East Catholes Farmhouse

Bedrooms 4
Property type farmhouse
Minimum Stay 4 - 7 nights

About the property

Tucked away in the Yorkshire Dales, just 10 miles from the Lake District, East Catholes is a place of natural beauty and comfort. A rural hideaway to re-charge and re-fresh. To embrace the outdoors and explore the local attractions. And to spend time with people you value. With Sedbergh Golf Club just meters away, and the exclusive use of a ¾ mile stretch of fishing in the Cambrian Dee plus 12 acres of lush pasture land to enjoy, you don't have to go far to be where you want to be.

The Farmhouse

The beautiful farmhouse sleeps 8 with 3 double bedrooms (2 of which are en-suite) and 1 twin room. The peaceful bedrooms overlook the vibrant river and gaze upwards to the stunning XX Fell. Downstairs you'll find a fantastic space to entertain with a large wood-beamed dining/living area and log stove. Enjoy a griping book or film by the fire in the cosy snug, and catch up on some relaxed cooking time in the bright and well-equipped kitchen.

Kick off your boots in the utility room and you'll step out on to a beautifully heated stone floor, featured throughout the whole bottom floor to keep you toasty. Add to that a luxurious Jacuzzi bath and reposeful window seats and chances are you'll find it hard rather to leave.

To make sure you feel completely at ease, we have wi-fi to keep you nicely connected during your stay. And we love dogs so pets are more than welcome at East Catholes too!

A little piece of paradise!

  • 5 of 5

The house was perfect for a group of family and friends to stay for a few nights. The house is loaded with character and charm. Plenty of space to move, lots of bathrooms, and large kitchen. The location was beautiful and close to my local family so I could walk to visit if need be. Every dinner was taken at the golf club - food was delicious and the folk there super friendly. I highly recommend this farmhouse for groups who enjoy the outdoors and appreciate tranquility and magnificent scenery.

I very much agree that it is the scenery and tranquillity that particularly appeals but am delighted that you enjoyed your meals at the golf club a few metres walk away! Always nice to have a facility like that when on holiday! Again, thank you for your positive comments - much appreciated!

An absolute joy to come back to after a day walking

  • 5 of 5

In terms of position, content and layout the Catholes Farmhouse could not have been more perfect for our needs. With 7 adults, 2 babies, one 3 yr old and 3 dogs there was room for everyone to run around, play or just relax and chat. Even the television is in its own snug which meant I could still be oblivious to the World Cup!

Catholes Farmhouse is away from everything within its own peaceful grounds giving access to the River Dee and also having easy access to the River Rawthey and the Dales Way which we were walking while using the Farmhouse as our second base.

The set up of the house is perfect for both summer and winter and served as a fantastic place to come back to and discuss the exploits of our day. Everywhere was clean and tidy with a kitchen equipped for all our needs, we ate in every evening as well as having our hearty cooked breakfast before setting off to get more miles under our belts. The boot room/utility was amazingly useful for dogs, walking boots and pushchairs!

The bedrooms are lovely with plenty of room and really comfy beds, in this house sleep came very easily. With 2 en-suites and a really large bathroom there were no queues for the showers.

Communication was excellent with all queries or requests answered very swiftly and positively.

All in all we could have not had anywhere better or more suitable, we had a truly delightful stay.

Superb manor in pastoral setting in the Yorkshire Dales National Park

  • 5 of 5

We were enthralled with the every aspect of the home, the setting and the surrounding countryside. Situated between a golf course, trout stream and the hill country pastures speckled with sheep this was a home one did not have to leave to find scenery. It was right there. The modern conveniences found in a home that is rooted in the 1300s and the excellent renovations all meet state standards and yet, do not detract from an old world feel. We will be back. Honestly, we dropped our plans to take in the Lake District and realized we were in heaven right where we were. Kudos to all who are responsible for this gem.
