Onatopp is a unique, ecological villa with a swimming pool

Onatipp is a unique villa in a tranquil environment of lands, forests and hills. The picturesque village of Porreres is just a couple of minutes by car away. Although it has the shape of an authentic ‘finca’, the newly-built house is contemporarily fitted with design furniture and luxury beds. Each window has great views. The house is surrounded by a garden with fruit trees (oranges, lemons, almonds, apricots and olives) and herbs. A lovely swimming pool with sunbathing terrace makes this place perfect to enjoy your holidays in peace and quiet.

All rooms are decorated individually with soft shades of white, cream, grey and black. The designer furniture is most comfortable. Rooms are spacious and the beds have a length of at least 200 cm. Three large terraces lie around the house.

Onatopp is an ecologically constructed villa. Most of the power supply is generated by solar panels. The water for showering and the heating also comes from solar collectors. Underfloor heating is generated by the fireplace, fuelled with wood from our own forest. This way, villa Onatopp is almost carbon neutral.

About Jacqui Burger

Fons and Jacqui Burger are authors of the series "52 Simple Ways to Change the World." They built the Onatopp villa in an ecological way and made it almost independent from utilities. They are parents of four adult children and they have two grandchildren. All of them love to spend their holidays on Mallorca.

Why Jacqui Burger chose Balearic Islands

The centrally located Porreres is the perfect starting point for discovering the entire island. Several seaside towns are just a 15- to 20-minute drive away: you can discover everything from charming family beaches such as Es Trenc to cosmopolitan seaside towns with luxury sun beds. The island’s capital, Palma, is a 30-minute drive away. The wonderful conservation areas in the mountains are reached after a half an hour of driving in the opposite direction.

What makes this villa unique

After spending our holidays in Mallorca for a couple of years, the cramped beds and rickety chairs started to bother us. We decided to build our own house with lovely long beds, comfortable chairs and seating, stable internet, a television and enough space for having friends over. The villa is bright and modern with fantastic views. And above all: it also has a very completely fitted kitchen. This way, we can indulge our cooking passion even while staying on Mallorca, using the herbs and vegetables from our own garden.

Porreres is a scenic village with 5,000 inhabitants. The town is beloved among both inhabitants of the island and new residents. The village is centrally located on the island, surrounded by the neighbouring towns of Llucmajor, Felantix, Manacor and Algaida.

Porrores is a typical 'Mallorquin' town, with a weekly market, local architecture, relaxed bars and nice restaurants. The direct surroundings of Porrores host a beautiful priory (Mont Sion) and lovely churches, surrounded by lands and farms. From the heights of Mont Sion, you can look over the entire island to the sea.

The cosy Porrores town square has shops, terraces with parasols, several restaurants and a grand café. It is an active village community, with lots of young inhabitants. Activities ranging from concerts to bicycle rides are regularly organised.

Porrores also has a lot to offer to art enthusiasts. The town hall at the main square is also a small modern art gallery, with artwork by Salvador Dali, amongst others.

In the village and its direct surroundings you can practice all kinds of sports: there is an athletic centre with a large swimming pool, gym and a karate school. Biking, horseback riding or buggy safaris are all possible.
