About the property

2 BR house, living room, bath, huge veranda, close to beach, amazing sunsets

Buff unit, part of SERIFIANS residencies, is the perfect retreat from the fast pace of the world. Nestled on the tip of a natural rock, the headland gives way to a pristine sandy beach on one side and stunning natural rock & craggy bays on the other.

The house is built out of stone in the unpretentious spirit of the island and has the stamp of its owner’s architectural view.

With all the island's beaches nearby, activities are plentiful & your relaxing holiday is awaiting you!

Bufo unit can host a family or group of friends reuniting for holidays. The Residence is part of a 3-acre (12,000m2) property and reflects a state-of-the-art restoration of the original structure of four stone-built agricultural residencies which were built in the early years of 20th century.

The interiors are furnished with emphasis on traditional elegance providing style, simplicity and comfort for the guests.

The house provides for our gusts multiple leisure alternatives and privacy escapes, the sitting areas invite to relax, and one remote patio and a traditional oven and barbecue are perfect for preparing al fresco meals.

The terrace functions as a summer dining and sitting area and also invite you to sunbathe and relax whilst gazing at the magnificent view of the Aegean sea and Vagia beach.

The entrance yard features a sitting/dining outdoor area, a living-dining room with a fire place and a sofa bed, a fully equipped kitchen and a traditional wood-oven, a guest bathroom, a master bedroom and a children upper-lower berth room.

The house accommodates up to 5 persons including kids.

The house is fully equipped with fridge, oven, ceramic plates, washing machine and clothes dryer capability, dish washer, hair dryers, iron and iron board, toast maker, coffee maker, water boiler, blender, all kitchen utensils, linens and more. There is 24-hour support from authorized staff in any technical matter you may need.

Serifos

The island has its own distinct charming Cycladic flair with its rugged mining sites, history and mythology. The island exudes a calm atmosphere despite its arid and wild landscape characteristics and is gracefully embraced by the turquoise blue colors of the Aegean Sea.

Apart from having a laid back and relaxed holiday, you can enjoy the magnificent beaches and outdoor activities such as hiking, climbing, mountain biking, windsurfing, snorkeling, diving and many more. The island's untouched nature and low-key nightlife maintain its exclusivity.

Vagia Residence is located 5 km from Livadi (the island’s port), only a 10 minute drive by car. And another 5 km from Livadi is the island’s capital, the Chora.

Livadi & Chora

Livadi, the harbor, is an ideal place for taking a stroll along sea front with its wide range of restaurants, bars and coffee shops, etc. All your shopping can be done within walking distance; you will find grocery stores, bakeries, butchers, fruit shops and the island’s pharmacy.

If you like to swim, the port area has two beautiful sandy beaches: Avlomonas and Livadakia.

Chora, the main village, is built amphitheatrically on a rocky hill overlooking the island and harbor from the top. The locals have respected the Cycladic architectural tradition by building white cube-shaped houses. Strolling through the winding narrow streets of Chora, you will discover some bars, cafés and taverns, blending into the whole scene harmoniously. Take a walk up to the 15th century’s Venetian castle; visit the small chapels and windmills, perched precariously, offering breathtaking views of the island.

Magnificent Beaches

Serifos’ coastline offers plenty of beaches to choose from: rocky, pebbly or sandy ones accompanied by crystal blue waters.

The island’s beaches are reached either by car, walking trails or by sea.

Easily accessible sandy beaches are Agios Sostis, Psili Ammos, Agios Ioannis, Sikamia, Kalo Ambeli, Ganema and Vagia, where the residence is located.

Our Neighborhood

The location of our residence is ideal for exploring the whole island, for both, adults and children. Enjoy a relaxed walk at dawn or in the evening through the former vineyard valley or old Vagia village. On your way, you will find the little chapel of Agios Konstantinos and the Vagia gorge. Have a look at the old iron-mining facilities and the beach of Vagia or just walk down the hill on a private path to the isolated beach of the seagull island.

An unforgettable experience is picking summer grapes and wild-figs whilst strolling around in the neighborhood.

The residence features magnificent sea views towards south-west and in less than a 5 minute drive (or 15 minute walk) you reach the most beautiful yet unspoilt sandy beaches of the island: Vagia and Ganema.

Nearby restaurants are the Cocomat hotel restaurant (1 km away), the Ganema beach tavern (2 km away) and Ganema Pezoules tavern (also 2 km away).

Serifian Cuisine

Serifian dishes are full of aromas and flavors! Try the meat products such as louzes, syglina (traditional cured pork) and sausages. Taste marathopites and marathotiganites (fennel pies baked or fried), revythada (traditionally cooked chickpeas) with a local variety of raisins, sun-dried octopus, local cheeses such as myzithra and xinomyzithra.

If you like sweets, try pasteli (sesame bar) which is cut in a diamond shape, with an almond in the middle.

Climate

Serifos temperatures average between 23 and 25 Celsius with low humidity throughout the summer; highest temperatures are usually reached in August.

Car is necessary for exploring the island and its wonderful sites.

Note: please make car arrangements as soon as possible. We can assist you.

Secluded paradise on a hill looking over Vagia

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful stay in this house which is at the ground level of the propriety yet entirely independent from the upper house (that is surely equally worth to be rented). Both houses are linked by an intermediate big terrace with bbq, open air kitchen and a sunset hut - as we called it - to watch the sunset while being protected from the wind!

It's an oasis of tranquillity with magnificent views (sunset on Vagia beach on one side, blue horizon on the other), the house is well equipped and very nicely decorated but the greatest is the confortable and big outdoor space.

The house is at 5 min from Vagia beach by car (crystal clear water and sand & pebble beach that is better when windy). Renting a car is recommended and more confortable as the house is situated on a hill with a little wild road... You're also close to Ganema, Koutalas beach and Kalo Ampeli, but the port & Livadi are only 10 min away.

We felt at home and we hope to come back!

Special thanks to Dimitri & Periklis for their help & welcome!

The villa is only 5 km away from the port of Livadi on a crescent shaped bay. the sea front board walk at Livadi offers a choice of restaurants, lounge bars and coffee shops, while several grocery stores, bakeries, butchers, fruit shops and a pharmacy are within walking distance from one another. hora – the “capital” town of serifos is a 10 minute car drive up the hill from livadi. hora is topped by the ruins of a 15th century venetian castle. a stroll through the winding streets of hora with its cube-shaped houses will let you discover chapels and windmills perched precariously and offering breathtaking views of the island.

the coastline of the island offers a diversity of easily accessible sandy beaches (Kalo Ambeli, Ganema, Vagia, Agios Sostis -where the villa is located, Psili Ammos, Ag. Ioanis, Sykamia). for those interested in hiking and exploring, there are several marked hiking paths which allow an inland discovery of the island with its many villages and monasteries. in the north of the island near the village of Galani, the fortified monastery Moni Taxiarchon (archangel), built in 1500, is run by a single monk. the monastery contains fine 15th century frescoes and rare byzantine manuscripts.
