I am Global Account Manager for an American multinational technology company and been fortunate enough to have travelled all over the world seeing many beautiful sites. There is however something very special about the Austria Alps, which draws me, back each year.
Nick Fairbrother purchased this apartment in 2015
With a passion for the outdoors and a young family it was inevitable that we would eventually end up buying a property in the Austria Aps for the summer and winter months. When we first arrived in Rauris nicknamed the “Golden Valley of the Alps” we noticed it was far removed from the hustle and bustle of the outside world, Rauris Valley in SalzburgerLand has managed to preserve all that is good and genuine. Needless to say we fell in love with the village and the Schönblick Mountain Resort and Spa.
With everything on your doorstep from a Mountain Spa Centre with indoor swimming pool, sauna, steam bath, gym room and relaxation room, to the Hochalmbahn gondola from where you can access the local ski area or marked walking paths in the summer. It is certainly an ideal location for active holidays year round, offering many options including skiing, walking, cycling, whitewater rafting archery, rock climbing canyoning and even gold panning!!
The apartment is very well equipped, especially the kitchen (sharp knifes, two fridges, washing machine...). We missed only more glasses for the toothbrushes in the bathroom (more space) and hand shower (sprinkler head) would be better than overhead sprinkler head.
Nick was very friendly and helpful in all the communications we had - very easy to get hold of and always willing to answer any questions. He sent me lots of links for things to do and was happy to offer advice on where to get the best flight and car hire deals. The listing includes lots of photos, so there were no unwelcome surprises, i.e. it was exactly as shown. We particularly liked the large balcony and having an allocated underground car parking space was very convenient. The setting is truly stunning. The village the apartment is in is both beautiful and useful: 2 good supermarkets, a bakery and cafe plus a range of restaurants etc (tho worth noting the restaurants are pretty quiet in the evenings - the village is busier in the day, at least in the summer). You are minutes away from the cable car that takes you up to a couple of cafes, and a number of hiking paths which, if you are in the mood, you can scoot down with the help of a local activity centre based at the foot of the cable car offices (really fun and less scary than it sounds). The village also contains possibly the most stunningly located outdoor lido we have ever seen! The apartment is managed by an agency who are on-site and I am happy to say that all of the people we encountered (actually, just 3 individuals) were very nice to deal with and like Nick, were easy to get hold of. All in all, pretty good!
The property was lovely: bright clean and spacious with all the gadgets you could possibly need. The information given was accurate and the team on the site were very helpful. The apartment has a balcony which gets the sun in the late afternoon and evening. Despite being the latter part of September the weather was warm enough to enjoy eating on the balcony. Rauris itself is a hidden gem; a small pretty village in a beautiful mountain setting with lots of things to do in the surrounding area. This is the first time we have been here in the summer months and we will definitely be back. The whole booking process was incredibly straightforward and the owners very helpful. I would thoroughly recommend this apartment and I would be more than happy to use it again.
I would highly recommend this property to anyone. It is well-maintained, stylish and has up to date technology. Very handy for the children in the mornings !
The views from the balcony are stunning . We all are missing our breakfasts on the balcony whilst looking at the mountains.
The setting is close to everywhere. Rauris village is beautiful and has many restaurants and a beautiful Lido. Opposite the apartment is the cable car and the hike to the most spectacular views.
We could recommend a Salterburger pass which , once purchased for around 60 Euros , gives free entry to over 50 attractions/spas etc. It saved us so much money and for families larger than 4 the subsequent family members get free passes !!!!!!
We loved the nearby fishing too where if you catch the fish it's cooked in the restaurant.
Saltzburg is about an hour and a half drive away and is the most beautiful city I have visited.
We are returning next Summer and would also like to try it for skiing too.
Book now . !!
Excellent location right next to the slopes (approx. 300m), nice landscape and quiet atmosphere.
Apartment is spacious, clean and well-maintained, furnished and decorated on a high standard. Large balcony with mountain view.
Comfortable beds, well-equipped kitchen.
Wellness area with an indoor pool, a sauna, steam bath, and infra-red cabin can be reached on an underground passageway.
Elevator, underground private parking place.
Bar and Restaurant on site, free wired internet access both in the apartment and in the Bar.
Rauris is a nice small town with many restaurants, shops, groceries.
Excursions to Kaprun, Zell-am-See, Bad Gastein, Sportgastein etc., many attractions.
Nice owners, friendly and professional management, reasonable price, no hidden costs. Highly recommended:)
Fabulous apartment, very well equipped and perfect for a family holiday. Plenty to do in the summer - we hiked, cycled, swam, skied and relaxed. We will definitely be back, hopefully for a winter stay!
Rauris Valley is a world of nature and memorable experiences during the summer: 295 km of marked hiking paths and alpine trails in Rauris Valley, 780 km of hiking paths in Taxenbach, the great birds-of-prey including bearded vultures, griffon vultures and golden eagles, as well as other free-roaming wild animals, evidence of bygone days when this area represented the heart of gold mining, places of immense natural power such as Rauriser UrQuell spring and natural jewels like Rauris Virgin Forest and Kitzloch Gorge.
For the kids in the summer there is a combination of sports from mountain bike, whitewater rafting, horse riding, rock climbing, archery, paragliding, scuba diving, canyoning, go ape style climbing to water skiing and doughnuts on Zell Am See lake only 20 mins away.
In winter, 30 km-long Rauris Valley and Taxenbach greet guests with pristine winter landscapes that invite you to go winter hiking, cross-country skiing, ski touring and snowshoeing far removed from the hustle and bustle of the outside world. And of course, we can’t forget the climate-friendly family ski area served by the Rauriser Hochalmbahnen, which never fails to excite rookie skiers and families alike.
