A well equipped two bedroom apartment with a large garden situated in a lovely part of town with good transport links and off dedicated off street parking.

This apartment comes fully equipped with all modern conveniences as well as having a large garden with patio area for your enjoyment. Of particular note is the fact that it has all rooms are air conditioned so temperature can be controlled all year round.

It is ideally suited to family's and groups of friend's visiting or working in London or the busy commercial center in Croydon.

As with our other apartments we have made a special effort to ensure that everything you will need for you stay, from bedding to pots and pans to hairdryers and ironing board….are provided for your use.

This apartment has it's own washing machine and tumble dryer.

As you can see in the photos there is the comfort of a leather sofa and the additional convenience of a table and chairs for dining in the kitchen dining area.

The flat screen TV is 38’’ and the picture quality is excellent.

As a general rule I prefer stays of four days or longer but shorter periods are maybe available so please ask if in doubt.

Both Iain and I are very keen travelers and have experienced all sorts of levels of accommodation in other countries, with that in mind our goal here is to try and provide quality, self contained accommodation with a high level of privacy and independence.

Why Gary Scott chose South Croydon

Croydon town center is a fifteen minute walk or short bus hop away and the area is very well served by public transport.

The iconic Whitgift shopping center has 140 retailers under one roof, is open seven days a week and central Croydon has an abundance of restaurants and bars.

There are convenience stores and super-markets within a few minutes walk.

Croydon has the largest population of all the Boroughs in London, and with Croydon Town acting as the heart of the borough; it could almost be a city in itself.

The area has always been a leader in financial, business and cultural sectors and is considered to be very well balanced with great living and working opportunities mixed with a bustling town center and many green open areas. It also has a great alternative/arts scene, making living or staying in Croydon an increasingly attractive choice for anyone not wanting to pay higher London prices.

The Borough of Croydon formed in 1965 and the name derives from Saxon times, meaning “valley of the crocuses!” – Crocuses are a plant in the iris family, for those wondering!

As mentioned above, Croydon has always been a leader in financial and business sectors; this dates back to when the area boasted the city’s first and only airport of its time. The now defunct airport is a Grade II listed building and a tourist attraction.

Looking forward, Croydon has a large regeneration plan running. The plans aim to make the area London’s “third city” by 2020 and are pumping £3.5 billion into major “master plans” in East, West and Mid Croydon as well as Fairfield and Oldtown.

Croydon acts as a gateway from South London to Central London and has many major roads running through it, including Purely Way – great for commuters. The Borough has so many great opportunities of its own that you don’t have to see it only as a commuter choice for London (despite the fact it is), but also a great place to live and work.

The Brighton Mainline rail links Croydon with Sussex, Kent and Surrey

Very comfortable

Property was well maintained. Rooms clean. beds comfortable. Close to train but initial search for house delayed as street name changes further down the road. Great to have a washer and dryer. Flowers on the table a nice touch. Great place to come home to after a day of sightseeing.

Well resourced house, but filthy and noisy

The house is well equipped for a family stay and ordinarily would've been fine (notwithstanding the family upstairs with a small toddler crashing around at all hours). However, on arrival at 6.30pm we found that no-one had cleaned the house following the last family. The floors were filthy (crumbs, pieces of food everywhere, including the bedrooms), the toilet full and unflushed, dirty towels on the rails, and (very) dirty/smelly sheets on the beds. My wife and I, with our three tired children, then had to strip all of the beds, vacuum and mop the whole house and wipe everything down. Gary did quickly contact the cleaner to come in with clean sheets and towels (she had forgotten to come in during the day to do her job). But when she arrived, she was very slow and was only able to make three beds in the time we cleaned everything else. By the time we finished and managed to get some dinner for the children, it was 9pm.

The cleaner promised to come in again to do a mid-stay clean of the house, but she never came back and did not return our messages.

Meanwhile after the initial response, Gary also did not bother to check up and see if everything was ok. This was very disappointing after the amount of work we had to do to clean up his mess. We left the house in a far better state than it had probably been in for a long time, but again I have heard nothing from Gary in the week since we left.

Owner's Response: Hi Greg, I can't apologise enough for that fact that you arrived an found the apartment in such a state. Obviously that as you can see from previous reviews that is not the norm and aside from the fact that the guests before you seem to have been particularly dirty, this would normally be dealt with by our housekeeper. Unfortunately our normal lady was on holiday and the stand in did not manage her dates very well and missed the clean. I didn't contact you because I contacted her and she assured me all was ok. Once again I am very sorry for your disappointment and I will work hard to make sure the same thing never happens again. kind regards Gary

Perfect for a conference

My colleague and I rented this flat. It was clean and in the heat wave the air con's were amazing. There was an issue with the television image (he replaced the unit) and the internet (intermitting, he ordered a new router) he was in constant communication and discounted what he couldn't resolve. I appreciate his being available and responsive. I like that he was all about solutions, is a good feeling to know you aren't on your own when houses do what they do.

The neighbourhood was within walking distance of town, and felt safe and secure. Many amazing restaurants in Croydon and some good shopping, the market on the weekends has fresh veggies and fruits, plants and flowers. Really pleased with our stay!

In a friendly neighborhood

One of the things that initially attracted us to stay in this property was the off street parking and were delighted to discover that there was plenty of room for our car on the shared forecourt. We really enjoyed our stay in this quiet flat and although we did not venture far, (as we were visiting friends) we could see that there were good travel links from here into London.

Spacious and functional

We were with four people (parents and two adult children from the Netherlands) and felt very much at ease in this practical/functional apartment. A good kitchen/diner, spacious bedrooms and a nice living with tv etc. We only had mailcontact with the owner, but he responded quick and friendly. The journey to London Bridge, Victoria or Blackfriars station took about three quarters of an hour (minimum) by bus and train, but hey, where else do you get such a luxurious apartment with your own garden?

Clean, Quiet, Spacious, Clean, Well-equip Flat near London

We stayed in this lovely South Croydon garden apartment for 10 days and absolutely loved it. It was perfect for our family of 4. Very clean, organized, and with even more space than pictured. It also had a dishwasher, clothes dryer, and shower with plenty of water-pressure... all which were an amazingly wonderful surprise for us.

We found the location very close to 2 different double-decker bus lines (403 and 412), both which came with great frequency, were quick rides, and dropped close to either the East or South Croydon Rail Stations into London. This property is in Zone 5 but the weekly unlimited travel-passes were perfect, convenient, and affordable. Express trains came regularly to East Croydon with routes to Victoria Station, London Bridge Station, and Clapham Junction. We barely ever waited more than a few minutes to board.

There were plenty of restaurants and carry-out options nearby (both right by the house and a TON near the station in East Croydon -- Wetherspoons became our family favorite as after a long day of touring, we could get 4 dinners, all with pints and sodas for 26 pounds!!). If you need a haircut, I highly recommend Rush on George in East Croydon. Lovely experience. There were also many grocery stores and shopping options. I would not hesitate to recommend this VRBO to anyone. We felt very safe and loved this home. It was airy and bright and a really delightful home-base for all sorts of adventures.
