there.
Quality of Life. Reflection time with loved ones and nature. Come and we will show you. It may be hard to leave as it was for us....so we stayed 40 years and counting.
The folks above stayed with us at separate times during the Summers of 08 and 09. Some have returned each year. We have many others that we would like to list. All their comments are in our guestbook. All have been very positive since we opened our rental in the Spring of 08. The reviews read very similar in following examples; " Loved the views off the deck, Home was very clean and felt like Grandma'a house, Hate to leave, look froward to coming back. Loved the sail, enjoyed watching our children interact on the boat, Great Hospitality, See you next year. What a wonderful place to stay. Colors of the area were refreshing-deep hues of the lake contrasted with tall evergreens and maples. Thanks for the bikes. Had a great time exploring." If you would like references please let us know. We want you to enjoy your stay.
My wife and I brought our two kids to stay at the Hope Cabin. It was like stepping back in time, such a great little house, refinished, well stocked and decorated like you were borrowing your cool aunt and uncle's lake place.
We had a great time, convenient to lots of parks and SandPoint if you choose to go into town.... we preferred to stay closer in. The highlight of the stay for my daughter (as well as myself) was sailing on Lenny's boat, the NEN. Truly an amazing time gliding silently across the lake.
Thank you for such a great place, we plan on coming back next summer!
Myself, my adult daughter & my 85 year old aunt stayed in this wonderful cabin for the week. We fell in love with it instantly! We were taken by the vintage feel, the antique furnishings & its spaciousness!
The bedroom on the main floor is very large with 2 twin beds & an adjoining bathroom. The second bedroom is furnished with a bunkbed & has ample closet & dresser space.
Finally, the 3rd bedroom is downstairs with a half bath. It offered a quiet, cool place to dwell for my daughter.
The kitchen is large. We were all able to work together in meal prep & it wasnt crowded. The barbecue out on the deck was very useful. The deck is the best feature! We spent more time there than anywhere. One of the best views of the lake from Hope!
Full laundry set in the basement came in very handy for our beach towels, & clothes. I was glad to only have to pack half a week's clothes because of this feature.
Lenny took us for a tour of the lake on his sailboat. We had such a nice time as he told us many facts about the lakes formation & history of the area. Thank you, Lenny.
The cabin is spotlessly clean & lots of storage. We've already booked for next year & we just left yesterday!
We had such a wonderful time in this cabin. The lake view from the large deck is breathtaking, we couldn't get enough of it! The air conditioning in the bedroom was a savior as it was very hot during our stay. This was much appreciated. We enjoyed riding the bikes that were available for us to use at the cabin. The bikes were in great condition. We swam in the lake on different occasions and access to the lake was very easy at many different spots near by. The owner was very accommodating and took time to talk to us about the area and things to do. He recommended a few hikes that we enjoyed doing. We used the grill on the desk every night and enjoyed the beautiful sunsets. The area is very peaceful. The house was well stocked and clean, we had everything we could possibly need. We've been to many VRBOs throughout the US and this cabin is one of the best we've experienced. It was great! If we come back to this area, we will stay there again...
My 86 year old mother, my sister, and I stayed in this quaint cabin the first week of July. The instant we walked in we felt like we were home. My sister and I walked daily in the area admiring the beautiful landscapes and enjoyed sitting on the deck eating or drinking a bottle of wine. My mother loved how comfortable it was and how easy she was able to get around. If you rent for a week, the owner will take you on a sailboat ride which he also uses as a teaching experience. We each had a chance to take the wheel and steer the boat and we also helped with the lines and sheets. There is a cover over it so my mother was able to stay out of the heat. The owner is so nice and has lots of great stories to tell. You can never go wrong in selecting this property. I hope we can make it back next year and do it all over again.
For years I have had a special connection to Hope, Id. We came up often to fish. Hours spent on this lake with my dad are my most treasured memories. I'm now 75 years old.
The house provided a cozy respite from normal life. The options to explore at close hand are endless depending upon your life style and physical abilities.
The house is a welcoming presence, decorated to enhance the surroundings and stir the soul.
There are fine dining places close by, bike and hiking trails, huckleberry picking in season. There are several marinas. The owners are native to the area and can guide you to the exact experience you are looking for.
If you stay once, my feeling is that you will go back! This place and location is a gem!
