About Lucy Tuson

I live locally with my two young sons. Our beautiful cottage has been featured in numerous magazines and even in a TV advert as its very quirky! We love the beautiful sandy beaches around Thanet which has so much to offer residents and visitors alike. You will often find me walking or riding around the coast on a sunny day or popping into see some art at Turner Contemporary when the sky turns grey.

Why Lucy Tuson chose Birchington-on-Sea

Flint cottages looked so lovely from the outside and has been lovingly restored to make it bright, modern and filled with unique and unusal design touches. There is so much to enjoy from the use of our beach hut at Minnis Bay in the summer, the log burning stove on a cold evening, the quirky decorations to the lovely garden. I hope you enjoy the cottage as much as we do.

What makes this house unique

The cottage is a delight, small but with great design, it has a real sense of space that you may not expect from a historical cottage of its age. I love the Shell Grotto inspired fireplace for a winter's snuggle on the sofa or enjoying a glass of bubbles out in the garden of a summer evening. I also love that I can take a walk across the fields to Minnis Bay in between 15-30 minutes and head down to the beach hut for a beachy afternoon and a sea swim!

A beautiful cool and quirky property, uniquely decorated to welcome all who want to really relax.

  • 5 of 5

Lucy the owner and her partner Kevin have gone to great lengths in making their cottage a welcoming and friendly environment to all who stay here. The seaside/fairground themed décor immediately puts you in a happy and relaxed mood and is very tastefully done.

The cottage is very cosy, with a fully supplied kitchen and everything is in place and ready for use. The log burner in the front room is also a beautiful feature that gives you that home from home feeling while you curl up on the comfy sofa two watch the flat screen television.

We had a wonderful time visiting nearby Minnis Bay and dining in the local restuarants.

My wife and I would definitely recommend this unique property to anyone wishing to visit Birchington and the Thanet coast. .

Delightful Quirky Cottage

  • 5 of 5

Stayed for 6 days whilst visiting family in area. The cottage was ideal for us but, as advertised, may not suit anyone with mobility issues as it has a steep staircase and car parking is in the next street (but only 100 metres or so away). The decoration and furnishings are very quirky but give a very comfortable feel to the property. It was very clean and the bathroom and shower were modern. It also has a delightful small sunny garden with table and chairs for outdoor eating. The welcome pack on arrival with wine, hot cross buns (it was Easter time!), croissants and cake etc was a very welcome surprise. We did not use the beach hut available with the property but saw Minnis Bay where it is and can imagine that it would be great fun in warmer weather. I can thoroughly recommend this cottage and hope to be able to stay there again!

Lovely cottage

  • 5 of 5

We had another lovely weekend at the cottage.

The weather was again amazing, so we used the beach hut twice.

We cycled to and from Margate too, which was great.

Thank you for another great long weekend.

Lovely, unique cottage.

  • 4 of 5

We had a great time at Flint Cottage. We loved all the vintage and modern interior touches. I loved the Andy Tuohy art work! Much nicer than a bland 'beige' normal holiday let. Great high street, and delicious Fish and chips from The Seabells. The added bonus is you get the use of the owners beach hut on Minnis Bay. We were very lucky with the weather, and had a lovely time on the beach, which has a small beach cafe and a bar/restaurant, and portaloos! Dreamland in Margate is only a 15min or so drive away, and our kids loved it. They have done a great renovation job. We will definitely be re-booking Flint cottage.

Very nicely decorated with some wonderful touches!

  • 4 of 5

We had a very wet (bad planning on our part) but wonderful week in this delightful small cottage.

The property had been decorated very well, with a beach/sea/retro feel running throughout.

On arrival we found a lovely welcome hamper with essentials (inc. wine) to keep us going until we had time to shop.

The High Street in Birchington is just around the corner and has everything you could wish for.

We loved the beach hut at Minnis Bay and the sunsets (when it wasn't raining) were stunning!

WIFI at the cottage was a definite plus!! Especially for the kids with their tablets etc.The only slight downfalls to the property were the shower curtain - shower is too powerful for it and sometimes left the floor soaked and the freezer door did not close properly which meant some of our frozen food thawed.

All in all we had a great week here and would happily return, hopefully with the sun next time!

Owner's Response: Thanks for your review John and we have used your feedback to make some changes to the cottage - which includes a new retro style fridge and new shower head which should solve those issues.

Kleine knusse vakantiewoning

  • 3 of 5

Leuke woning, schoon maar klein. Frisse inrichting. Weinig bergruimte.
