About the property

Number 5 Burns Street offers close to town centre accommodation in what is arguably Dumfries' most famous street, named after Robert Burns, who lived, worked and died in the house diagonally opposite. Burns Street itself is a partially-cobbled and quiet street, tucked away, but only a 5 minute walk to the town centre. There are good free parking facilities at the door and near-by. The riverside and Dock Park are only a two minute walk away and, St Michael's Kirk with its Mausoleum to Robert Burns, is 200 yards from the front door and within full view.

The accommodation is a cosy semi-detached bungalow of traditional red sandstone. High ceilings give it a light and airy feel with all the comforts of a cottage. There are many restaurants, food outlets and supermarkets nearby. Dumfries town has a variety of historic buildings to explore, including Moat Brae, said to be inspiration for J.M. Barrie's Peter Pan. (Currently only open by arrangement)

Dumfries is well-placed to enjoy all kinds of opportunities for wildlife-watching, walking and hill-walking, visiting gardens and exploring castles and abbeys. There is a wide variety of locations to experience, including forests and coastal areas.

Great location in town

Really enjoyed our stay at the cottage. So convenient for town centre and with parking on street it was a perfect base for golfing and walking in the area.

Fantastic place and will try to stay here again.

I can't say how much we loved this place. The picture is misleading because I thought it was the place with the banister, but that is Robbie Burns' home. The place had everything you could need and want and then some. It was a lovely two bedroom accommodation and close to downtown and shopping. The only thing negative to say was the seagulls could get to be annoying, but that has nothing to do with the place. I would love to come back for a visit and stay longer. The homeowners are friendly and inviting. If you are planning on going to the Dumfries area, please consider this property. It is well worth it.

Pretty cottage in excellent location.

We, being four women, loved this cottage as it was centrally located, very clean and fully equipped. Susan and her partner were so obliging and even stayed up late till one in the morning to open up for us, as we had been to the Edinburgh Tattoo and knew we would be late. I would certainly recommend this cottage to all.

Excellent accommodation very close to town and local amenities.

A home from home with all those little touches you don't get from hotel rooms. Owners are very helpful and can't do enough for you before and during your stay. Will definitely stay there again and recommend to others.
