This family holiday home is a 3 bedroom 2-storey Provençal villa located at the entrance to the beautiful Medieval village of Grimaud, with private terrace and close proximity to the communal swimming pool. This is an ideal setting for anyone who loves the tranquil countryside of the Var region but wants to be within easy reach of the sea and coastal resorts, as well as within walking distance of some excellent bars and restaurants and most amenities.
The landscaped gardens include a generously sized pool, and the views of the surrounding countryside, from both the pool and the villa, are stunning.
Grimaud is situated on a hill overlooking the gulf of St Tropez and the Maures mountains. It lies 4km from the sea and only 15 minutes from St Tropez. Surrounded by rolling mountains and gorgeous pine forests on one side, and the Gulf of St Tropez on the other, Grimaud is located on the “Route des Vins”. It is a popular location due not only to its surroundings and proximity to famous coastal resorts such as St Tropez, St. Maxime, Nice and Cannes, but also to the 11th Century castle and surrounding bougainvillea hung cobble streets.
Within a 15 minute drive there are some of the best beaches on the coast, including Pampelonne and Croix Valmer, while the fabulous Beauvallon golf course is only 15 minutes away. There are plenty of family activities in the area, e.g. horse riding, cycling , walking, playground, tennis & basketball court, and a water park located 2 km outside the village nestles in the surrounding hills and pine forest.
In the village of Grimaud there are several local restaurants, a hairdresser, excellent boulangerie and equally good patisserie, children’s playground, tennis court, football pitch, pharmacy and post office. The nearest supermarket is located just down the road on the way to Cogolin (still within walking distance if you only need a few things).
Grimaud – the village
Lots of local information is available in the house and also at the tourist office just a short walk from the villa.
Le Patissier du Chateau – local village baker in the centre of Grimaud open from 7am till 8pm for fresh bread, baguettes and delicious patisserie and savouries.
La Fournee Grimaudoise - another local boulangerie open Tuesday to Saturday.
Intermarche - on the road to Cogolin
Geant - at Gassin, between Port Grimaud and St Tropez
Leclerc in Cogolin
Grand Frais - for excellent fresh fruit and vegetables (a bit like Waitrose)
There are so many good restaurants in Grimaud, all within walking distance, that you’ll be spoilt for choice! These include:
Le St Joseph - run by two young Italians
Bar Clem - good value Brasserie food
Fleur du Sel - a tiny restaurant serving excellent food outdoors
Les Santons - more pricey but high quality rich French food
There are several from the village, for example:
Le Pierredon - trough a charming valley bordered by olive trees
The Footpath of the Fairy Bridge - see turtles and maybe even the Diane, a protected butterfly.
LOCAL WATER SPORTS
From the electric boats you can hire to travel round the canals of Port Grimaud, to Kayaking, yachting and speed boats.
Grimaud - every Thursday morning.
St Tropez - Saturday and Tuesday mornings
PLACES TO VISIT
Le Club 55 - book in advance to enjoy a superb meal while you do some celebrity spotting!
Gassin - old historic medieval hill-top town; great restaurants and spectacular views from the village.
Ramateulle - nice old town further along the same road as Gassin
Bormes le Mimmosa - beautiful town about 30mins away. Well signposted - take the N98 in the direction of Toulon. Take right hand turn at top of mountain and follow signs. Very picturesque drive over hills. Lots of shops, bars and restaurants.
Cogolin – Great market town with plenty of restaurants. Possibly the most accessible for supermarket shopping at Leclerc, on the main road (N98) as you drive past Cogolin along the by-pass. The old part is worth discovering.
Port Grimaud - very pretty marina, reminiscent of Venice, with shops & restaurants. There’s a ferry from here to St Tropez - worth doing to avoid the traffic.
We really enjoy visiting the local vineyards in the region and some of the local wines are excellent. The area mainly produces Rose, but there are also some really excellent local reds and whites.
In particular the area around l’Estagnol beach and travelling along the coast road from Bormes to Le Lavandou is really stunning countryside.
Château Minuty (also has a retaurant) on the road to Ramatuelle has really excellent local wines as does St Maur, and Domaine Siouvette.
Restaurants in nearby La Mole
“Auberge de La Mole” – A famous and excellent restaurant!
